  8. [awesome info!!!!quote name=Lilee84" post="2285395" timestamp="1332967880] DISCLAIMER: This FAQ is in no way intended to replace or undermine the advice of your physician. Every person is different, every surgeon has different guidelines, and no two situations are identical. Therefore if any of the answers below are unclear or contradict your physicians’ instructions, always follow your physicians’ instructions. The responses given are a compilation from multiple sources and references. How do I embed the weight loss ticker? Click on the My Tickers link under your settings in the top right of any page on here. What can I have during liquid stage? During your clear liquid stage you can have anything that you can sip through a straw that is translucent, meaning see through. For instance: Water, juice, broth, sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello, Isopure Protein drinks, Gatorade, Powerade, decaf tea just to name a few. Once you move on to full liquids you may add liquids that are not translucent. For instance: creamed Soups, soups with the chunks strained out, milk, Protein shakes etc… When do I start mushies/purees? Every surgeon has different guidelines for the progression of your post-op diet. The majority of post-op diets progress as follows: Day 1-7 Clear Liquids Day 8-14 Full liquids Day 15-21 Purees Day 22-50 Mushies What’s the difference between mushies and purees? The major difference is that purees are anything that has been blenderized/pureed to a baby food consistency and has no chunks. These should not be watery, but instead a thicker pudding like consistency. Mushies are soft foods that have not been pureed. Should I be counting calories or carbs or both? Both. Again, every surgeon is different, but the majority of sleevers will be on a 600-1000 calorie/day diet with carbs kept at 60-80g or less. The general guideline is this: When eating, protein is always first, veggies are second, and if you have room carbs/starch last. The majority will rarely have room for the carbs. How much protein should I be getting per day? The recommended protein intake may vary from 55 to 100g per day, depending on your individual needs and the bariatric diet provided by your surgeon or dietitian. The generally accepted minimum protein requirement for women is about 50 to 60g per day and men need at least 60 to 70g of protein per day. How much liquid do i need for the day? About 60-80oz When can I eat salad? Once you reach the point where you’re on normal solids you can try salad. Start with a small amount and see how your sleeve tolerates it as it can be difficult to digest. Best protein shakes? This one depends on your particular tastes, however most seem to enjoy
  9. Now I'm like ... dang is this for real ????... I was so prepared to be turned down... now just gotta find out date and out of pocket amount. Have you already been sleeved?
  10. Thank you????... I am having the gastric sleeve surgery. Thank you so much ????
  11. I just found out yesterday that Cigna approved me for surgery. It took 5 days to get an approval. I think I am still in shock that this has now come to be a reality and no longer just research. I had already prepared myself to be denied due to my BMI was 39 when I started but I lost 14 lbs during my 3 month dietician visits. Plus, my co morbidity was sleep apnea and I have SVT, which I didn't think they would consider as one of the major co mornidities. I am so excited ???? and scared. I find out my official date this week but they are pushing for first week in Dec. My surgeon will be Dr Clayton Frenzel in Arlington, Tx.. he also has an office in Dallas as well. I can not wait to embark on the new journey of becoming a healthier me ..I welcome any advice, comments, encouragement ..I need it all. I have been researching this surgery for 4 years and now it's becoming my truth. I think I'm ready.
  12. I'm so excited... found out today from surgery coordinator that Cigna approved me after 5 days of being submitted. So excited about this but now I'm nervous. Glad to have an idea of what I need take to the hospital.
  13. You look great. I can see it in your face so well. I have been submitted to Cigna and am now waiting on a decision. Fingers crossed that I am approved.
  14. I think you are kicking butt... Keep up the good work. You are gonna be in onederland before you k ow it. I have my last dietician consilt icy 17 and then they can submit me. So fingers crossed I get approved.
  15. You look great.... Keep up the good work.
  16. You look good now ...you are wearing that dress and those shoes honey... You are gonna be just a smaller diva in a sec... Good luck in surgery . Our stats are very similar but I still have 2 more nut visits before I can be submitted. I can't wait . .
  17. Girl you worked that sleeve... Great job ????????????????????????????????????????
  18. Oh that's great!!!! I live in mobile , the sunny gulf coast... 114 lbs is awesome if my insurance dies t approve me n I find I have a hernia I will go that route as well n hope they let me make payments too
  19. Oh, ok that's what it means with the hernia repair. I'm already scheduled here for egd and colonoscopy due to my h/ h is low. I'm [going thru my insurance so I'm going thru all the hoops.. I hope it goes well. I don't have 4500 to pay... If my insurance approves I only have to pay my deductible which is low. I just had second nut visit , had psych visit, cardiac clearance, just scheduled for egd n cool on sept 6 , next nut visit sept 19.....so I'm looking forward to a icy date ... How did dr frenzel do with your surgery? How much did you lose ? quote name=ironpoorer" post="4243016" timestamp="1471703985] Hi I am also using Dr Frnzel but I am in Alabama. I should be submitted for surgery in October. It's seems like you were very pleased. Did you stay in hospital a couple of days? I'm nervous due to I will be out of town but they are making my appt's easy for psych and dietary. I'm having EGD study done here to check for hernia. I pray I'm approved for surgery. If you have a hiatal hernia what does it mean to have discounted surgery ? Dr F charges $4500 for the sleeve if done in conjunction with the Hiatal repair- which they bill to insurance. You might think about having him do the egd; he is very thorough and will find hernias others may miss. I traveled from north Arkansas to his Texarkana office for my initial consult, then Dallas for the EGD, had my Nut consult over the phone, did sleep study and EKG locally then back to Dallas for surgery. Was in Plano Surgical 1 day, surgery on Monday, released on Tuesday. We stayed at a Fairfield suites about five minutes away had planned on staying three or four days but ended up leaving on Thursday. I felt fine and I drove all the way home stopping every hour for 10 minute walks. http://www.mycompletetransformation.com/patient-resources/specials/ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
