  2. Hi all, I'm also so glad for the OP posting this I'm 13 days post op and everything has gone really great. The only pain I ever really had was first thing out of the op in recovery from the gas- which after "something to help" from the recovery Doctor I was absolutely fine when I woke up in my room. My program allowed 3 nights in hospital which although I didn't think I totally need it, it was very nice to be looked after I didn't need any pain meds during my stay- and I was able to toodle about my room and the hallway for little wanders about. My stitches were tender but absolutely fine. The first days at home also meant first purées - I was so worried about all the horror stories about not being able to stomach foods that I was very apprehensive, but it's all gone down very well and I haven't felt sick once- especially when you stick to your measures. The only problem is maybe wanting to try a bit more challenging foods when you feel too brave but I know I have another week of purées so I'm making sure to resist the urge. I've also been walking an average of 4-6kms a day this week to get my stamina back up (back to work on Monday )- I've really been enjoying my danders about and 10kgs down since the pre-op diet has even meant hills feel easier One thing I need to stop doing is weighing myself every day- there has been a wee bit of a stall last couple of days which I've been disheartened about but I've realised weighing every day isn't a heathy way of monitoring- i need to focus on the "NSV's" like being able to walk up hills with out getting out of breath 2 steps in I'm excited to see what the next few months bring. All the best everyone! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Day after surgery!

I had my surgery on Saturday 4/6. Totally agree that once your out and wake up it's very very quick. I had some initial gas pain in recovery and was shivering quite badly but the doctors and nurses were great and gave me something that sorted that straight away. My surgery was at 8 and I was awake and coherent by 12. At that point I had no pain and was told to have a few sips of Water every hour. I kept waiting for the pain to come but even later in the day when moving to the loo or sitting up in the chair- it never showed up (thank god) and I was able to have no pain meds for the majority of my three night stay. The toughest time I had was the first day of water only- my throat was really dry and I felt like I needed some sort of juice. Managed to get through the day though and was allowed very very diluted juice later on ...which tasted like heaven! Second day went by quickly and the mind hunger really did disappear. Third day I was allowed milk (yay) and again another taste was amazing. On this day I did have to do my own injection for blood thinners (as I need to keep doing it for 10 days). It totally was much better than I thought and was very relieved. I'm home today and just had my first puréed lot of food and so far so good good luck every one Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Hi all- so 2 days post surgery now. And happy to say I'm feeling pretty great. The pre op diet really worked in two ways for me, other than the liver reduction, it helped me get rid of the "mind hunger" which is especially important given you can only have Water the first three days out. I hated the pre op the first week but really got used to it the second week in. I know this is only the start of my new life but feeling very positive. Good luck everyone. 6. I'm on day 6 and day 4/5 were the worst I was very groggy and felt like I was getting sick- my energy levels today are much better and the "flu" feeling is also subsiding- hopefully this continues Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Hi all, on day 4 now and struggling- anyone else feeling more than a little sluggish? My 2 week pre op consists of three shakes of 206 calories each and tea and coffee only (and Water of course!). Have managed to get over the hungriness but my days feel like I'm wading through mud! Anyone else the same? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
