  1. Thanks for sharing! I'm preop and am scouring this website for information just after surgery. I have read a lot but love seeing everyone's different experiences. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. No doubt! I don't think I have even worn a size 12 since I was in middle school!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Just wanted to thank you for sharing your journey step-by-step. We are Close in age, I am 31, and my surgery is June 9. I enjoy reading these updates. I hope that your pain subsides soon and that you feel more confident about being home with the kids. I too will be home alone with my children after four days post op when my husband will return to work. I have two boys ages 7 and 10 so I am hopeful they are able to help me out. 5. Hi there! How exciting that you are taking this life-changing step at such a young age. I am 31 and wish I would have done this five years ago. I am still preop and have a surgery date of June 9. I look forward to following your journey! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. You can send them to me! LOL Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I was told about five years ago I had the beginning stages of nonalcoholic steato hepatitis or fatty liver disease. My liver enzymes were elevated however recent blood work has shown they are at a normal level. I don't know if this means I have reversed the fatty liver or what but I amlooking forward to losing weight and never having to worry about it again. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  10. Hi Kimber, I'm sorry, 2 more months added. I guess that BCBS is one of the slowest ones. I'm glad to hear that you're scheduled, at least. Does it feel a little better to have a date to count down to? It actually does. Even though it is two months away I have a date to look forward to and it kind of helps settle all of the emotions you spoke of in the first post. I sure hope you get your date soon and I'm looking forward to following your journey! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I also have Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and my BMI is 54 and I still had to go through with all six months. Like others have said it's more than just a wait. It's a time to learn everything you can about post op and how to be the most successful with your new tool. I just finished my six months on April 1 and I feel fully prepared and confident but I will be successful after my surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. I too have BC BS and had to jump through all the hoops you did. I finished everything on April 1 however due to a medication that I am on that suppresses my immune system I can't even have my surgery till after June 2 which led to a surgery date of June 9. So believe me I understand having to wait a long time after finishing the requirements. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  18. Just wanted to add to the convo, my surgeon has not done a band in over two years because of the possible complications. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. I am SO excited. This is something I have thought about, prayed about and researched since September of 2014. I was originally planning to be self pay but I received an unexpected promotion last year and along with it came amazing health insurance. I won't have to pay a dime out of pocket for this surgery. It's an amazing blessing. My family is so supportive and my two kids are excited to "see mommy skinny". Lol How about you? You're so close! Excited? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. Hi fellow Virginian! I'm in Bristol! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. Thanks! I'm in Virginia, but my surgery will be in Tennessee. I live right on the border between the two states. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. my insurance company told me multiple times that they didn't have a requirement. My doctors office insisted they did. I finally requested to speak with a liaison and she emailed me the policy that said they did require 6 months. It was like pulling teeth trying to get info out of the insurance company. 23. I actually only take it every 8 weeks so it should be fine! They are afraid if I have surgery sooner than 8 weeks after it will cause complications with healing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. I just finished up all of my pre op requirements. I am on an immune system suppressing medication so I have to be off of it for 8 weeks before I can have surgery so it looks like I'll be sleeved on June 9. it's funny you mentioned nerves and hives. On my wedding day I was covered in hives from being nervous! Lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  25. Yes! I have finished my 6 months required by insurance as well as the surgeons requirements (2 classes, psych eval, support group attendance, physical within last year, meeting with nutritionist and medical clearance letter from my PCP.) I would have had surgery in May but one of my medications is an immune system suppressant so I have to be off of it for 8 weeks before surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
