  1. I am 9 weeks post op and I promise it gets better! At first it hurt to drink water and I could track exactly where that water was in my esophagus all the way down to my stomach. Now, I am able to eat out at restaurants(not much) but I am not scared I'm going to overdue it and throw up. You will get to a point where it is not the topic of discussion all the time. Hang in there!!

    Alcohol

I am about 2 1/2 months out and have had a couple of drinks here and there. Usually Vodka (I didn't like anything sweet). I still log it on my fitness pal. I have not experienced any decrease in weight loss. I am conscious of the calories associated and if I felt like my weight loss was suffering as a result I would stop immediately.

    No Pre Op Diet

I also had no preop diet. My BMI was right at 35 and my surgeon did not want me to go below my current weight for fear that my insurance would have an issue. I did try to incorporate shakes into my diet the week before just to get used to the taste. Glad I did because they are an acquired taste.
  5. I am also 6-7 weeks out and eating 600-800 calories per day. I still supplement my protein with 1 shake per day to hit my 60-80gm protein goal. Most days I don't hit 800 calories but I find that I need at least 600-800 calories to be able to keep up with my busy lifestyle (mom of 3 boys). Although I have been told to keep carbs limited, I sometimes find that I loose quicker with a few added carbs. Good carbs. Not sure why but I'm still trying to figure things out. Good luck on your journey.
  6. Madeline121- Don't stress I too have only lost 24 lbs. and was sleeved Feb 16th.many factors go into that such as your starting weight and body composition. Just remember slower weight loss means less saggy skin

    NSV - shorts!

You look fabulous! We both have similar starting weights (mine was 210) and I am Slightly annoyed that I have lost about 22lbs and still no change in pants size. They are loose but still not enough to go down to the next size. Must be losing in my fingers and toes

    Fluids/protein

I too recommend premier protein shakes. Lots of protein and 11oz of fluid that I am allowed to count towards my water/fluid goal. I drink a lot of pink lemonade crystal light as well. For me, I take 3 water bottles(48oz) with me to work and it helps me visually see where I'm at throughout the day. Good luck.
  9. It's been an interesting ride so far but I am so ready to see even more progress in the future!!! Hopefully the picture pops up
  10. Please ignore the bra in the background... Oops!
  11. I know that is probably too early to stress about it but, I am only 9 days out and have stalled for the last few days. I guess I was hoping for continued "fast" weight loss as I am still on a clear liquid/protein shake diet. I lost 13 lbs within the first six days and was thrilled to get to 197lbs. I am hoping that as I continue to add calories into my diet, I will start losing again. Anyone else experience a stall so early on?
  12. Congratulations on your surgery. It does get better. It's hard to not get down about the way you feel currently but it will be worth it. I am 8 days out and feel so much better, other than still not being allowed to eat real food yet, but that will come. I'm down 13 lbs so I try to focus on that when frustrated.
  13. My surgery is tomorrow morning and I am crazy nervous and excited at the same time! I am 5'5 214lbs so in the low bmi range with high cholesterol and mild sleep apnea. I was really afraid that my insurance would deny me because my bmi was at the lower end but I made it!!!!
  14. Thank you for the support. My surgery well. No pain just soreness from the incisions.
  15. Biggest and best decision you guys. Hard mentally and physically for a while. Im 6 months out and finally feeling normal Thank you for the encouragement. I had my surgery yesterday @10am. Everything is going great. I am sore around the incision sites. After my swallow study later today, I should be able to start the Clear liquids again.
  16. My date is tomorrow also! Good luck!
