  1. @@Lenoreholden You can do it! Hang in there! It will be worth the hard work!!
  2. Thank you all for your responses! I have been drinking the Crystal Light with no problems! I'm alternating it with Water, and it certainly helps me meet my fluids goal! Thanks again!
  3. I walked around the hospital several times a day after surgery. I'm one week post op today, and I've been walking 45 minutes a day on my treadmill, split into two sessions.
  4. My surgery was on @ 7:15 a.m. Monday, June 20th, and I was discharged late afternoon Wednesday. Ask your surgeon about this.
  5. My bypass surgery was Monday, June 20, 2016, so I am 4 days out from surgery. I think a nurse told me that I could drink Crystal Light after surgery, but I don't see this on my food list. However, they served me Crystal Light in 1 ounce portions while in the hospital. Crystal Light has aspartame and it's my understanding that the body processes aspartame just like sugar. I don't want to experience dumping. Anybody been told they can or can't drink Crystal Light after surgery?
  6. I am scheduled for bypass surgery, June 20th. I started my one week pre-op diet yesterday. It's the cabbage Soup diet with fruits or veggies on certain days. So far it's going okay. I think Thursday will be the most difficult day -- soup, bananas, and skim milk only! I know I can do it but I hope the day goes by fast. I'm wondering how I will feel those first few days after surgery.
  7. @@pammieanne You and I are close to the same height & weight, and we're both waiting for insurance approval! Maybe we can keep in touch and support each other through this!!!
  8. Thank you all so much for your responses. It makes me feel better to know that what I've been doing is somewhat normal and you all even have a name for it-- a food funeral! That's exactly what it is! @@lifeofblair Looks like you're doing great! I hope I can do as well! @@NoOneIsStoppingMeButMe Only 4 days to go... Good Luck!!! @@Djmohr Wow! You are doing awesome! Only one pound to your goal weight!! Congrats! @@MKJohnson15 Good luck! Only two weeks to go!
  9. While waiting on insurance approval, I find myself eating anything and everything! I keep thinking, "I'm not going to get to eat these things much longer." I am eating more than normal and need to stop! Anybody else go through this? How do I stop my mind from doing this to me?
  10. What was I so worried about? Easy Peasy!!! Thank you @WLSResources/Clothing Exch!!! It was pretty much like you said. I'm good to go!!! And thanks to @@James Marusek and @@Miss Mac! No lengthy questionnaire, just questions and conversation with the psychologist. I appreciate your responses to my questions.
  11. Thank you @WLSResources/Clothing Exch! I feel a little less nervous after reading your post. I guess it's always uncomfortable having to "open up" to someone you don't know!
  12. Just getting started in the process. Have been to see surgeon, and have appointment with nutritionist and psychologist tomorrow. I'm a bit anxious about the psych eval. I don't know what they are looking for. I plan to be totally honest about everything, but is there anything that I might say that would cause them to NOT approve me for surgery???
  13. Thank you all for your responses. I will do as some suggested and check with my surgeon's office about the food log. Thanks again!
  14. I'm just starting the process. Have attended seminar and completing paper work. I have a couple of questions. 1) I'm concerned about past weight loss. If I show that I've lost weight successfully on my own (in the past), will they still allow me to have surgery? (I've lost & regained many times over the years. Never got down to a real healthy weight though.) 2) I have to turn in a two week food diary. Do they want to see what I normally eat - OR - do they want to see my efforts toward better eating habits? Thank you!
