  1. As an update I have now lost 22 pounds in a little over 3 months. This was faster than my band but I had really hoped to have avg 10 lbs a month. I am also training for a half marathon so I've been working out like a champ. I lost most of it on the first 6 weeks and have only lost 2 lbs the last month. I haven't been great about watching what I eat. I make decent choices but need to be better. About to do a 2 week detox through lifetime fitness. Will update later with progress.
  2. Thanks for the post Deerfield. From what I've read there is usually a big loss after a stall like your having. Fingers crossed for you.
  3. I had the revision on Thursday and will be back in the office at a desk job on Tuesday. Will have to do some work from home tomorrow thou. Ideally would take more time but had to take vacation for the surgery...
  4. Interesting! Have PCOS and was asked to take V D supplement pre surgery based on my blood work...
  5. I did a raw food 30 day challenge ( with an unfilled band) and lost 12 lbs without trying. I never lost that much on a low carb diet. So I think it depends on the type of carbs. Personally, I don't count any greens or non starchy veggies as carbs ( thou I know they are) because my PCOS doesn't seem to react to them the same way. I treat fruits similarly -- with the exception of dried figs and dates.
  6. Any weight loss updates? I was banded in 2008 and didn't have much success with the band. I think the most I lost was 25 pounds (started at a bmi of 30 though). I have had so many problems with the band that I am converting to a sleeve in a couple days. I am hoping I have greater success with the sleeve... I have gained all the weight back I lost being banded plus 30 lbs. The only time I have ever lost weight without trying and more than 5 pounds in a month was when I did a RAW food 30 day challenge. Lost 12 pounds without trying!!! Even doing low carb with PCOS wasn't nearly as effective.
  7. I asked my doctor and NUT this question. I will be on full liquids for my first 3 wks and they both said as long as the smoothie would easily strain through a mesh strainer I could have them. For me that means I will have to Water mine down quite a bit as I usually prepare thick, but will be able to drink from the start if I want. I have a RAW Protein powder I am planning on adding to mine. The other thing I've thought of is just doing the RAW protein mixed with coconut milk. The raw protein has a lot of good greens in it.
  8. Did people lose faster when they were using the band than when sleeved? It seems like people are averaging, at a minimum, losing 10 lbs a month when sleeved. I never lost 10 lbs in a month when banded so will be delighted if I lose that with the sleeve.
