Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
None of the preop stuff really matters, unless you don't lose. They just want to see you have the best intentions...

In between surgery and first fill
I was banded Jan. 15. I lost 10 pounds in the first 2 weeks. Now, I've gained 3 back. I don't feel like I have had anything done. My swelling is completely gone. I can't wait for my first fill, Feb 27.

Port placement???
My port is under my left breast. I was banded 01.15 and I'm not in any pain at all now. Actually, I feel like I didn't have anything done at all. My swelling is gone so now I can feel my port pretty easily.

4cc band, perfect fill?
I'm 4 weeks out from surgery, I'll have my first fill in 2 weeks. I can't wait! I feel like I didn't have anything done! I have a 4cc band. My doctor said most people are satisfied with between 2 and 3 ccs. What is your experience? My weight loss is mostly presurgical. I've only lost 8 since my actual surgery. I've been disappointed. I'm really looking forward to my first fill, Feb. 27th.

If You Had To Gain Weight to Get Lap-Band Covered By Insurance...?
If you drink a lot of water before you get on the scale you'll "gain".

1st fill today
I went for my first postop appt today. I asked about fills because I'm starving! The PA said I'll only get 1cc put in at the first visit, another cc can be put in 6 weeks later and another cc if I need it 6 weeks after that! I was surprised! She said that I probably won't feel the proper amount of restriction until I get betwee 2 and 3 ccs. Ugh.

New Bander and feeling frustrated
Yes, me too. Frustration isn't something I thought I'd be feeling. I thought that once I got the band I'd be on my way. I didn't know about waiting for fills. I'm in this thing called "bandster hell" I hear about. I'm starving. I have my first postop Wednesday. I'm going to beg beg beg for a quick fill....

approval to surgery time
11 months. I had my first 2 group information meetings last February. I got to meet with the dr. in March; I was banded 2 weeks ago.

Small red blisters near post site - HELP!
My guess would be the tape or bandaid you had on it made your skin irritated. I had some irritation; my husband put Neosporin on it. It's good now.

Weight loss at 1st Postop Visit ? - Jeni
What did your dr say about your progress? I'm in the same boat. My postop appt is Wednesday.

Why the Lap Band?
I've never heard of the gastric sleeve. My hospital has done a lot of the weight loss surgeries. In all of the classes I had to take it was never mentioned. Is it experimental?

Feeling No restriciton and FUSTRATED!
ME TOO! I was banded 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I'm starving. I feel like the dr cut me in 5 places on my belly and just stitched me up without doing anything else. I have no idea when my first fill is. I have a post op appt on Wednesday. Please please fill it a little!

4 days post-op and feel sick
Pain meds can take awhile to clear from your system. Give them some time to clear. Also, are you getting enough protein?

Fluid under skin
I have a collection of fluid under my skin (over the muscle). It's between my belly button and pubic area on the left side. I was banded 2 weeks ago Tuesday. I called my dr's office. They said it was common and not to worry about it. It's worrisome to me. I've never heard anyone else talk about it. It doesn't hurt, I don't have a fever, It's not red. Has this happened to anyone else? How long before it went away?

Does this sound strange to you??
Wow! It took me a little over 10 months to jump through all the hoops my drs practice required. Pre-surgery group meetings x2, Small groups x8, dr one on one x3, tests x3, pre operative physical, cardio tests, diet, nutritionist, psychologist and then we submitted to the insurance. If I were you I would check with your state online to see how many bands your dr has done and check to see if he/she has any medical malpractice claims (just to be safe). If it checks out, good luck.
