  1. You may want to look into the unflavored Protein powders (unjury is good). You can add that to anything liquid- like Water or broth, coffee, tea and not have to deal with sweetness. And you don't "have" to eat the SF Jello or Popsicles. Perhaps make some for yourself? Add some unflavored Protein powder to water, some type of extract you like, and freeze. Add some fresh lemon juice to it? Yummy! I prefer my drinks unsweetened as well, and frozen homemade lemon pops were so good and refreshing. Heck! You could even make frozen coffee pops, frozen green tea pops- I could go on and on! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  3. So what do u do for protein Sent from my SM-J320P using the BariatricPal App Protein shakes are a huge part of our pre op and post op lives. Right after surgery, it is hard to meet all your protein goals. As we proceed further from our surgery, we add foods in to get us there, but still, there are times we may fall short. Having a GOOD Protein powder makes up for this- whether we are drinking it in the form of a shake, adding it to our foods- hitting that number day in and day out creates an environment of success- in learning how our bodies work, use protein to build and repair muscle, burn the good carbs we do eat- all of that, and taking control of our lives. One meal and work out/exercise at a time. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  6. I have my consults Oct 5. I need to get a handle on the costs. Thinking by next April I can start. Husband couldn't care less if I had anything done. But I know he won't let me take money from savings to pay for it- so it's all going to be on me. Hrupmph. I think I'll start with the girls Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  9. I'm still a fan of the Quest. They now have blueberry muffin I hear is good, and they have a pumpkin for the season. Prefer the chocolate mint as it isn't as sweet as the others. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  12. Well, I was just in the mall, and was thinking back to those first weeks post op. For those of you who are about to have or just had surgery, may I suggest Mall Walking? Here is why- Flat surfaces... Less likely to trip on sidewalks, rocks, etc. especially while you're healing Benches- When you need a break, there are benches all over to sit and take one Weather- If it is inclement, or pending, you can get your walk in still I walked the two malls by me alternately. One opened by 6:30 am just for walkers, and McDonald's was open to grab a bottle of Water or some beverage. It was nice to get out and go somewhere, instead of the treadmill, and as soon as I was able, I went to my gym and had already built up stamina and was ready to tear it up. Just an idea for you folks. Moving is so important to your recovery. Having a safe place with the above "pros" helps. One note- finish before the stores open. You'll either get caught up in the crowds, or leave with your pocket book a lot lighter from the shopping detours you take!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  15. Since this is my own thread- I'm going to hijack it for a moment. Was just in Victoria's Secret Need new bras and panties Now I can fit their bras And I was about to dump a couple hundred bucks, easily Did I get any help? Nope. Needed a size change, was told to push the button. No one came. Pushed again. Nothing. And nothing 10 min I stood in the dressing room. I proceeded to change, take the three styles I was trying on to the cashier, and politely told her I would go to a store where the clerks were attentive to customers. A group of the associates were just standing up there chatting. Sale lost. Buh bye now. Back to beating ourselves up nutritionally.... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Bolingbrook. 12-14 years ago I was engaged to a woman who wore a size 12 pant. Boy was she pissed when I was 310-320 pounds and I could fit in those 12's better than her! I carry most of my weight in my torso. That's about 40 min from me. I'm on the North side of O'Hare airport. And I don't want to know why you were wearing her pants.... 18. Omg yes!!! I went to Catholic school for 12 years and that is the ONLY kind the nuns kept for an "emergency". A box, with the "belt" included!!! I was using tampons by 8th grade, and when I was handed that the first time- I almost bust out laughing and asked the nun "are you F-ing KIDDING me???" The thought of detention and kneeling in front of the Virgin Mary for an hour after school shut my mouth fast! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. Well, today I have a thousand and one errands to run, and I've been out for 4 hours already. Huge mistake? Didn't pack anything for breakfast! Seriously, what was I thinking? I'm sitting in my car, in a McDonalds parking lot as I type this. My stomach was literally in pain (that is what hunger feels like to me now) and that is ALWAYS a bad sign, because once that happens, it seems to stay painful all day, even after I feed it. And feeding it when it feels this way hurts, too. That's my reality. There is NOTHING around for me to get a healthy option- and my tummy is very Picky... Soooo. Drive through it was. Ordered the single, small sausage Breakfast burrito. Then proceeded to unwrap it, and eat the insides - mostly, happily!, scrambled eggs, some cooked bell peppers, and oh yeah, may have found a tiny chunk of sausage in a couple places. I was beating myself up for this the entire time I'm eating. So, did a Google search- and while the fat content isn't LOW, I think for the circumstances, and the fact that it's a one time thing, I didn't do too badly. What do you guys "beat" yourselves up for, nutritionally speaking? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. To the OP- I have two words Uterine ablation Best damn procedure ever. They remove, cauterize, then uterine lining. Basically? Insert what is like a balloon (a bladder) into your uterus, and inflate the dang thing with boilin hot Water. Sound horrid? Medieval? Nope. You're in a state like a colonoscopy and don't know what's happening. After that? No more periods!!! Mine was done over 12 years ago and I've "spotted" MAYBE 10 times. For all of one "wipe" worth if you get my drift. Funny thing? All of the typical PMS symptoms vanished with it. No mood swings, uncontrollable need to munch, nada. AND NO PERIOD!! Now, as I approach menopausal age, I have NO CLUE if I'm in it! Lol. No stopped periods to watch for, and I'm good with that! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. Yes, I was really surprised to see they don't cover speech therapy for kids. My husband started with the company back in July. He's the #2 guy there, right behind the COO, and believe me, I will be all over this once he is further settled in...companies can choose what they want covered, or, in this case, not. I'm not happy with this...
  22. I think I'm going to start a political lobby. Seriously. I need something to do- that is meaningful and has impact. I've been excellent at rallying groups and troupes on the past for a myriad of things. Why not this??? Off to begin research.... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  24. Was hoping that the new insurance coverage we start on Oct 1 would POSSIBLY cover a little bit of plastics- nope. Not even on the case of rashes. They are VERY specific! Guess it's out of pocket all the way. Good thing I'm a way off from it lol. Time to save! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  25. I'm bypass, but the above experiences were mine, as well. Horrid!! I've learned what that last bite before full feels like, and stop there. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
