The Day is almost here!!!
So Ive been browsing the site and replied to many others with well wishes and finally my day is here on Wednesday, July 26th! I am just sooo excited that I can't contain it internally. I am literally salivating at the thought of the losers bench; the extra energy; the lighter body to finally hold a plank for 2+ minutes; easier push ups; easier stair climbing the treacherous NYC subway stairs. Just can't wait for life to finally be grand! And one NSV - I will finally since the age of 12 not have to go to the "Plus Sized" department!!! My pre-op diet with my surgeon is only required for 2 days but I will start it on Sunday instead. All clear liquids only - no protein shakes nor meals. May be tough but it will surely be worth it. Are their any potential sleeves for July 26th as well. Would be great to encourage one another. [emoji3][emoji1437]

Fourth of July worries?
Nope not at all. I've had those bad food choices and alcoholic beverages my entire life and it hasn't gotten me that far. So, I am looking forward to the complete lifestyle change. You won't miss it! Good luck [emoji2]

Surgery date July 25!
How exciting! My surgery is scheduled on July 26th and can't wait to join the losers bench!

Who are you telling (pre-op)?
Exactly why I will not tell any colleagues. Some colleagues run their mouths too much. Hopefully the word doesn't get around. [emoji1374]

Who are you telling (pre-op)?
I personally didn't tell anyone about my upcoming VSG. Criticism is only invited if someone knows. So, if in the back of your mind you feel their may critique then most likely they will. You told enough individuals and have a great support team already no need to invite anyone else in. Good luck!

May 8th! Any May surgeries out there?!
How did surgery go? How are you feeling?

Scheduled but NOT approved... Normal?
Well the pre-admission testing is normally good for 30 days leading up to surgery date. So just remain optimistic that you will be approved.

Newbie
Its up to you if you wanted to start this early and try out various protein shakes to see which one you would like. But, often times what you like Pre-Op may not be the case Post-op. Continue with your nutritional appointments and nutritionist will give you a guide on the best protein shakes which offer the most protein. From here on out it depends if your insurance carrier requires for you to lose weight prior to approval. But, if they don't just ensure that you gain no weight during the required 6 month visits. Try to start get moving a little more. Try incorporating the gym more so it's an easier transition after your surgery is completed. Try to eat a little more lean and introduce more veggies to your daily meals if you haven't done so.

I'm off too brussels next week anyone else been?
You should do relatively well. Albeit - the endless Lebanese treats on every corner in Brussels and to die for chocolate will be tempting but the losers bench taste so much sweeter. So, you will do great! Enjoy your time there! [emoji3]

I'm off too brussels next week anyone else been?
Belgium is great and no issues due to language barrier. Was just there 2 weeks ago and everyone speaks English.

My Journey!!
Are you journaling or keeping tabs in a nutritional app? How many grams do you consume daily?
-
Let's talk NOT meeting protein goals
Which shakes have you tried so far? Their are several shakes on the market especially vegan ones that do not leave an after taste. You must consume at minimum the average amount of protein for optimal health balance and to ensure rapid weight loss.
-
Am I eating too much protein?
You're doing absolutely fine. Every body is built differently. For me - I am 5'11" so 60 grams of protein will never cut it for me. I am on the minimum 80-90 grams up to 110 grams per day. So no worries.
-
My Journey!!
How is your protein intake? Overall, it's predominantly associated with protein levels.
-
What is that one thing you look forward to so much, post op?
My main goal is to remain healthy and avoid having any ailments due to the excess weight. In addition, one NSV I want it to have room left over on my seat belt while traveling on a plane. If I gain an extra 1" on my waistline I will need a seat belt extender. [emoji30]

Dr. Gregory Dakin?
Dr. Dakin is my surgeon as well and my nutritionist is Liz. At the finish line now and just need to complete one support group meeting. Hopefully after this support group tomorrow I will be approved for surgery.
