  1. Hi Leanne, thanks so much for your positive comments. I am so glad you feel so wonderful! That's so exciting. I am worried I will not make the right choice. I don't have a bunch to lose like some. I need to lose about 70 pounds so I'm concerned with bypass being so much I'll lose too much and look horrible. I'm also worried about the lack of absorbing vitamins and nutrients. I was aiming towards the sleeve until I was told from my scope test I have some acid reflux issues I didn't even know I had.
  2. I'm sorry Bsanders. I wish people weren't so rude! I haven't told much of anyone either just for that reason. I don't want to hear it! Period. Message me if you need to talk
  3. My doctor works out of west penn. it's where he does his surgeries. I wasn't crazy about the idea since it's where my dad died and I haven't even been past there since then. Just feels weird. Many years back but that's why west penn ????
  4. Congrats and good for you!!! Wonderful to hear your doing well!
  5. Thank you everyone who commented! I will make what decision my doctor and I feel is right for me. I've done a ton of research on both. I'm not going in blindly. Just with what I know about both I feel more comfortable with the sleeve. Who knows what I'll end up getting until I get all results back and meet with my surgeon in 5 weeks! That's a lot of time between now and then. I just want to feel comfortable with the decision I make. Ive been exposed to the band, bypass and yes the sleeve in both family friends and coworkers. I understand completely that any of them are tools to work with. I guess time shall tell. Thanks everyone!????
  6. jj7481 you are very right with much of what your stating. I agree with it. I am not crazy about things being all scrambled around in there. It's good to hear the recovery seems to be the same timing. I'm glad about that. I have 7 family members who have had bypass also and they all are just fine also other than the dumping issues. They all gained a good bit of their weight loss back also. They seem to be able to eat more than a sleeved person. That's concerning. Although they had much more to lose than I do it still makes me question it. I was glad to learn my doctor does not use a drain tube! That would be a total deal braker for me! ????
  7. Thanks so much Kristennichole! I feel the same! I don't have any problems now with reflux other than some lesions they found inside when hey did my scope. I would have never known.
  8. I only have about 75 pounds to lose. I want the sleeve but was told I have barrets esophagus and some reflux so it would really be had if I had the sleeve. It would just make it much worse. I'm so bummed. I was really reaching for the sleeve. Wasn't prepared for what I was told today. Also congrats on your weight loss! That's so good! You should feel fantastic!
  9. Do you have much to lose? Why did you chose bypass over sleeve?
  10. Hi Conner. My doctor is Dr Eid. Glad to hear you are doing so well. Did you have bypass?
  11. I found mine at my local grocery store (giant eagle). Hefty brand. 30 in a bag!
  12. I was just told today I may have to get the bypass instead of the sleeve since I have barrets esophagus and some reflux I never knew I had. I'm looking into an April surgery. Any one else out there getting ready from Pittsburgh or near by? I'm actually in Washington Pa

  17. Hi mom of 4. I am right on schedule with you. I just have my pulmonary and stress test to do and then I'm all done with all my requirements. I go to my 4th dr apt tomorrow and my heart tests are next Wednesday. I'm trying to move this sooner since it's my doctor requiring all this not my insurance co. Crazy how much is involved but seems to have went quickly. As much as l love foods I'm ready too. Good luck to you!

  21. Hi! I have never heard of this. Sounds interesting tho
  22. The psych evaluation is so simple. Mine I went in during one of my scheduled visits. It was a man. I filled out a piece of paper with my demographics on it and info like parents/siblings smoker/drinker/psych etc He asked me how confident I was to getting the surgery and was I absolutely sure about this. I told him my family history of weight issues and how I too yoyo all the time. He asked what my fears in life are and if I have problems with nightmares or see a psychiatrist or psychologist now or ever. Asked if I had family support for this. Asked if I worked. Asked who I lived with. That was pretty much it. Truthfully it was a total waste of time. Nothing to do with the surgery. Money maker for the insurance. Nothing to fear. Honest. It lasted about 35min. Then I went onto my visit with my NUT and PA. My NUT just goes over how I'm doing and asks what my typical day is with choices of foods. Offers me better choices from what items I tell her and we together come up with much better ideas. She gives me suggestions and ideas and just goes down a check list. Then the PA comes in and goes over my medical stuff and tests with me. All in a days visit I do know some people who go to their NUT also have to incorporate an exercise class. I don't have to do that. So maybe each place is different. Good luck to you!
  23. Yep look into that. Don't want a Kojack! Lol. 10,000 mg a day. Start it now. I lost a bunch after my elbow surgery. Took a tool on my hair and it's thin to begin with. Your right about the Protein. I'm workin on it ???? Also ya that's what I mean the gas ex for. I know they blow ya up with all that air and it gets trapped ????
