Is my friend avoiding me?
Hi, I used to meet with a friend weekly for breakfast and lunch. Since my surgery 2 months ago, it seems like this "friend" has been avoiding me. I've seen her once since my surgery when she asked me to give her a ride to work. This was about a month ago. I could be overacting but my gut is telling me that she is in fact avoiding me. She's overweight but her PCP told her she wouldn't be a candidate for wls due to some of her medical issues. Did anyone else have a similar experience with someone they knew?

Dr Fitzer Reston
@downlbs Here's what I thought of my experience...The nurses was pretty good (although night staff was a little slower to respond) and my questions and concerns pre op and post op are always addressed by Dr. Fitzer's office staff. I do recall them telling me during a pre op visit that I would only go home on Tylenol and no pains meds would be prescribed. The first few days were rough pain wise (oxycodone was ok not great), but I turned a corner around around day 5 and I started to feel better. Overall, I would do it again same surgeon, same hospital although I did hear very good things about Inova Fairfax but he no longer performs surgeries at that hospital from what I understand. I hope you're doing well now.

How did you choose your doctor?
Wow! The weight loss stats for the lapbanders and sleevers who responded to this post are amazing! I'm about 80% sure that I want to go with the lap band. My biggest concerns with the lap band is my body rejecting it and the possibility of erosion. My biggest concerns with the sleeve is that it's too new and isn't reversible if there's a complication. I have one more orientation next week and then I'll choose my doctor.

How did you choose your doctor?
I'm considering bariatric surgery (lap band). I found three doctors in my area who perform the surgery. Did you visit several doctors before you made your final choice? How did you narrow it down to one? The doctors that I found conduct free orientation sessions, but charge a fee for the initial visit.
