  1. @@Suvy1267 I'd join the group! I'm very hidden on FB so my students can't find me, though, so it might b hard to link up lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I'm being sleeved in December, and I want to start seeing a therapist now so I can work on breaking some of my bad habits. Does anyone have any recommendations? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I'm a teacher, so that was my plan too - I'm still really nervous having to take the week before break off for the actual surgery, but oh well. I want the two weeks - it's not worth it for us to rush back and have complications, right?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. Sharon, I hear you. I have an antidepressant that can cause severe withdrawal symptoms within the same day if I miss it, and I still do sometimes! I get so irritated with myself, but life can get away from us. Don't be too hard on yourself. You shared so many things to be proud of in your post - being open about your medication, your amazing sewing skills, putting yourself out there to do things that you don't normally do, and recognizing when your reactions aren't "normal". I'd say that the positives outweigh the negatives here. Keep fighting the good fight! ❤️ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Hey all! I finally got my insurance approval, and I'm so excited to get sleeved. My question is for anyone who wasn't totally open about the procedure with coworkers. Before anyone tells me not to lie, just be open, or just say "I don't want to talk about it", trust me, I've considered all the options. I'm very open about it with family and friends. It's just that I'm a teacher in a large school. People gossip, and I work with too many people who will tell STUDENTS inappropriate things about other teachers. I just don't want that attention. When someone asks why I'm out for a week, I just want to throw a different surgery out there. It doesn't need to account for a drastic weight loss necessarily, but that would be a nice perk. I was thinking hernia surgery. Any other ideas? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery Cover Stories?

All good ideas! Thanks guys! We started setting up our classrooms this week, and already the gossip is flying about different people. It's just the culture of my school, I guess. I'm very interested to see what it's like when I start visibly losing weight! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  8. I had the same situation! NYC middle school teacher here. I have to wait until December now, and piggyback it onto Christmas break. It was definitely frustrating, but I won't wait another year like this. What did you wind up deciding? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. My mother thinks I'm too young for such a permanent surgery, and I'm 32. [emoji13] we can't win, can we? Haha
  10. I'm SO scared of losing my boobs, and my butt. I feel like those are the sexiest things about me - albeit, the butt could stand to be about 20" smaller, according to the measuring tape! I was always the girl with the great rack, so I put a lot of "feeling attractive" into that. It makes me quite nervous, even though the rest of me will look way better.

Will I eat good foods again?

Besides spicy, what types of food do people usually have a hard time eating post-op?

    A lot of last suppers

I'm doing the same thing, eating and drinking wise. I'm even eating things I normally don't even go for. I definitely have this voice saying "it's your last chance!" I'm more aware of it, so I'm definitely working on curbing it. What were your successful mental processes to break this? I see a therapist already, but she's not focused on eating issues or behavior therapy.

Hey all... brand new here, from Astoria. In the approval process, in my 3rd month out of 6. My biggest fear right now is not getting approved.
