  1. I was tired but not miserable. I had to stay overnight in the hospital and dozed quite a bit off and on. Personally I am totally on the fence lol which is of no help I know. If it was me I think I'd try it at worst you make an appearance and then leave.
  2. My doctor wants 60 minutes of walking daily...fast slow or inbetween doesnt matter he wants to create the 60 minute habit. I had my follow up appt today and see him again in a month so from now til then I will be walking at least 60 minutes a day. I will be doing wiifit too but he said no resistance training or lifting.
  3. my first fill is 5/29, and I cannot wait!!
  4. i know you hadnt told your children about your banding how did you explain your hospital stay? i am glad to hear you are home that has to be a good feeling to know everyting is good AND your own bed!!
  5. I have done pretty well too....I had surgery 4/21 and took meds for a couple days. I ended up w/a UTI (fun fun) so I switched from pain meds to antibiotics but no port pain no inscision pain. they put bandaids on the top of the steristrips and the bandaids have made my stomach sore lol but not the actual healing of the incision. lol I am very happy with how i've done thus far, not carrying anything heavier than a gallon of milk though because the surgeon said not to. I have my 2wk follow up tomorrow (a little early lol) and am looking forward to seeing what the doctor has to say. I dont think i've ever been this excited to get weighed before lol!
  6. i pureed chicken and then made guacamole and mixed it all thinned it w/chicken stock and viola instant mexican-esque fix! pizza wise i pureed cottage cheese, a tablespoon of pizza sauce, some pizza herbs, mozzerella cheese and chopped garlic. little chicken stock to thin it and baked it in a ramakin. YUM! they are some of my faves too!
  7. oh no! praying you feel better soon and they figure out what's going on!! ((hugs)) Happy Birthday!
  8. my doc says if it goes through a straw easily it's fair game. i am eating a lot of yummy things that are thinned down. tonight is our family's pizza and a movie night. i used cottage cheese as my base added some feta, pizza sauce, oregano, italian herbs, crushed garlic, chicken, chicken broth and marinated artichokes. pureed it all down til it was thin and baked it off in a ramekin in the oven. haven't eaten it yet but it smells super yummy and hopefully will feel pizza-y. i am starting to get hungry so i am looking forward to dinner being ready. my husband also made me several other 'meals' following the same concept.
  9. i am so sorry thankfully you are in the hospital which is the best place for you. I will keep you in my prayers!
  10. surgery was tuesday and i'm down 2.4 lbs this week. was hoping for more but i'll take it!!
  11. down another 2.6lbs today! Surgery was tuesday and i had gotten up to almost 315 w/all the fluids they pumped into me. inching closer and closer to the 200's hopefully by next week!
  12. i have a 4 1/2 yr old son and an almost 8 yr old daughter. i didnt want the children to worry so i told them an abbreviated version of the truth. my 8yr old knows i had surgery and i explained it simply and then told her that it wasnt sonmething that i was sharing with anybody outside of our immediate family. that if she needed to talk to somebody she could talk to daddy or gramma or me basically anybody who i wouldn't mind seeing me in my underwear lol she got a kick out of that analogy. my 41/2 yr old is my baby and is a sympathy crier since birth. if he hears anybody upset and crying he will start crying because it breaks his heart that somebody is sad. I told him i was having a procedure where the dr was going to help me to get healthier. i explained that mommy's take care of everybody so the dr wanted me to stay overnight so that they coudl take care of me instead. they visited me in the hospital last night and i sang their bedtime songs and cuddle w/them for a few. all in all i feel like we handled it well and gave them enough to be informed w/o being overwhelmed by it all. good luck!
  13. Just wanted to update eveybody. I have been banded for almost 24 hours! still in the hospital as my doctor has a overnight policy. but i feel great....well as great as you can when it feels like you've done a bajillion crunches! I didnt get nauseated and they totally stayed on top of my pain. i took a pain meds every 2-3 hours but only the lowest dosage. I wasn't scared....that was the part that amazed me. Every step of the way I was confident that this was MY day and MY choice and MY brand new beginning. Today I am feeling beyond blessed and just waiting to get the all clear to go home! I will take pics of my incisions (that are glued shut the steri stripped then bandaided) after I get home. have a great a day my friends and if this is your band birthday fear not you can do it!
