  4. I feel so dumb.... This whole time I have been calculating my BMI based on how tall I thought I was. I was worried how I would get surgery approved for my BMI of 39 bc I have no comorbidity.... Well I had someone measure me at the hospital I work at, I was calculating my height at 5'5, I'm actually 5'31/2 which puts my BMI at 40.9. That means I should automatically qualify for surgery. I have never been so happy to be wrong lol
  5. my psych appt was only 20-25 min long, what could they possibly talk to u for 3 hrs about, that's long, u only have 4 months of nutritional visit lucky you, I have 6 & don't have to do a sleep apnea test or that endo test, I think it's called endoscopymy psych appoinment was like 2 1/2 hrs long

  7. How did your surgery go with Dr. Ortiz? I have been researching him in case my insurance does pay then I will use him. Did you like him? Did they treat you well? Hope all is wellCamille I'm scheduled for July 28th. I haven't had it yet sorry I misread thought it was June 28th lol

  9. Thanks you guys I needed to hear these things. Not telling her would not be an option. As mad as she gonna be and worried I could never go to Mexico and not tell her. I also am a single mother and my daughter will not be going with me. I do have a back up plan if my mom refuses to keep her thinking that would keep me from going. This is all contingent on not getting approved through insurance.
  10. I have been researching surgery in Mexico if I get denied through my insurance. I feel confident and at ease with going to Mexico if need be......the only problem will be my mother. She will do everything she can think of to keep me from going to Mexico including threatning to disown me. She really wouldn't but just the stress of the arguing I'm not looking forward to. Any suggestions anybody?

  12. Hi everyone. I found this forum today and have been reading all afternoon. My name is Camille, I'm 46 and from Missouri. I am a single mom of a beautiful 14 y/o fixing to be 15 y/o girl. I'm a RN and have been a nurse for 24 years. I am currently in a bachelors program and graduate in March, I am also going through a divorce. I have battled with my weight for about 10 years now. I have lost 20lbs since leaving my husband a year and half ago and kept it off and then lost and gained another 20. I had my psych eval yesterday and don't see the surgeon for a few weeks, so I am early in this process. I have insurance through my husbands job, very good insurance, railroad insurance. The problem for me is my BMI is 38.9 and I do not have any comorbidities that I know of so dealing with the insurance will be a nightmare. If I get denied Mexico will be my next plan. I love this forum and have found a lot of valuable information.
