  7. I highly recommend Springfield. Where are you located? I know they have satellite programs so you only go to Springfield 3 times. Pre op surgery and 1 week follow up Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App
  8. There is a group called September sleevers Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App
  9. Been there! The last month I was staying in my calories but with lots of empty calories Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App I haven't gained anything but I'm not loosing right now. I was also sidelined with a back injury so exercise was limited Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App
  10. Are you tracking everything you eat? Measure everything. Write it down. Measure your food when you serve and then stop half way and wait 5 minutes to see if your full Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App Also exercise. 3x a week is very important. That's where I struggled. I finally had to make it a priority Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App
  11. I try to get into at least 150 g (600 calories) of Protein a day no more than 75 g (300 calories) and that leaves me with 100 g of fat (900 calories) Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App
  12. Once I got done to 1800 a day I started dividing them up to higher Protein and lower carbs. 1 g of protein or carb equals 4 calories 1 g fat equals 9 calories Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App
  13. Have you just started? Or have you been sleeved? I know for my program and each doctor is different I just tracked everything I put in my mouth. I didn't worry about calories or carbs or anything like that. All I worried about was writing it down. Once I was doing that every day for a month I switched to seeing the average number of calories per day and lowered them by 20% so if it was 3500 calories a day I aimed for 2800. I did that for another month and then lowered to 2300 a day for another month. Then I lowered it again to 1800 calories. That gives you 4 months of the 6 months minimum they require to work on getting calories done. This isn't going to be solves in one day Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App
  14. I have medicare/medicaid and so far I have had no out of pocket. I was told medicare covers about 80% and they don't cover the nutrionist. But my surgeon was 100% Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App What program are you doing? Memorial Weight loss in Springfield is awesome Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App

  16. I just got the call this morning 9/26!!!!!! Springfield IL. I'm so excited! The last week has been so hard full of ups and downs trying to get ahold of the surgeon to schedule. Telephone tag is no fun! Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App Is anyone else on FB? Would anyone be interested in starting a fb group of our "sleeve" class? Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App
  17. Congrats on the good report! On to the next step!
  18. If the Upper GI is like the test I had years ago you have to be awake and swallowing barium so they can check for reflux. But my husband had one a few years ago that was a scope where he was in a twilight sleep. I was told I don't have to have that test.
  19. So far so good! I have completed 4 months of the medically monitored weight loss part. My husband has 1 more video to watch before he gets his first appointment with LCSW. I spoke with her last Tuesday at group and she was just as confused as we were on the insurance paperwork. Apparently she has worked with many HAC patients and none of them are reporting getting any bills. We recently discovered Springfield is charging patients something different then their satellites are. I have been doing this for 4 months now and not once have I received a bill (I also have Health Alliance but mine is medicare/medicaid)
  20. We were quoted $400 for behavioral and $180 for Nut
  21. Did you ever hear back on your quote for Health Alliance Connect? We just got my husband's official quote and now memorial is saying he has to pay both nut and lcsw (Behavioral health) Still trying to figure this out but the price they are quoting seems so high!
  22. I had an issue with my insurance at one point. The doctor sent in paperwork and it got sent to the wrong case manager at the insurance office. It ended up sitting in a box for 3 weeks. My doctor finally called and said here is the confirmation number for the fax I will wait til you tell me you have received it. Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App
  23. I just verified with my friend who also did memorial and she didn't have to pay anything out of pocket and she has hac. I'm probably doing rny. I'm currently 365. Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App
  24. Hi I am in IL as well and my husband has HAC. We were told he has to do 6 months of nutrition with the PCP. I had a friend who started it last September and she is currently 20 days post opp. So not much more than the 6 months. What program are you going through? I have found that makes the difference Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App Thank you and nice to meet you. I have my first appointment at Memorial weight loss and wellness center on the 27th. I'm going with the sleeve. How far along is your husband in the process? I know, I'll have to pay for the nutritionist and behavioral people out of pocket and I believe there is a $300 surgeons fee eventually! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App We are with Memorial as well! You shouldn't have to pay for the nutritionist or behavioral. He just started but I am 3 months in. I am probably having surgery in October. I was told they did away with the $300 surgeons fee but haven't updated their videos yet. I wondered the same thing so I asked them.
