Am I rambling like an addict?
Glad I'm not alone! Still think I need therapy. Kate, congratulations on your weight loss so far!

Am I rambling like an addict?
Ok, so I’m almost 3 weeks out and my relationship with food is just bizarre. I don’t crave it, I don’t really care, and so far I haven’t felt physical hunger - not even once. That being said, just this week I: Cooked curry and traditional Polish potato& meat pie for my parents, then made a chocolate cake for my colleagues at work followed by a lemon meringue tart for the friend I live with Watched 5 episodes of Masterchef Australia and a documentary about fast food (how does that even concern me? Obviously I won’t have a pureed take away!). This is ridiculous. I haven’t tried any of it and didn’t want to, and I can’t really figure out why it is that I’m doing it. Mostly I feel like since I KNOW I can’t have it and WON’T have it no matter what, I can actually enjoy food without eating and the sense of guilt that I usually felt afterwards. It’s like I know it can’t harm me, so I’m safe. But then I just think I’m like a crack addict and I use this as a substitute for a good old pigout session. Anyone who can relate to this twisted behaviour?

What is your "scale" strategy?
I'm only 20 days out so I suppose my attitude toward the scale will change over time. As for now... I'm obsessed with it. I actually put my scale into the closet so I wouldn't weigh every day. Didn't work out! I still do it. However, in the week 1 and 2 I would step on the scale billions of times a day, so I guess that is still an improvement. (?) However, I only log my weight once a week, each Monday.

I have a gift for many of you...
Oh well. It's just the Rants&Raves section. Don't deprive people of their fundamental right to rant! And the best thing about this section is... if you feel offended, disgusted, outraged or upset about something other people post, you can always start a new thread that says 'OMG grammar nazis just get over it'. Enjoy your rant!

Stupid things people say when they find out you've had surgery....
My formerly good friend (one of very few I actually told) said 'Why would you tell me that? I didn't need to know that!'. 'Well I guess I needed to know you're a b***' was my imaginary response. The actual one was closer to 'Just in case you cared'. She acted as if she was uncomfortable with me sharing such a 'personal' information. Fun! I'm so over her.

Going through surgery single
I'm 18 days out and I've been single for the last couple of months. Honestly, I think going through major changes like these can be easier without a significant other, as long as you have friends and family support. It seems such a rollercoaster, I seriously don't think I could manage carrying for someone else's expectations, fears and mood swings related to my WLS at the moment. I have too many of them myself. When I get bored with myself and my newly found ability to be selfish, I guess I'll make a little room for someone else!

While I don't agree with some comments (specifically ones that refer to spelling and grammar mistakes) I don't think the intention of the original post was sarcastic. To me it's just pointing out the obvious - if you turn for people for help/ support/ information, pay a little attention to how you do it. You might want to make it easier for them. Also, I don't think you need to be a native (I'm not) or educated to understand the difficulty of getting through someone else's stream of consciousness.

Chest pain?
Thank you! I'll see my doc on Monday.

Chest pain?
Well, I couldn't reach my doctor today so I went do the ER. I was given chest Xray and the abdominal ultrasound, and nothing seemed wrong, my HR, BP and saturation were also fine. They ruled out pneumonia and the doctor didn't seem very concerned about the blood clots. I'm still having some doubts tough... From what I read, you can't rule out blood clots with Xray. I guess I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Chest pain?
Man, that sure sounds scary. I'll go to my doctor's office today...

Chest pain?
I'm 2 weeks post op and since yesterday I've got a strage feeling in my chest, especially in the mornings. It's hard to describe, but it happens when I inhale air into my lungs, like... they don't have enough room to expand? I didn't expierience anything like that earlier on. Also, it kind of gets better throughout the day. I wouldn't call it a pain but it's definitely a discomfort. Anyone knows if this is normal?

Men hitting on you when you are fat
Security! There's a man in the ladies room! @BigViffer, I appreciate your good intentions, but what part of female-only-for-ladies-only don't you get? No offense, of course.

Men hitting on you when you are fat
@betrthnever, thanks for the words of encouragement. I guess your head is always your worst enemy. I hope I'll manage to work on that as I go on.

