    Really struggling

This is exactly what I'm going through right now! My insurance requires 6 months of dietitian appointments and my last one is August 18. My insurance does not say I have to lose weight but just show that I've had unsuccessful attempts at weight loss. I have gained weight, too, since my initial appointment and am worried I'll be denied. Have you been approved by your insurance yet? I'm glad I'm not the only one that has gained a bit. It seems like everyone else has no trouble losing weight during the 3- or 6-month period before their surgery. I'm envious! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I got the insurance approval on the 29th of july and it only took about 7 days for them to approve it, then the surgery center called me that next wednesday and gave me a surgery date of August 29th.

    Feeling so nervous

Heck yeah, 20 days left I get more nervous as the days pass. I know this is what I want and I know that if I don't just do it and get it over with now I will somehow talk myself out of it.

    Really struggling

I just finished with my last NUT visit, I too had to do 6 months supervised weight loss and I actually gained 10 pounds in the 6 months. Good thing my insurance doesn't require me to lose weight or I would be screwed. I will say this don't be so hard on yourself try your best and just stay focused on the end goal and that's Surgery. Good luck!
  7. I too last week on the 20th finished my last of the 6 visit I had to complete with the nutritionist. They said it would take like 7 days and I have been making myself crazy checking the insurance website, finally I emailed the Nurse navigator and was like wasup? lol she told me they submitted everything and were just waiting on the approval from the insurance company. I hating waiting and I lack patience so I'm dying Good luck to you!
  8. So I had the last of my 6 nutrition appointments yesterday!! Next they'll submit to the insurance and then i'll meet with the surgeon to schedule my surgery!!

  9. Hahaha... I did the same thing. My first NUT appointment with official weigh-in was on Dec. 12. They told me to lose 7 pounds. Instead, I gained 5. It was holidays and I was supposed to lose weight?? I was going to be happy if I'd just not gained... but that was not to be. You know what motivates me to exercise right now? If I'm sitting on the lifecycle, I can justify reading for an hour on my nook! I'm supposed to have surgery next month, and I wanted to get on the ball with exercising. I need to stop making excuses and just do it so that it's not a culture shock when actually have to do after surgery.
  10. Sometimes I find myself wanting to eat everything and it's normally bad stuff, stuff I know that I wont get to eat after surgery and stuff that I know I will have to completely cut out of my diet. I had gained like 8 pounds at one of my NUT appts and I was mortified. But I knew what was going on, I was eating crap because I knew that within the next few months I wouldn't be able to eat like at all. I also was having trouble getting motivated to exercise, I really have no excuse I have exercise equipment at home.

    Any Ohio sleevers?

Hello!! I'm in columbus and I'll be having VSG surgery in August!!
  13. I started the WLS process back in January, because my insurance requires me to do 6 months supervised diet with a dietitian, my last visit with the NUT is 7/20. I've had all my pre-op appt and I've never met my Surgeon, they made me do a WLS seminar to even start the program and I could either do it online or in person I opted to do it online so I guess i missed my chance. I won't meet the surgeon until after I have my last NUT appt. I did a lot a research on him, I'm really kind of stuck because I work for a specific healthcare system in ohio and my insurance wont allow me to go to another healthcare system for this surgery so I hope that I love my surgeon, I've only heard good things about him. Good luck to you
  14. My last nutritionist visit is July 14th so I'm hoping to have my Surgery date around the middle or end of August, I would love to keep in touch

    Supervised weight loss

My Insurance company requires me to see a nutritionist once a month for 6 months, I am not required to lose weight though. My nutritionist says they just want you to get in the habit of eating right and exercising so that it isn't a culture shock after surgery.
  16. I met with the financial counselor last week. My insurance requires me to do 6 months on a medically supervised weightloss program, I was kind of bummed but now not so much because I have 6 months to save for my out of pocket.

The other positive is that 6 months allows you to make changes to your habits now so that you are ready when the time comes. Also it goes much faster than you think! Good luck!

You think its a really long time, but it is truly a short time! By Christmas you will have lost so much weight.. You also have a lot of pre-tests to get done, which will take up some of the time!
