How to Change your Mind....
I'm 5 months post op VSG and down a total of 145lbs since starting my journey. I hit my daily Protein goals (80-100gs), always get my 8+ glasses of Water and work out just about every day. I'm rubbing a half marathon next weekend and went shopping today for new running compression pants that actually fit and I'm wearing a medium! I've never been this small in my life, I was wearing men's 2xl tshirts in middle school. I cannot help but struggle mentally. I'm a super positive peppy person in ever other aspect of my life. Despite doing everything right, losing successfully, kicking ass! I can't wrap my head or mind around the positives and this new healthy me. I still see and feel like the same 340lb girl. I'm trying to change my mind and see the positives and how far I've come....but I can't seem to look past what I still see as flaws. It scares me that even once I can get the skin removed I'll still hate my physical self. It's like being body-bipolar. The goal was always to be healthy. And I am. But I want to feel and believe it. How did y'all overcome and/or deal with the mental aspect of all the changes?

Before and After Pics
You look amazing. We started at the same weight and I've been stuck at 224. Can you provide me any pointers? Oh and when was your surgery date? If you don't mind me asking? My surgery was 11/10/15 and I lost a good chunk pre op. But def just don't stress the scales and numbers. It just makes it all painful! For me the scale moved more the more work I put in at the gym. And diet wise I try and stick to mostly lean Proteins, seafood, sashimi and veggies and drink tons of Water. you'll get there! I'm at 199 now.

3 days till plastics tiiiime!
Sending happy thoughts!!!! You definitely seem as prepared as you can possibly be! Can't wait till I'm to that phase. Good luck girl!!!!!

How long was your pre-op process?
I consulted in March 2015. Did 6 months supervised diet and then was scheduled for November 2015 (first available for my surgeon). Waiting sucks!!!! But I'm thankful I'm that it gave me plenty of time to prepare mentally ((mostly by reading other people's journeys on here)) and start making healthier choices. Good luck!!!

Thinking about it....
This site is definitely a great resource to read through other people's experiences and learn a lot about what to expect on the journey. I'd keep reading and gathering information. Knowledge is power. Schedule some consults with surgeons if you haven't already. It's scary and not at all an easy journey, but getting healthy is so worth it! I was 340 at my HW. You can do anything with a little hard work and dedication! I wish I'd have started it at 22! Good luck!

The transition to vegetarianism…
I found this at costco and it's been a great alternative for when I'm missing Pasta. A 2oz serving has 24g of Protein.

Beginners Guide to Running for the Obese
Definitely all great advice!!!! I was sleeved November 2015 and have been training to do a half April 17th. I've been struggling diet wise to have the energy to sustain me for the long distance runs. I'm still really restricted. Eat healthy but hitting 1000-1200 calories is a struggle. How do you eat on your long run days? Or are you planning on packing Snacks or carb loading for race day? I attempted the Disney princess half 2 years ago at 280lb+ and made it 9 miles before my body gave out. Not I'm definitely more prepared but have a whole different set of concerns. I'll be up at 2/3am.....race starts at 5am.....I typically eat just lean Protein and veggies, with a premier Protein shake each morning for Breakfast. Any recommendations for race day? Definitely looking forward to it tho!!!!!! Good luck with yours!!!!!!

Newbie here
Congrats on taking the first step! You'll do great! I fluctuated a lot from the time I was little (always overweight) until I started this journey last year. I was sleeved November 2015 and it's definitely the best decision I've ever made health wise. Being able to be more active and keep up with my kiddo is by far the best part. HW 340lbs. SW 259lbs. CW 199lbs. Still a ways to go but definitely doing my best to enjoy the ride. Good luck girl!!!

Tall ladies!
I'm 5'10 and my goal is 170lbs ((which would also be 50% from my highest weight of 340lbs)). I'd like to stay at or below 170lbs since my "healthy weight" ranges from about 150-170lbs.

My body thinks it's funny!
I'm bordering it as well and less than 5lbs away! Driving me crazy and I absolutely cannot wait! I can't remember ever as an adult being under 200lbs. The last time I remember a scale starting with a 1xx I was in 5th grade. 180lbs. Cried and avoided scales like the plague for years! Getting fit has been the best thing that's ever happened to me.

I'm finally in Onederland!

Has anyone lost 100+ pounds?
I was sleeved 11/10/15 and lost 80lbs preop and in total now since surgery 118lbs. Totally possible just follow the plan!

How long between 1st consult and surgery date?
My first consult was in March. I had to do a 6 month medically supervised weight loss program w my PCP. Then they were scheduling 6 weeks out. I had my sleeve done November.

itching?
I also read somewhere rapid weight loss can cause stretch marks to become really itchy as well. There was some science about why that I can't recall! But it was def worse than the itchy incisions for sure!

itching?
The itching was the worst!!!!! I grinned and bared it the first few weeks till my incisions healed and closed up. Lotion and warm water soothes it for me.

Please come here and tell me what you are eating....
I'm still on puréed but part skim ricotta mixed w some tomato sauce and a little garlic pepper....taste almost just like lasagna. That's been my fav so far for sure.
