Anesthesiologist questions...please help!!
I don't believe we have any anesthesiologists here, perhaps some team members, I don't know. I would suggest calling the anesthesiologist who will do your surgeon's/your procedure and asking them. You may not get (reliable, if any) answers here.

New Formatting Complaint
Well, it is Alex's board, not ours, and he can set it up however he wants. If he opts to put it back the old way, then he will take care of it. But if this is the new format, options are a little more limited. I would start by asking in a nicer way, and maybe explain to him why it bothers you outside of "I'm here for this not that".

Freaking out a little (clothing purge)
The best way I can describe it is that our fat clothes are a sort of security blanket to us. Perhaps because whatever we got from being fat is associated with the fat clothes, but probably more because -- damn, it took us a long time to find clothers period, and a longer time to find ones we could stand, so what happens if I get rid of these and end up getting fat again?

Non-adjustable Bands
I know one person who has a non-adjustable band. She is not doing well with it. Her latest diagnosis was that her band had "shrunk" and essentially cut off her ability to get anything down. That was about 2 years ago. She refuses to go back to the surgeon for fear he will want to remove it, and she will get fat again (in all honestly she could gain about 15 lbs and still be a sz 0).

Do you have words that irritate you?
I cringe with "cunt," (used in any way) "dick" (used as anatomy reference), and "tit" (used any way, but especially by a female). I really do not say nor can I stand to hear someone else say those words. I don't like "comfy" - especially when people think it's "compfy". And I don't like "month" anymore because for some reason I seem to have developed a speech impairment that makes me say "munt" no matter how hard I try... so until I fix it, I'm not saying the word anymore.

Flying, Weight and Discrimination...
I don't remember what size plane. Nothing as big as a 747, probably along the lines of a 737 or MD-80. And no, from a customer serivce standpoint the deal with my parents should have been handled differently. But I agree with the airline about having them end up in different seats. And crossed my fingers that they didn't have to buy 2nd seats, since I had paid for all 6 tickets already. But I would have understood it if they had required it. IMO, you pay for the space of your seat, not "comfort". If someone doesn't need their entire seat and doesn't mind you spilling into it, great. If there are empty seats and you can move next to one, great. But it is not right that customers who pay for the same seat you did get a half a seat because you're fat. (You generically, of course). However, fair is fair, and I think that if an airline is going to enforce the POS policy, they should put the same diligence into addressing the carry-on policy. I'm tired of seeing women come on with a pull-along, a huge purse, a bag of things they bought at the airport, their knitting bag, etc. If we're allowed one plus a small, then that's all you get, because it's not fair that someone else's ticket price ALSO included one bag plus a small, and now they have to check theirs because others took more space than they were entitled to.

What is the most you've ever weighed? The least?
Most - 382, the day of surgery. Least - about 4lbs 5oz, the day of birth.

Is it just a coincidence?
I'm kind of the opposite. Not so much as a sniffle since banding, whereas I normally get cold + bronchitis each spring, etc.

What is the easiest food to eat?
As for your title question, ask 20 ppl and get 20 answers. We're all so different/unique when it comes to food tolerances. Yes, very normal, especially since you're still in the learning phase and probably doing something different behaviorally that makes it seem like it's the food. But "having trouble eating" - does that mean it's causing pain/pressure, or that you're having to bring it back up? Also very common. I pretty much can't eat before lunch, and sometimes at lunch I'm lucky to get more than a few spoons of Soup. Lots of us omit Breakfast or go with liquids (even liquids can give pressure for me in the am). Perhaps try some hot tea, warm liquids seem to open up the area a bit. Protein drink Meal Replacement, but if you're talking about solid foods, again - 20 people will give you 20 answers. I have good luck with cooked turkey pepperoni chips, they seem to be my catch-all food.

Symptoms of a flipped port?
Biggest symptom I know of is that the surgeon cannot access it for fills.

Don't mother's hold their babies anymore?
I can work from home, and usually do at least half the time, but I will still be taking our kid to daycare. I have to do conference calls, webinars, etc. and can't have lots of noise coming out on the other end. And there's no way I would trust myself to actually get work done with an infant/baby around. We considered a nanny or au pair, but eevn then the noise is still in the house, and I think I'd still be inclined to want to take care of things if I heard noise/crying. I will be taking off 3 months. We get 8 wks paid off, and I'll either use vacation or go unpaid for the last month.

Why can't pretty clothes be cheap?
I always forget about fashion bug, but I've gotten really cute dresses there, and a super cute dress/sweater combo. CATO may be another place to look if you have them, cheap.

kids & bus stops
Sprinklers really aren't going to work between October-November and Mayish. And between then we get a blessed break during summer. The school system is supposed to be helping us. They won't move the bus stop (yet), and I don't know exactly what they did, but we'll see. We've been poking around at getting a larger house, so this may only be an issue for another year or so. Let's hope.

Target has been a blessing. If you have Gordman's try there. I get a lot of business casual tops for work there, and haven't paid over $20 for any of them. TJ Maxx, Marhsall's, etc. - they're all pretty much the same store.

New Picture at the Top
Moved to the lounge as this isn't a general surgery topic.

