  3. I was also dead set on the sleeve. After my initial consult with my surgeon (who told me it was up to me which one I wanted) I started doing a LOT of reading and research. One thing that is consistent no matter what book, pamphlet, success story etc you read is that you have to be 100% honest with yourself through the whole process or you won't be as successful. I had chosen the sleeve bc I didn't think I needed the negative reinforcement of dumping, not thinking I have a problem with sweets or fried food. But once I began to really be honest about my relationship with food I realized that I do eat those things more than I initially wanted to admit (let's be honest, if I didn't I most likely wouldn't be overweight enough to be considering WLS in the first place lol). So I went back to my surgeon to talk to him about it and I ended up switching to RNY. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I'm in Atlanta... Still waiting on insurance approval but the coordinator at my surgeon's office said he is still scheduling in April. So my fingers are crossed for a quick approval so I can get in in April!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Changing doctors shouldn't prolong the process, especially if you're at the beginning. The requirements for your insurance will be the same no matter which surgeon you see... The only thing that would make a difference is if the specific surgeon has different requirements (some may want you to lose weight prior to surgery or have a pre surgery 2 week liquid diet) but I assume you could find those out by making phone calls prior to going in for an office visit and use that info to make your decision. 6. I have Anthem BCBS. There is no waiting period but you do have to have 6 months of medically supervised weight loss attempts within the last 2 years... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I just got an email that my case wasn't submitted to insurance until today so fingers still crossed!! Maybe I'll be around your time Tammylou! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  9. Hahaha thanks pammieanne!! Why was your insurance denied the first time? Good luck with it all!! I'm waiting to get a second Letter of Support from my primary care hoping that will add to my case... I'm definitely getting anxious though!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. Hello All! I am somewhat new here... I've been reading posts in a few forums for a while but haven't posted yet. (Long time reader first time poster! Lol) I am maybe halfway through the process... I have all of my insurance requirements met and hopefully my surgeon's office will be able to submit for approval early this week. I've read all sorts of stories about insurance approvals so I'm crossing my fingers that I'm a lucky one who gets a quick approval! (I have Anthem BCBS Ga, anyone have any experience with them?) Is there anyone else in the North Atlanta area out there that's starting or mid way through the process? I have a great support system but I'd love to have someone who's going through the process at the same time!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. Hello! That's awesome to hear how quickly you heard back from insurance. I have BCBS as well and was curious about approval times. My bariatric counselor said 2-3 weeks but I keep seeing people with BCBS say they were approved much faster and that makes me very excited! I just met all of my requirements so we should be submitting to insurance any day now!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
