Any May Sleevers?
Day six of preop diet. It's not really getting easier but I am doing ok. It's just enough food/protein to keep me from feeling super hungry.

Is it just me or does anyone else have "hollow" days?
Read all the advice above. Those posters have lost and maintained since sleeve surgery. They are offering some sound advice for getting back on track. I have drilled into my head "dense protein first and alone" lol. Good luck!

Regret, full feeling, satisfaction
I am a grazer so I never ate huge portions. I actually envy non grazers because it's more dangerous (weight gain wise). I wish I ate big meals although now that I'm reading this it's clear we all have a cross to bear. My NUT told me that nearly everyone has a moment of regret but she also said in nearly everyone it passes and they move to elation. I hope that's what happens for you. 9 days till surgery for me. I'm having all kinds of nerves.

This is my fantasy. Do you do anything instead to deal with stress and boredom?

Pre Op Liquid Diet Starting Today
I'm allowed food. I'd be losing my mind on just liquids
-
Approved!!
Good job. I'm on day 5 of the diet and am really hungry today. Saltines sound good! I can't have many carbs so they're not an option. I think I'd eat an entire sleeve of them at this point! [emoji23]

Pain meds
Thanks everyone. I think I'm a little nervous because my gallbladder surgery was rough. Appreciate all the input.

Pain meds
I hate them. I'd like to get by on liquid Tylenol. So a couple of questions. How long did you need them? What medicine was prescribed? Did you receive liquid or pills? Thanks!

Approved!!
If you explain that to them I'd hope they'd understand. Did they say you had to lose a certain amount of weight before surgery? Ketosis is when you eat so few carbs that your body starts using fat for fuel. I always feel energetic (after the first few days of carb detox) and my hunger is low. They sell sticks you pee on and it'll change color if you're in ketosis. They're over the counter. I intend to do this after surgery as low carb is the only way I've been successful in losing weight.

Approved!!
Oh man. All liquids. Hopefully you get into ketosis and feel great. I love being in ketosis!

Anyone tried a Hydration Station?
The hospital I'm having my surgery at does not charge for them (or just a copay for a typical dr appt). It's an hour away so if I go to my local hospital it's like a regular ER visit price wise.

Feeing sick
Omg! So glad you went to the doctor! Yikes!

Unjury protein
Great idea. (Are you a NE Patriots fan [emoji173])

Protein shakes
Me too! Love it! Hated the vanilla. Strawberry is ok for me.

Approved!!
Congrats! I go the day before you so I don't have any advice on surgery. I'm three days into my preop diet. I am getting 800-900 calories and feel kinda off. Shakes save me when I'm hungry. It's not as bad as I thought but I can eat food on mine. I think you'll be ok missing a day as some surgeons only require ten days (some none!). Good luck!

Seems like so many people are in May. Keep posting everyone. It's so helpful for us that are going soon. I'll be sure to do the same for the folks behind me.

Started the liver shrink today!
Haha I just asked you if you started in a different thread. What's your diet? I do two shakes three snacks and lean cuisine type dinner. I'm at about 900 calories. It's been ok so far.

Dr. Nowzaradan guidelines-very confused!!!
Thank you, I really appreciate all the wonderful information and advice you give!

four and half months post op
All I can possibly think is to lower your carbs to around 20 and see if that kickstarts ketosis. Seems like you should definitely be losing with what you eat. Maybe bumping calories up some when you exercise. Must be so frustrating.

Dr. Nowzaradan guidelines-very confused!!!
So true. Low fat low calorie is a miserable plan for me. Low carb has always helped me far more. I too had a cupboard full of low fat low cal cookies etc. I lost very little weight doing that and I was always hungry.

I have a question. When you say "dense protein" is that meat and fish as opposed to protein shakes?

Reversal of cholesterol, high bp, diabetes
My Dr did say that cholesterol and bp would depend on genetics. Fingers crossed. Still. The numbers your numbers are down so that's good news.
