Frustrated
You have to follow diet for 3 months to show commitment to weight loss. If I hadn't had a band for 4 years, it might make sense Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App Whether it makes sense to you or not, just follow the procedure required by your surgeon and insurance company.Diet trial when I have a band, not much of a trial. I have to convert from band to sleeve. It does not make sense to me to have to do a 3 month diet trial. Does everyone have to do this?? Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

DIET TRIAL?
Health insurance companies have their rules for surgery. It is something they require for approval. We've all had to follow those rules unless we are self-pay. Use the 3 months to research and prep. It doesn't hurt. Good luck. Doesn't "hurt". However very frustrating to find out band should have been removed last year, now I have to do a diet trial. Crazy, not first weight loss surgery. DIET TRIAL?
I am so glad I found this. I am dealing with the same issue. I have had my band 4 years. Had problems 10 months ago but wasn't told there was much of an issue, just needed loosened. Recently went back and saw nurse practitioner instead of surgeon. Come to find out, it should have came out last April. Now they are telling me 3 month diet trial, crazy!!!. I am in Northern ky. Tattoogrl45@gmail.com if you want to stay. In touch Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Surgery Scheduled and very Nervous!
I'm exactly in the same boat as you. My surgeon is wanting to do both at the same time. I currently have an unfilled band. I was told by my surgeon that 95% of the time this can be done without complications. There have only been a few that he could not do. This would be due to possible band erosions or too much scar tissue. He wont know till he goes in. I'm really looking forward to not PB or slime all the time and lead a semi normal life. I'm so tired of the slime even when I just eat a frickin berry. My band was so unpredictable. I have an unfilled band now also after 4 years. I am converting to sleeve, but told I have to do 3 month diet trial, did you? Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App Did you have to do a 3 month diet trial for conversion? Ky medicare with Humana supplement and anthem
Has anyone with ky medicare had conversion from band to sleeve? My band "has to come out". I have a distended espoghas abd stomach. Gaining weight with empty band. Apparently I have to do a 3 month diet trial, seems crazy, i have a band. Worse part is, I should have been told this after upper GI, instead of 10 months later. I could be done and recovered by now. Everyone varies on what their band can hold without issues, from what I have understood. Good luck Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Failed band
Got my band 2-2014. April 2015, saw my surgeon after alot of reflux, vomiting. He did an upper an upper GI and just said, it needed to be loosened and that was just as tight as I could tolerate. After 10 months of being hungry, gaining weight, reflux. I decided to go back and see the nurse practitioner. She did an upper GI. the next day. Saw her right after. She said it had to come out. My stomach and esphogas was "still" distended. So I spent 10 months like that. Not sure if this is permanent damage. I go tomorrow to start my 3 month diet trial which I think is ridiculous, but I have to do in order to have conversion to a sleeve. So frustrating! ! Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
