I lived in Norway for about 3 years, and never had the "pleasure" of Lutefisk ...... From what I can remember, it is rotten fish ..... My nose is quite sensitive. I'd rather "filter" fish (Gefilte) anytime over Lutefisk!

@@kimygirl I weaned off Nexium over few weeks, very slowly, and I did not have any rebound effects. If they are stopped suddenly, yes, acid may come back for a while. I started weaning off, and taking Nexium every 1.5 days for few days, then every 2 days, then 3 days, 4, 5, then once per week. Then I stopped taking it. This way my body adjusted to no PPIs in my system, and haven't taken any now for over a month, and still no more acid. I did not need any Mylanta or Gaviscon, even though I have them for "just in case". Good luck

Just a little aside here. This morning I half heard a public radio discussion. The speaker referred to Sara Palin's having claimed a view of Russia from her backyard in Alaska. He then exclaimed something like, "I live near Lake Michigan. Does that make me a sturgeon?" (As I said, I only half heard it, so this may be less than accurate. It's in the spirit assuredly.) Ha Ha! You crack me up Very funny! I wonder if the Lake M fellow is able to have an endless caviar supply .... Then again, what do you get when you remove "t" from sturgeon? Yes, Surgeon!

@@shoodle72 I'd be seriously carping myself if I swam next to the shark. We have plenty of them here, Down Under ...... So, apart from "filter fish" carp in aspic, let's all eat Caviar! These sturgeons could do with trimmed whiskers ....

@@lalala87 They (Swedish fish "sushi") actually remind me of the plastic food on display in Japan, in the noodle bars and many restaurants ..... LOL It makes it easier for the "round eyes" to choose, you just point and hope for the best ....

Hm, what do you suppose that means? LOL, I correct myself, but presently I am sitting down ..... and now remember "aspic", which I think is savoury in taste, whereas jelly is usually sweet. Correct?

@@kimygirl The "pump" is not a real pump. PPIs are strong acid reducers (like Nexium, and the others I mentioned), and yes, it is a funny name. So don't worry, no real pumps are involved. Month out from surgery was the time when I started on Nexium, and I was then fine with swallowing larger tablets. Hope it works for you too! Let us know how you go. From memory, Nexium took 2-3 days to work for me, and then I was fine. Good luck!

Dear WLSR, No need to apologise I was joking ... I like that expression: " I stand corrected" ...... LOL The photo I posted actually states "aspic" .... and carp .... Glad you had a cheek hurting laugh from the Rush Hour .... I love it when Chris Tucker calls it "filter fish", and you can see Jackie Chan trying not to crack up .... LOL

For me, I suffered from horrible acid reflux early post op. Both Rabeprazole and Pantoprazole did not help at all. I was advised by another forum member to try Nexium 40mg (Esomeprazole). This worked for me! Got rid of acid reflux completely. I took it for 5 months, and recently slowly weaned myself of it. No more reflux! Nexium is long lasting, big tablet though to swallow. Talk to your surgeon, sounds like you need a strong PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitor) Good luck, and hope you feel better soon!

and @@LipstickLady -- I'm Jewish and I never heard of it either. Carp jelly like fruit jelly? Or do you mean jelly as in aspic? Are you thinking of gefilte fish? Carp may or may not be one of the fish ingredients, as people who prefer the dish to appear white don't use carp, which gives a tan color. The "jelly" is the broth in which the fish mousse mixture is poached and then cooled. Not everyone eats the jell/aspic. I don't. Just for you WLSR A re-post: Yes, Gefilte fish ...... I did, both pre op, and post op. My insomnia was due to my hyper-thyroid Graves Disease. Once my thyroid was destroyed by radio-active treatment, I was OK for couple of months. Then, post op I had insomnia, really bad one for few months, as my thyroid med was getting too strong with ongoing weight-loss. I finally had my Thyroxine dose reduced, and 7 months post op I am finally starting to sleep better. I had to use sleeping pills for a while, as on some nights I was up all night! Yes, it was exhausting. Better now, finally!

AWWWW! You edited it!! Good job! Give this girl a cookie. Or a carp. And get my weight down. Punkin, been there, done that. I'm 3.5 years out and maintaining like a champ. But thanks for the advice! Both LipstickLady and Babbs were sleeved few years ago, are at goal weight and have been maintaining it for a long time. They are experienced vets who followed their surgeon's post op guidelines, did not try to test their sleeves or do something stupid or dangerous. They offer no nonsense support and they are role models for newbies and other sleevers further in their post op journeys. Calling them stupid and fools really shows immaturity that I suspect come from a teenager and not an adult. There is no need for name calling and being rude. And bit of sense of humour doesn't hurt either.
