  1. @@almond_jay Hang in there, you will do great! The girl that did my very first weigh in told me she only lost 13 pounds from start to surgery. She also told me that I don't have to lose my full 25 pounds, but trying is just as good. 10 is excellent. Just think, 6 months from now you will probably be down 40-55 pounds.. ????
  2. I found the % on one of my pamphlets. There is no explanation. They explain what the procedures are and then the percentage of death. This was the very first pamphlet of information that I received.
  3. I don't have diabetes, but it is in my family and I have been borderline once before. My grandmother and uncle both died from it. So, maybe bypass will be my ultimate choice. I have learned all I can on the sleeve, ignoring anything on bypass after seeing those numbers. Now I have to re-read all my pamphlets to favor the bypass. I definitely trust my doctor, and I trust I WILL follow the rules. I never considered the reason they might have died. Maybe it wasn't under the knife and I am worried for nothing.
  4. So, I've been interested in the sleeve since day one because I always thought, what if my stomach wraps around my intestines and... AAH! ???????? Just the thought made me decide on sleeve. I want so much for this to be successful, and I recently learned in one of my required classes that if I am a sweets lover, the best choice is bypass. I asked my instructor which is safer, and she said they're both very safe. But in the introduction class, they said 1 in 1000 people die from sleeve & 1 in 200 die from bypass. I'm so confused. I need to make this work and stopping my sweets cravings looks like it's what is best for me. I'm expecting surgery sometime in May or June, but it's good to be prepared, isn't it? Which did you pick and why?
  5. @@almond_jay yes I did have my psych evaluation.. The psychiatrist told me I had daddy issues. My dad is an alcoholic and she thinks I over eat because he wasn't in my life. *shrugs* I disagree but she was trying to find a reason why i eat so much. I said because food is yummy. She said no that's not it. Lol. I just agreed to do what she asked. I'm buying a book for ACOA.. and I'll go to a couple of meetings to see what I can learn. I'm open about it, I just don't think that is why I eat. I'm supposed to email her about what I'm doing to change it. So I'll do that in a couple of weeks
  6. I really need to get on it then. I've only lost 3 pounds and I'm on week 2. So i need to really get on it. Thank you do much for this information @@wheezysmom I'm going to stop my cheat days on Sunday and up my cardio. Thank you
  7. I really hope it's not by last name, that would suck for me
  8. @@thegentleoso how does it work to be put in order. Is it in order of weight loss? Or in order of last name? Or first come first serve?
  9. @almond_jay wellll i think i will definitely try to get in as earliest as i can. I also read that the more weight you lose the better chance at not having a cancelation. I will also do my labs as soon as i get them. I have even taken my mental health assessment already. I need a follow up. She thinks I have daddy issues. But for sure i will definitely bug them every other day for a cancellation once i graduate from options. I hope we get the dates we both want. ???? @wheezysmom thank you so much. You gave me hope for a sooner, than later, date. I am excited either way. ????????
  10. Yeah I'm bummed about it too. @almond_jay
  11. I was afraid of the same thing! My BMI is 41, and they told me to lose 10% which will leave me at a BMI of 37. I was concerned and determined to only lose just enough to keep me at 40. But I asked the nurse there, and she told me my weight was my original referral. So I am now determined to lose all that possibly can before surgery. I am only on class 3 of 12 but I'm just as excited.
  12. Yeah, I'd probably be sometime in June. I don't know why I thought it would be sometime in April. Lol
  13. Oh wow almost there. Congratulations! @thegentleoso ????????????
  14. Oh wow, i thought i would get it within 4 weeks of when i finished Options. Thank you so much for the information @Mike23 I really appreciate it. Good luck on your surgery and congratulations.
  15. Hi everyone, I had my official weigh-in Jan 7 & I start my 12-week Options Class Jan 21-April 7. I just have a question, how long will it take after I graduate from the Options program before I get a surgery date? I went to a sleep apnea test recommended by my doctor because I was interested in WLS. I met a lady there who was due for her last class & still did not have a surgery date. How long will I need to wait? I can't even begin to explain how exciting this is. Reading all these success stories are everything I need to keep me motivated! Thanks for sharing.
  16. Wow that's great! I'm also looking forward to learning to learning how to eat better. I'm so impatient but only because I'm so excited!
  17. So, today was my information session class. I pretty much knew everything they talked about because I'm glued to YouTube. Lol. Tomorrow is my first official weigh-in. I'm so excited that I'm getting this thing going. My 12-week mandatory class starts on the 21st of this month and ends April 7. It feels like it will take forever for April to come, but I'm so excited anyway. Especially to do my official weigh-in. They said they will tell me tomorrow how much weight I am expected to lose. I'm super excited and I can't wait for my big day! I'm taking my life back!!! Is anyone in my time line? I can't wait fire my first class to learn all i can!
  18. I've always been listed as 5'5" but I've never really been checked. You know how it goes, they ask your height but never check. I guess I can just "confess" my real height of 5'4.75" .. I'm sure it will work. So thank you @@jane13 I never thought of that. That is a great idea. Now I can start eating healthy now.
  19. Hi everyone, I am so ready to start eating healthy for my day. Since I am still waiting for my appointment for the information session on 1/6.. I'm curious about when they count your first weigh-in. Is it in the very first information class before my 12 week course classes? Or is it that very appointment that I have on 1/6? I'm trying to maintain my weight because I barely hit the qualifying BMI. So I can't start yet or I won't qualify anymore, but I want to so badly. I'm so motivated and ready! Thank you so much in advance for the info. ♡♡♡
  20. Wow, thank you all so much for the encouragement! It means the world to me.
  21. I think this is great advice.. When you use a store card, you get a certain percent off your purchase just for using it. When you go to the store you buy clothes, assuming you have money, you pay off what you used right then and there. At Macy's you get a percent off and save money. Then you use the money you were supposed to use to pay off your card. I do it all the time. Maybe that is what was meant with free clothes? hehehe
  22. I know it's nothing to be excited about, but I feel like things are coming along. I am so excited. Today I scheduled my appointment for the information session that Kaiser requires before taking a 12 week class before a surgery date! I guess I'm just excited that it's really going to happen. Woohooo!!
  23. Thank you for the information @VSG for ALC .. I can't wait for my day to come. My referral from my regular doctor is still being reviewed before I get an appointment to take the information class. I'm waiting patiently. And when I say patently, I mean IMpatiently.. Lol
  24. Congratulations!! I can't wait till I get there! So Kaiser does require a 6 month diet class?
