  1. I was banded Nov. 11, 2005, and have lost about 95 pounds. I had hoped to reach the 100 mark by my band anniversary. I have stuggled the last several weeks because my head hunger has taken over. However, I look at not gaining during the holiday season as a plus. I made a promise to myself that beginning this morning I would not eat anything that is bad for me like ice cream. I realize my band is a tool, not a miracle. I will say that to myself today over and over. I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving!
  2. Welcome. I couldn't be more happy with my band.
  3. I have had my band since November 05 and haven't looked back. It is the best decision I have ever made. I have had very few, minor problems and solved those by changing the way I do things. You hang in there!
  4. I had the surgery and went home that night. I had to take one pain pill and that was because I had a headache. I had my surgery on a Monday and went back to work the next Monday with no problem. Hunger was no problem-- I stayed on liquids for about three weeks and then progressed to mushies. I can't really say I had any problems. It is the best decision I ever made. My doctor and his staff are wonderful.
  5. I thought getting fills were a piece of cake. My doctor is wonderful. I was told not to eat or drink for four hours before the fill is scheduled. You'll do great!
  6. I have a lump there and my doctor says it is my port. When I had it checked out, everything looked fine. Don't worry about it, but ask your doctor to be sure.
  7. I hope everything works out well. I will keep you in my thoughts.
  8. "Potatoes, rice, bread, sugar"??? Why don't you go by the next time you see her and say, "Politeness, Respect, Brains and Savvy....that's what YOU should NOT avoid unless you are training to be a professional JERK!
  9. I just found out I no longer need my blood pressure meds! Thanks for all your encouagement. I read a lot more than I post, but you guys are a wealth of information. :clap2:
  10. Being nervous is normal. You just wait until you start to see the weight come off. I didn't have much post-op pain. I had to take one pain pill and that was because I had a headache after I woke up. It is the best decision I ever made for myself.
  11. I am doing great. I love my band. The weight loss is getting slower, but I guess that is normal. Thanks for all the help and inspriration.
  12. You are an inspiration to all of us. Congrats!! Good luck with your plastic surgery.
  13. I am the public relations person for a school system.
  14. I was 312 pre-band and around 300 the day of surgery. It is working great for me. My doctor and I (after much research) thought the Lapband was the perfect tool for me. I haven't had any problems and I love my band.
  15. I am new to the world of fills. I just want to say welcome.
  16. Jack said it eloquently-- "To me the Band is a dynamic interface between my goals and my behavior" The band helps me meet my goals. That doesn't mean I can't have a little of the wonderful foods I always have enjoyed. There are no bad foods. I just can't eat the whole bag, or box, or plate-full like my former over-eating self.
  17. Date Banded: 11/29/05 Dr. Ray State: Tennessee Erosion: No <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->__________________
  18. I was told not to lift anything over 25 pounds for six weeks.
  19. Penni, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there!
  20. Robyn, you look GREAT!!!!! I hope I do as well as you.
  21. I can eat salad - since about six weeks post-op. I can eat almost anything as long as I chew it really well. It doesn't take much of anything to fill me up, though.
  22. I agree with Alex. I love my band. It is just a tool, however. It is hard work. I have lost 52 pounds. I didn't loose a pound for three weeks and got really discouraged, but finally got over the plateau. Followup care is very improtant.
  23. Hang in there Doc! This is the best support group a person can have. We are all struggling but we are all in this together.
  24. Thank you so much for the information. I have been worried about this after reading all the stories.
