  1. Just for fun if you ever want to see just how much fat is in Fritos......light one on fire .......it will burn like a candle because it has so much oil and fat in it!.....there's not too many worse things you could choose. I think you need to get serious with yourself and make this work, if this is actually what you want.
  2. In that short of a time frame I'd do a liquid diet just like done for pre-op.
  3. Would you like me to add you to a facebook group for May and June surgery dates?
  4. I have a fitbit (just got it this week actually).... kathy_morris@comcast.net I'm not very challenging right now because my surgery is next Monday....but add me and we'll be ready. :-)
  5. Thanks for responding! My eval is scheduled and I see a new doctor next week. I have been seeing a nutritionist as well. I guess I'm anxious and excited to get this done and over. I just want to be free from "the bulge". Lol! My best advice is to be patient. If you haven't found out your insurance requirements, call them and have them send it to you in writing. Having that will give you a good idea of how long things may take for you. Just take it one step at a time. Good luck to you!!!
  6. @evette305....I think that describes where I am pretty much too.........excited and OMG!!!! hahahaha
  7. How far are you in the process? My surgery is Monday the 16th. Have you done all your evals and consults, or are you asking what the first step is?
  8. So how's everyone doing?......nerves kicking in yet? I think for me I'm still at the excited stage. If I know myself well enough my guess is that the nerves will start getting the best of me around Friday or Saturday.. My doctor prescribed Valium for me to take at bed time once the nerves start, which I know I'll be very grateful I have when the time comes.... Just think fellow May 16th sleevers, this time next week it'll be all over and we'll all be on the road to recovery and a much healthier and happy life!
  9. @@jane13 Hey Jane! It's a small world for sure. My surgery is next Monday and I am more than ready to get this done!
  10. Will do! You'll do great. Try to relax and focus on how good you'll feel and look after being able to take off the fat suite for good! I'm one week behind you, scheduled for next Monday. Good luck and fast healing to you!!!
  11. @@Ronni86, @, Welcome to out group!!! We're all getting very close to the end of this part of our journey and the beginning of the best part!!! well I was trying to mention three new memeber and it's not being cooperative this morning,,,let's try again... @@SueAE, @Ronni86@TamaraRae
  12. My surgery is a week from tomorrow........and I have this same worry. My brain tells me there is no reason for me to think this won't work for me.........(I guess it's my brain).....but then the "other" part of me says....."you've lost weight before and it came right back"......This has got to work!!! I am determined to make it work. I know the uneasy feelings are normal but I just want to get this show on the road.
  13. I'm not sure what your diet consists of but you really need to stick to your surgeon's instructions. The pre-op diet is designed to shrink the size of your liver in order to make surgery safer.......Surgeries have been aborted due to the liver being too large. You don't want that the happen! Just focus on your goal of having surgery and get through the diet one day at a time.......Good luck!!!
  14. call your surgeon's office and ask them so you can make sure you don't take anything that could mess up your surgery schedule......that's the safe way to go.
  15. Only your insurance company can answer that question, because it depends on the plan you have. Insurance companies have many different plans so even though someone else with UHC may have had a 6 month supervised diet requirement does mean your plan will have that same requirement. Call your insurance company and ask for the medical policy for WLS that pertains to your specific plan. Good luck to you!!!
  16. Just one more week to go!!! My surgery is on 5/16. So far I'm just excited. I'm sure the nerves will kick in later this week. My pre-op diet has been going great no problems at all and I've lost 9 lbs! My diet is a dream, one Protein drink, and two small low carb meals per day.....it's been easy peasy! I have to do all Clear liquids for 24 hours before surgery. Happy Mother's day to all the moms out there!!!!
  17. Exactly what @@2goldengirl said! Each insurance plan has their own set of requirements.....make sure you know what the requirements are with your individual plan. Call them first thing in the morning and ask that they send you a copy of the medical policy that pertains to weight loss surgery. Knowledge is power!!!
  18. I more week to go!!!! The good news, is so far I've lost 9 lbs on the pre-op diet! Happy Mother's day to all the moms in our group!!!! I hope everyone has a great day!!!
  19. Did you really mean "pre-op"......I haven't heard of any pre-op diets that allowed pureed soup. I'm assuming you mean post-op?
  20. The Quest cookies and cream is really good!!!
  21. I saw where someone suggested an extra long phone charging cord.....I just ordered one that is 10ft from Amazon. haha
  22. So does everyone have a surgery time yet?? My surgeon doesn't give an exact time....I just know I'm second of the day and have to be at the hospital at 8:00 am........the person first of the list has to be there at 5:00.
  23. Welcome to our group. The folks we have with surgery on the 17th can hold the fort down when the rest of us go in on the 16th...
  24. The unjury brand of Protein powder that is chicken broth flavored is great!!! I love it for when I'm tired of the sweetness.
  25. The wait for this surgery is the worse thing ever.....(no matter how long it is)....My wait was not near as bad as most others....just took me two months to get through all the hoops......But it just amazes me what insurance companies make some folks go through to get this surgery.....What other procedure do you have to jump though so many hoops before you can be approved?? I understand the need for education prior to the surgery as this is a surgery to "really" need to understand before you jump in to it, but all the insurance companies that have weight loss requirements or don't allow someone to gain even one pound over a 6 month timeframe....that's all just nuts in my mind!!!. Luckily my insurance is not one of those...........So that's my little rant!
