  1. I'm right there with you.... Chicago Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I am May 11 with Dr. Lutfi as well.
  2. Every Dr. is different. The first group i went to they said i would have to go off my birth control pills 4 wks prior until 2 wks after. I ended up changing my Dr. and the new one says i don't have to go off my pills. I also called my gyno and they said that i don't have to either seeing as i am not new to taking the pill.
  3. My insurance does not cover WLS. I didn't have any symptoms for a hernia other then the occasional heart burn. I had my EGD done and have a pretty bad hiatal hernia. Now, my insurance would cover that but my surgeon will not bill my insurance for the hernia (he feels it's not ethically right for some reason) so i have to pay out of pocket for that as well and hope that insurance will reimburse for SOME of the hernia repair.
  4. Thank you everyone. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I am just wondering what everyone who was/is on birth control pills did. The first dr i went to said i had to stop taking them 4 wks prior up until 2 wks after surgery. I have since changed drs and they said i don't have to stop taking them at all before surgery. Now, i know there aren't any general guide lines so i am just wondering what everyone else was told.

  7. I also have United and it is NOT included in my insurance plan. The whole you pay 20% is wrong. I can guarantee if you call back and ask about it they will tell you that they don't cover ANYTHING. I am self pay because of this as well. I am also on my husbands insurance plan. Good luck. I personally think it should be covered on all plans.
  8. What was everyone told in regards to their birth control pills? Is it the norm to have to go off them 4 wks prior until 2 wks post op? Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. Yes, you are very lucky. My husband also works for a big Fortune 500 corporation, they just exclude wls out of the plan unfortunately. Congrats on your new journey.
  10. @@JapGirl can you please email me michelemorris1998@yahoo.com That is EXACTLY what i was hoping my dr. could do. The only difference is my insurance doesn't cover any wls but they will cover the hernia surgery.
  11. Which credit card did you find for 36 interest free?
  12. Did this include EVERYTHING. Hospital, anesthesiologist? Did you have to prepay 100% before the surgery?
  13. One more question for self-payers in the states. Did you have to pay in full prior to surgery?
  14. Yes, i did find it, thanks. That doesn't change my view on him though.
  15. Thank you. I don't know if that is the Dr. with a big lawsuit. I haven't come across anything
  16. Hello We have united health care but weightless surgery is NOT covered. I have a hiatal hernia that will be fixed during my sleeve surgery. I was hoping that a bulk of the cost of surgery would be covered by my insurance now due to the hernia, ie-hostpial stay and anesthesiologist (2 huge expenses). I went today for another dr appt and they informed me that i have to pay $26,000 which is the cost of the sleeve and that includes the hospital stay and anesthesiologist. AND it has to be paid in full prior to surgery (set for april). I guess i just don't understand why the things my insurance WILL cover can't be deducted from the $26K, the office couldn't give me a answer which was really frustrating. My insurance company HAS paid for all my tests (minus my deductible). I hope this makes sense. SO, one of my questions is, how much was everyones surgery for self pay? This just seems like an awful lot.
  17. What kind of refried Beans does everyone do? Just canned?
  18. Thank you! My Dr. is Dr. Mikhail. I am looking forward to getting my sleeve done, but also very scared.
  19. Is anyone from the Chicago area/suburbs? Just wondering who your dr. is?