Flying, Weight and Discrimination...
Kind of depends. I flew with my husband, in-laws and parents a few months ago. My parents had planned to sit one of them with my husband and I, and one of them with my in-laws, so that they could have the space we weren't using. They knew they would be imposing on a stranger. Well, it didn't work out that way, and they ended up taking the emergency exit seats. No one said anything to them before the flight, even though they were at the gate nearly 4 hours early and clearly wuld not fit in the seats. No one said anything to them when they boarded or sat. Once the plane was loaded, my mother asked for a seatbelt extender and was told, "Well if your seatbelt won't fit you, you can't sit in the exit aisle." My dad wears a mens' 50 pant, and my mom is probably a 5x. It's *obvious* looking at them that the seatbelt won't fit them. Funny thing is, my husband overheard the stewards talking about my parents, and told me they were going to have to move before they actually did. Apparently one of them said something about "the really fat lady in the Eeyore suit and the guy with her" (my mom had on a purplish gray track suit). My parents didn't have to buy additional tickets, but they were called out on a fully loaded plane, the stewards asked for volunteers to sit next to them, and they were made to move/rearrange their seats before we could taxi. One other time there was a very large man on the right side of the plane, and they asked for volunteers to move to the left side to balance his weight out (yes, they said that). He & my parents are the only ones I've seen called out once actually boarded, but I've seen people addressed a handful of times at ticketing.

Too heavy for banding??
I believe most surgeons cut off around BMI of 60. That's not to say they won't do it, just that they may require weightloss first. And there are always exceptions. For 190kg, about 178cm is the threshold for a BMI of 60.

Flying, Weight and Discrimination...
I can't imagine letting a guy jack off on you. Hell, I wouldn't wait long enough to ask the stewardess for help before knocking him out. I've always had either parents or stewardesses handle children, even on the 10+ hour international flights. I'm not sure what consequences they offer, but they've always been very effective. So maybe it happens, maybe it doesn't. Point being, a fat person taking up my seat can be fixed by that person buying another ticket. We pay for a certain amount of seat. A kid kicking the back of your seat doesn't mean you get less of your seat. Someone talking loud doesn't mean you get less of your seat. Someone's saddlebags creeping over does.

Flying, Weight and Discrimination...
Your examples by and large can be remedied by notifying the stewardess. Not sure about the smelly person, they're probably the closest to another apple when it comes to an obese person. A loud person - ask them to be quiet, or tell your attendant. A drunk person - they can be kicked off the plane or detained until landing. Kids - trust me - attendants will take care of it. Having your seat taken up by someone else, the attendant can't really go ask them to lose weight real quick. Much like they can't ask someone to go shower real quick. But the size issue can be fixed for other flyers by requiring "POS" to purchase another seat. Boom, issue handled. If someone's smell really bothered me, another seat won't do anything, and I would have the attendant put me in one of the reserve seats.

Don't mother's hold their babies anymore?
I'm going to use a carrier. We could make it on just one of our incomes but I'll be returning to work. I love my job and have no intentions of giving it up. But I'm also a weirdo who thinks a FATHER can do as good of a job raising a child as a mother, and if one of us did stay home, it would probably be DH.

Flying, Weight and Discrimination...
Before I got obese I had to fly next to obese people, and now that I'm much closer to a normal BMI I have to fly next to obese people, and they really do impede on your space. I can fit in the seats/seatbelts/etc. but I don't have a TON of extra space. I need what's mine, per my ticket. When someone spills over their alotted space, it takes up my space that I pay for. It's not unusual for an obese person's hips to spill past their seat, under the arm rest, and take up the seats next to them. When someone's girth is such that their abdominal fat is hanging on my arm rest, I don't get my arm rest and have to sit there with my arms across my chest or something. I paid for a seat, and even if it's only 19", it's 19" I paid for. If I'm having to lean into the aisle to accommodate someone else's girth, I should not have to pay for 19". When I was larger, and had to fly, I would pay extra for a flight with larger seats -- e.g. Midwest. It's not the fault of the person next to me that I'm fat, and I didn't think it was fair for me to take part of their seat they paid for.

Vomit is my friend. =)
You didn't vomit, you "PBed" - not an entirely accurate term, but it's the one most well-known. Please don't confuse the two, because if you tell someone "I vomitted" then medical advice, course of action, potential consequences, etc. are very different than if you tell them "I PBed" or "stuck food came up".

Flying, Weight and Discrimination...
Southwest tends to be more vocal about this policy, but what he told her is accurate, and ALL airlines can do it. And they rarely make it a personal/private event, even though I'm sure many wish they would. YOu have to keep in mind that something like 97% of people who purchase tickets do so online, so how could the airline have any clue? Maybe they could ask weight, but then people will lie. Maybe they could ask measurements, but then people would lie. And so on. They can't do much until they see the people. But yes -- if someone has to be called out for POS, then it would be a consideration on their part to find a way to pull the person aside. The term is "POS" - person of size. That's sort of the codename they will use to call someone out. She probably doesn't feel it, but she's actually lucky. Most of the time if they go so far as to stop you, they've already identified you over the radios as a POS and are going to push you to purchase the second ticket. That's the whole policy. If you cannot get the armrests down, and they will not stay completely down on their own, then you don't fit in your seat and you "will be" (if they catch/notice you) required to buy a second seat. If the flight is full, that' the end of the story. If the flight is not full, your extra seat purchase will be refunded. If there are no more seats available, or you refuse to purchase the extra ticket, they can prevent you from boarding.