  14. Today has finally arrived. It's sort of surreal feeling actually. years of waitign to get to this point and now it's here. wow. we drove up last night to stay in a hotel w/the children and my mom since the hospital is about 75 minutes away from the house. I have told the children (almost 8 and 4 1/2) as much as I am comfortable telling them and that I will be at the hospital overnight. I explained that since Mommys take care of everything the Dr. wanted mommy to stay at the hospital so they could make sure to take care of me so I would get good rest. I am hoping I feel up to having them come and visit me tonight after all is said and done. I dont want them to see me in a lot of pain. I am not scared....which sorta makes me scared lol I am ready...not nervous or leery just ready. My mom kept watching me w/the babies last night tucking them in and I could feel her wanting me to get emotional...or expecting me to I dont know. I juts didnt feel like welling up w/tears and making it a huge production, it was just bedtime kwim? I couldnt sleep, it's almost 6am and i have to be at the hospital at 745. If you think of me today say a prayer and I'll see you after surgery. The hospital has wifi and I will be bringing you all with me (laptop woohoo) so if I dont feel miserable I will update later tonight! Have a great day!
  15. I have nothing helpful to say other than welcome! I am out of 'sleeps' til my procedure and leave for the hospital in a few hours. I am so thrilled to be doing this and cannot wait for the next phase. good luck!
  16. how scary for you! I am glad you are home safe and sound. Thanks for the heads up I will be sure to not dismiss all pain as "normal"
  17. Thanks for the words of encouragement and congrats on your losses! 30.7 ROCKS! :0)
  18. Good Morning and happy Friday! I weighed this morning and am down 3.8 lbs!! I am currently 307 EVEN! I am so hoping to be at 299.9 for my surgery day but I dont know if I will make it. I am currently doing my pre-op diet which is just super low carb and a lot of whole unprocessed foods. I am also drinking about 128oz of water a day, I want to make sure I am nice and hydrated for surgery since I have cruddy veins (and dont want to be stuck more than once lol) and I dont want to start at a deficit and try to catch up. So far so good. I know logically 3.8 is a HUGE loss but I keep thinking man why couldnt it have been a little more, I wonder if there is any number that would make me not do that? Good luck I am eager to see all our successes today!
  19. Down to 307!! woohoo! can't remember how much exactly that is loss wise but i *think* it's around 3lbs and some change. Guess this liver shrinking thing is going alright!! went and checked and it's exactly 3.8 lbs!!!! :0)
  20. those of you with small children might appreciate this more than others but I realized today that I only have ONE HAND LEFT on my countdown. that's a big deal in the countdowns in our house lol
  21. cool sounds like a BLAST! :sneaky: enjoy!!!
  22. I wouldnt think its a huge deal since people fly into mexico to get the surgery and then fly back all the time. maybe do mushies or liquids on your flight days to just be sure to not agitate anything? good luck and where are you going? work or fun? :0)
  23. woohoo good for you!!
  24. woohoo you can be a band twin w/me that's my surgery date! I am excited about the process but completely understand where you are coming from. I had the exact conversation w/my husband the other night. I have had my tonsils out, a procedure on my uterus, a d&c and a gallbladder removal all done w/o much panic because they were "have to" not want to. I dont have much to offer really, I have prayed my way through every step and feel like it's what I should be doing. Good luck w/your surgery I can't wait to compare notes on the other side!
  25. congrats on the loss ldeere! My husband is really concerned about hydration, I haven't had surgery yet and he is already trying to make sure I am in the habit of constantly drinking. I guess thats a big problem after surgery. Do you just forget or is it uncomfortable to drink? I am so curious to hear details on everything.