Who Are You?
I'm so glad this thread exist. As much as we are all focused on weight loss, there is a person behind every single ticker here, and a story that goes with them. I love salsa! I work in an NGO as an equality coach. I believe in equality. I’ve got a sharp sense of humour that some people find sarcastic, but I don’t think it’s mean. I’m Polish and I live in Poland. I am a vegeterian, but because of the surgery I put it on hold for a while. Hopefully not to long!

Cooking for others after VSG
To all of you who love cooking or simply have to cook for the family – how is it after VSG? I was sleeved 10 days ago and I’m on full liquids, so I can’t eat pretty much anything normal people would consider a meal. But I always loved cooking for friends, family and obviously for myself, which is partly what got me here. Today I spent the day at my parents’ house and decided to make some Greek moussaka for them, and I must say, I really enjoyed cooking it and did not feel any sort of temptation to try! One thing I did before getting the sleeve was cooked every single recipe I absolutely love and wrote down exact how many tbsp/tsp of each herb and spice I used. That way I don’t even need to try it to know it’s delicious How do you cope with cooking meals you shouldn’t eat yourself now after the sleeve? I’m thinking, maybe it’s going to get harder once I’m on solid food again…

Buyer's Remorse?
I was sleeved August 19th and the first 2-3 days were hard, but now it's just alright. One thing that kept me from getting all miserable and sorry for myself was the fact that despite reading hundreds of threads on this forum, I've never actually come across someone who had this surgery long time ago (year or more out) and regreted it! It made me positive that the bad feelings will eventually go away.

Men hitting on you when you are fat
@esskay77 thanks for the support and words of encouragment @meggs353, yes, I can see what you mean about the weight loss. I'm actually not that interested in men at the moment, since I'm mostly interested in myself and my diet, which may seem egocentric but I find it healthy. So I'm not exactly looking for guys, may not be the best idea to get involved while there are drastic changes coming... That being said, if someone interesting happens to be there, I will try tu give him (and myself) some credit. Thank you girls!

Men hitting on you when you are fat
So I'm 26 now I recently sleeved, and this topic is WLS related. But since there are a lot of women here who are/were overweight and struggling with their weight, I thought I would ask a question about MEN. Can anyone relate to this problem? I have been everwight since I were a child and this really affected my confidence. I'm still kind of a pretty-face girl, and men do hit on me from time to time (not that often, but it does happen). And yet i usually reject them right away, even when there is a certain physical attraction. I just assume they are approaching me cause the think I'm an easy target - 'obviously a chabby girl won't miss that kind of opportunity' kind of thing. I know it's pretty stupid sometimes, but then, it seems to me men often are much bolder and daring with overweight girls. So from time to time it makes me think how many opportunities of meeting great men I missed because of my low self-confidence. Does anyone have/ did have the same issues?

Hi everyone! I'm new
Thank you all I do have a nutritionist, I'll be seeing her next month so it's a good idea to ask her. I did met few other girls who were undergoing WLS in the hospital and we exchanged e-mails, but somehow they are all getting bypass, not sleeve, so it will probably be more psychological support then informational. Anyway, I found a lot of information on this site, I've been reading it since I decided to go through with the surgery and I am so glad it exist. See ya!

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
Mine was a traffic accident, after which I gained 68 lbs in about one year. I was always overweight and then also obese, ut the with all the medical and psychological consequences of the accident I completely lost control over my weight. After about a year I finally decided to get help.

The doctor said only walking and moving could help so I made myself stroll... I did get better after a day or so, and now it's not realy bothering me that much. It can still be quite uncomfortable though... hope it will go away along with the pounds.

Hi everyone! I'm new
Hi to all you sleevers and sleevers-to-be! I've just had my VSG (August 19th) and I'm looking for a good support group, so I joined the bariatricpal. I'm from Poland and unfortunetely I haven't been able to find any local support group. Not sure if because the surgery is less popular here or because of the stigma attached to it. So I just wanted to say hi, I'll we sticking around. I'm hoping for the best. My surgery weight was 253 lbs, I am now 246 lbs. My goal weight is around 155 lbs (70 kg, we don't use lbs in Poland so it's an adjustment) Margie
