I only told my mother, as she is traveling with me to have my surgery. I am close with my manager at work, however because they share so much personal stuff of others with me, I decided not to tell her. I had some health and asthma issues earlier this year, so I just said the medications cause acid reflux issues and I am having a hernia repair. I didn't want to say I'm having my gallbladder removed since it's possible I may be one of those will have to after wls. I said it was a possibility thought. I have sworn my mom to secrecy until I'm ready to share with other family members. Most of them live out of state and I see them every other year or so, my weight is either up or down, the next time they see me it will be down!!! I wanted to protect my mental side of this journey, I didn't want unsupportive people and them saying negative things prior to my surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Wow, you're lucky to progress faster than most with insurance! My surgery is a couple days before yours and I have a week of pre op liquid diet starting next Saturday. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

He said at 40, I'm perfect to get it done so that it will change my quality of life and still have the skin elasticity to not be so worried about the skin. That was what my mom needed to hear. I'm in a support group with a number of people who are 55+ and recently had VSG or bypass and they regret not having it years earlier. Take care of now so that later will be more enjoyable... When I looked back at 20 years of effort and constantly dieting. Fighting the same 50-75 pounds every few years was too much and I could see it would not get better as I age. I want to do something know and enjoy healthy eating without killing myself. I've done just about everything and even like working out, but could never get past 180... I am having surgery on April 23rd too, but with Dr. Alverez in Piedras Negras, Mexico. Now I've joined this forum and joined the Spring FB group, I find myself getting nervous the closer we get... Officially 3 weeks from today. I'm getting prepared and start pre op on April 16th. Good luck to all!

I am scheduled for my VSG with Dr. Alvarez on 4/23/16. Although I haven't had surgery with him yet, I know 2 ladies personally who have had their VSG with him.

4/23 and start pre-op liquid diet 4/16....

I am having surgery 4/23 in Mexico with Dr. Alvarez at Endobariatric in Piedras Negras. WOW... that is the first time I mentioned it to someone (or some place) other than my mother.
