When Was the First Time Someone Noticed Your Weight Loss?
Urg...I've lost 70lbs and not one person has said a thing to me. It is very discouraging and frustrating. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

****TMI WARNING****
My period was all crazy after surgery too. The first one I got was about 1 week after surgery, and it was days and days of old, brown blood. Then, 2 weeks after that I got it again and it was heavy and lasted way longer than usual. Our bodies go through so much with this surgery, it's pretty normal for things to be outta whack for a while Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi Everybody!
To fling0228, I lost very little weight the first few weeks as well. It took a while to lose the IV fluids from the hospital, then my weight loss was pretty slow after that. Trust me, I spent many mornings bawling, wondering why I had done this to myself when I wasn't losing at the rate I thought I should have. Then, my weight loss just started going like crazy...about 5lbs a week. And now, at 8 weeks postop, I'm down 70lbs, and I know I made the right decision. So, the advise I can give to you is, if you're not walking, maybe start....I know at 3 weeks you can't do strenuous exercise, but walking is good. What are you eating? Are you eating a lot of carbs? If so, maybe just stick to Protein and veggies...I don't eat carbs at all....only what's in the veggies I eat. I hope this helps you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Vitamins
So, I had my sleeve done in Mexico, and while I was there, I bought some Vitamins to last me for a couple months. My supply is going run out soon, so I've been looking online about which vitamins I should buy. I've heard of people actually taking flintstone vitamins (the ones with iron) as their "bariatric" Vitamin. And I'd have to say that comparing the flintstone vitamin to other bariatric vitamins, it's the same percentage of vitamins and minerals...that's if you took 2 flintstone vitamins. Any thoughts on this? Anyone who uses flintstone vitamins? If not, which bariatric Multivitamin do you use? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Scared to eat different foods
Breezy25, I completely agree with you. Although I am allowed to have carbs, I am choosing not to. Eating carbs are what got me to this point in the first place. So, I am choosing to stick with what I've been doing, it's been working pretty good so far Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Best Protein Bars?
Hey Kate, I'm also sticking to a low carb count of 20g or less. Wondering if you would like to share what some typical foods are for you? Different ideas of what to eat are always welcome for me! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Any bike riders out there?
Lol gibbsgirl, I remember banana seats!! Yes, I just want a cruising bike as well. I'm scared a bike that'll be suitable for me may cost quite a bit though. I see people on those bikes that have those thick fat tires and wonder if that's what I'd need. I don't know, hopefully someone will respond to give us some insight!! Any bike riders out there?
One thing I'm looking forward to doing this summer is to buy a bike and start riding again. At my start weight, let's just say my butt didn't feel very good on those small seats I still weigh 268lbs right now, and would like to look into getting a bike soon, just wondering, has anybody got a bike and got a bigger seat on it? God, I think I would be so embarrassed to have to ask for one. And, does any bike hold a person who weighs as much as me? Don't want the tires to go flat when I get on it Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What Y'all Think- IV
I totally agree with you guys. Why would I be part of a movement that has made me feel so horrible for the majority of my life? I'll be honest, when I see that show, my big fat fabulous life, I feel sorry for that girl because I think she's trying so hard to get everyone to agree with her and to try and convince people you can be healthy at 400lbs. It's just not true! At my highest, I weighed 345lbs and was completely miserable...I didn't want to go anywhere or do anything in case I didn't fit in chairs, couldn't do up the seatbelt in someone else's car, etc. Life in general is just so much harder when you're that big and it sucks. Now, obviously I think people should keep their opinions to themselves about anyone and how they look, I am a nurse and have seen first hand other nurses and doctors be horribly rude to patients, and all it did to those poor patients was probably make them go home and eat a bag of chips cuz they felt so bad about themselves. I also, as a nurse, saw first hand people that were unable to get a proper diagnosis because they couldn't fit in the MRI machine. I'm sorry, but there's nothing good about being morbidly obese...I can vouche for that first hand. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Scared to eat different foods
Hey emdutch, it sounds like we have the same taste in foods. Which Protein bars are you using? And have you started eating fruit yet? I know this isn't a big deal to some people, but carbs are the enemy for me and id like to avoid them as long as possible. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hospital Mi Doctor – Tijuana Bariatric Surgery Mexico
Hey there. I live in Saskatchewan and went to Mi hospital in Tijuana on January 11/16 to get my sleeve done. My surgeon was Dr. Valenzulea, however, I did meet dr Cabrera twice while I was there and he was very nice. I actually talked to my coordinator on the phone and set a date with her once I knew I had my family's support and could get the time off from work. So maybe email your coordinator and ask her to call you. Mine always called me right away when I asked her to. I talked to her the end of November and had my date set for Jan 11, although I could've gone the week before if I wanted. I had a wonderful experience and am so glad I picked it and my doctor. I can tell you much more if you want...there's a lot of info to tell, just let me know anything you want to know and I can help you out! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

OMG... I know I will have to start Puree diet at some point....YUK
I never puréed anything either. Like most others that have replied, I went from Protein shakes to things like scrambled egg whites, laughing cow cheese, tuna fish, etc. I could never bring myself to purée food and eat it...yuck!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Best Protein Bars?
Ok, can I ask you guys a stupid question? I've never understood why these Protein bars have 20g of carbs, but they say they're only 4 net carbs...what exactly does that mean? Is it that you subtract the Fiber? So are you getting 20g or 4g of carbs?? I just don't get it Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi Everybody!
Hi ttgill, thanks for the message. My routine now is a Protein shake with soy milk for Breakfast. I will probably always do this, it's a good protein start to the day. Right now I can eat 3oz at a time, so I have 2 meals with 2.5oz protein and 0.5oz veggies. I'm finding this is keeping me full all day. I do exercise about an hour every day, so sometimes I will have a little snack in the evening...like a cheese string or almonds. My post op experience was fine. I never had any pain in my stomach at all, but I did get pretty gas pains in my left shoulder. That lasted a couple days. I walked and walked and walked around that hospital, and of all the other patients I saw, I was doing the best. I wasn't nauseated and felt good except for the shoulder thing. Everybody else wouldn't get out of bed and they all felt sick and were in pain....so walk as much as you can post op, it really does make a difference! Good luck with everything, and let me know if I can help with any other questions! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
