    Hair loss 1 year out

I don't think anyone is telling you NOT to listen to your surgeon. I'm 10 months out and at goal weight. I think medically it is important to listen to your surgeon and Nut but most of us that have lost a lot of weight know that our surgeons tell us what we want to hear when it comes to hair loss. I started with a thick head of hair, got all my Protein in, took all my Vitamins and still lost about half my hair. Our doctors MUST know that no matter what we do, hair loss is part of the process for most. I think maybe your upset is coming more from the fear of the possibility of losing your hair. Unfortunately, no matter what you do, you will probably lose some. I was devastated at the amount of hair that came out of my head daily. Seriously like someone who was going through chemo. Fortunately I had enough hair that it never seemed to be noticeable to anyone but me. The good news is, that the loss stopped at about 9 months and I have little sprouts of new growth coming out everywhere. My dermatologist (who really is more knowledgeable about skin, nails, hair than my surgeon) told me that no amount of protein would have stopped the hair loss. His feeling is that mine has stopped falling out and started regrowing because my drastic weight loss has slowed. Best of luck to all Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I've used a straw from day one. Never had a problem. My surgeon said no but nurses at the hospital said it made drinking easier so I used one. It actually makes it easier for me to get those disgusting Protein shakes down too n Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hair loss

Happening to me too. Started around 5 month post op and I'm almost 7 months post op and it is still coming out in clumps. I don't know how I still have hair on my head. I take Vitamins and get my Protein in but it didn't help. Doc says it will stop and eventually grow back but I hope it stops soon. In the meantime I use something called Toppik to help cover thinning areas. It is really great. Anyone out there further along than us that can give us some peace of mind about how long this will last and whether hair grows back full again??? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. When does hair stop falling out and start frowning back. I'm 7 months out. My hair has been falling out in clumps for two months. I am actually using hair fibers on my crown to hide how thin it has gotten. My weight loss has slowed a lot and I'm only losing a pound every few weeks now as I'm pretty much at goal. I've lost 80 pounds since surgery. I love the weight loss but my hair is freaking me out. Does it grow back??? I'm 52 years old and had hysterectomy years ago. I'm also worried because I went through menopause years ago with hysterectomy that it will impact regrowth. Anyone out there in my shoes??? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I'm five weeks out and gag every time I sip on protein shakes. I'm so tired of them and the make me feel sick. Any suggestions??
  6. Thanks everyone. I have tried the syntax and am not a fan. I think I'm gonna try and get it all in with food. Cottage cheese is very high in protein so that will be one of my go to foods. I also found protein chips at vitamin store. Not great but barbque flavor is not bad
  7. Thanks Jenkins. I just went over my food for everyday and I can almost get it all in with my diet. Ugh I have tried every brand and every flavor. Wasted tons of money and I'm just so sick of them all.
  8. I'm 2 weeks post op. Because I'm on soft/liquid diet a normal meal for me consists of 2oz tomatoe soup, a small wedge of laughing cow cheese and half a yogurt. I take my time and it takes me about a half hour to finish it. I feel satisfied but not stuffed when I'm done. Am I eating too much? I'm so afraid of doing something wrong.
  9. Sleeved on 1/25. Been doing the liquid diet but catch myself drinking my protein shakes too quickly. Worried that I could have stretch pouch doing this. Is that possible or ok because it was just liquid. Old habits die hard and I'm so afraid I'm gonna mess something up. Input appreciated.

    Liquid diet

I've been doing 2oz soup and 2oz of thinned (with skim) yogurt for my meals but sometimes still feel hungry. I'm hoping it is because it is not solid food. Anyone else feeling the same way? Seriously hope that once I start solid food I get that quick full feeling.

    Liquid diet

I agree. Getting sick of fake sweet liquids but sticking to it. I do feel hungry at times which worries me but I've heard that is normal while on liquid diet. Anyone else experiencing hunger?

    January 25th sleeves?!

Ad5707 I get the same thing. Not every sip but occasionally get pain in chest or sometimes belly and then need to burp. My nut told me it is because we are still swollen and that it is normal.

    Liquid diet

Oma. Same here. I feel like I'm constantly watching the clock to make sure I'm getting everything in. I like your timer idea though. I just set one on my phone. This app truly is a blessing. It just puts my mind at ease knowing that we are all dealing with similar things.

    January 25th sleeves?!

Walking girl I'm in the same boat as you. A little pain in my chest once in a while and having a little hunger. I spoke with my nut today and she said that hunger is typical when you are still on liquid diet. Stomach still tender too but not bad.

    January 25th sleeves?!

Me me me!!! Had mine done on the 25th and doing great. Not getting all of my water or protein in yet but getting close. How bout you?
  16. Mine was about an hour forty five but I had hiatal hernia repaired as well.

    So weak

Thank you for the info. Def puts my mind at ease. I'm not a good "resting" person. Was trying to do a little laundry today and just didn't feel good. Probably pushing too much too. Thanks again!!!

    So weak

Anyone dealing with being light headed too? I had surgery four days ago and I'm weak too. I am on liquid diet so thinking maybe I will feel better once I add some solid food. I'm making sure I'm getting all protein and water in too but just feel shakey and woozy. Please tell me this is normal and will pass.

    Hungery

I'm four days post sleeve and I feel hunger too. It is scaring me because I thought the surgery was supposed to make me feel less hungry. Is it because I'm on liquid diet? Does it go away eventually?
