  1. The abscess? No that comes from one of your incisions not healing properly. I had a really nasty on years ago after my hysterectomy. I had to have a nurse come out for wound care. As for eating eggs. I'll admit I feel a little guilty eating them even though I buy cage free. However I need them to meet my Protein goals. I probably eat eggs every day. Thankfully they don't upset my stomach no matter how I prepare them. I love hardboiled eggs that why I was using them as a snack. But the Dr told me yesterday that the white part of the egg is extremely difficult to digest. He suggested that I eat it warm off the stove or smashed up in eggsalad or what ever. However it will be a cold day in you know where before I'm brave enough to try them again… just sayin… .
  2. How far out pre op are you
  3. Well as it turns out I have an absess I dont know what the treatment entails but I can say that I am thankful that I am getting pain medicatiin. I have been in so much pain since last monday so I know they will give me pain medication while im in the hospital. Could this all be over a little hard boild egg! I will never again in my life even make hard boiled eggs much less eat them! How far out past preop are you
  4. I use the meal reminder app and set it for the number of meals/snacks I need per day. That way you know when to eat and believe me that alarm gets pretty annoying because you think man I just ate. This way your head hunger can't convince you your hungry because your app is saying ita not time to eat.
  5. thanks and you too
  6. Congratulations on your surgery. You need to be supper delight in regards of following the liquid and soft food guidlines and give your stomach time to heal. This happened to ke andvi was on solids so you never know what food is going to cause you issues. The hunger is dehydration try drinking water when you start to feel hungry. It is my understanding that it is head hunger this early in. It is a very uncomfortable situation I am in now but I promise you up until Monday I had zero issues. Nor vomiting, nausea, pain after about 3 days of surgery. Nothing, I was like did I even have surgery. So don't feel like its all going to be miserable you will soon feel good I promise.
  7. It was 6 weeks on Thursday that just passed. 10/22. Sleeved on 9/10 I only started on solid foods the week before.
  8. I kind chuckled when I saw this I have been in so much pain since eating a hard boild egg last Monday. It caused inflammation and an abrasion right where the stomach curves after the esophagus enter the stomach. I can to eat or drink anything without the most pain ive ever had in my life. I spend all day feeling like I am having a heart attack. I'm not complaining necause I did it to my self but I thought I could share with you all. The only good news is that I have lost over 10 lbs in a week but at a costvi didn't really want. I am sucking it up trying to drink the protein and water but I am feeling like I may have to go back to the Doc. I have been to the Er they know its not a bloodclot and Dr. T done the upper GI with barrium and we can see where even the liquid is pooling and he said it could take abput two weeks to heal and to go back to soft food but it just hurts so bad I can't do it. Staying with the shakes for at least the protein
  9. Exactly, I just started using a measuring spoon to prepare my serving and at this point in, since I can only consume such a small amount breaking out a scale and subtracting the weight for the saucer, bowl, plate etc. Is overkill. As my portion size increases I am sure it will require changes in how I measure or weigh it. I was just trying to figure out the best way to keep track of such a small portion of food and it seems that a measuring teaspoon is doing the trick.
  10. My insurance company ABCBS CovaCare required a monthly call from a RN for 12 months before I could have surgery. We talked about everything from A-Z and I have to say it really was the shortest year in my life. At first I was very frustrated but when I had the surgery on September 10 I was prepared and well informed for what was to come. If you put it all in perspective, why would an insurance company want to spend that kind of money on someone not willing to commit to a small window of requirements, as WLS of any kind is a life changing event and a lifetime commitment. I was told by my Psychiatrist at the time of the evaluation that the statistics show that a large number of prospective patients are weeded out because of their lack of commitment to just follow through with basic insurance requirements. Don't make the mistake of thinking you will be different. These requirements are for a reason and if your committed to a real-life change you have to start at the bottom of the ladder and climb each rung as required to get to the top just like each and everyone of us on this site has done. There are no shortcuts just determination and sticktoitiveness.
  11. There was a website mentioned in my paperwork and I checked it out yesterday. So far so good you can enter the amount of food by teaspoonful etc. Giving that I try now to see how it goes. I don't like sites that ask for alot of information because I don't have that kind of time just to track food. Its Sparkpeople.com
  12. 191.8 on this chilly Virginia Beach morning. I hate cold weather now! Use to love it, never even wear a coat in the winter. Isn't it crazy how weightloss changes that… .
  13. @"stephh" I hope your doing well, you haven't posted in the week or updated the spreadsheet which is very unlike you. Hope all is okay.
  14. Very interesting links. Thanks for sharing them.
  15. Journaling is not my favorite thing to do but do it I must, I guess. I am not talking about nibbling though, I am talking about the meal itself. I have a meal reminder set on my phone that alarms every 3 hrs for meals and snack. So I may put 2 teaspoons of tuna and a teaspoon of cottage cheese on my plate but only get half of that in. Your right I am going to have to make a chart until I can get a handle on the portion sizes. Thanks for you ideas.
  16. That is exactly what I do, measure it by teaspoons. I just never really thought about doing the math on equivalents. Guess I need to break out my kitchen conversion chart. Sometimes it just helps to hear it from someone else.
  17. Can someone explaine how to count the calories or protein in a couple bites of this or a couple bites of that? I understand if I have a foil pack of tuna and I manage to eat it in its entirety by the end of the day but what about the times when you don't finish a serving of whatever. I am afraid that I am either over estimating or under estimating.
  18. I am 48 and as of today am 5 weeks post op and I can tell you that when my alarm goes off at 5:30am I only hit the snooze once. Prior to surgery I could roll myself out of bed until 9:00 even though I have to be at work by 10. By the time I got home from work at 5:30 I needed a nap. Now I am actually a part of the evening activities at my house. I am only hopibg it gets better as more weight falls off. You will feel better and by keeping a healthy positive attitude you will feel better faster. Good luck to all of us midlifers!
  19. I felt the same way and still do actually, Did I really have 85% of my stomach removed? I haven't had any nauseousness at all, nor have I pushed the envelope and the only pain I had was from the allergic reaction to the dermabond adhesive. I am 5 weeks post op today I feel like I am loosing weight slower then alot of others when I see there results posted in here, maybe because I started at a lower BMI, but who knows it wasn't that much lower I don't think. On the day of surgery I weighed 216 and as of Monday I weighed 192. If it were not for the fact that a couple bites fill me up or drinking liquids fill me up I wouldn't believe I've even had weightloss surgery. I keep waiting for all he!! to break loose.
  20. You are an inspiration and you look fabulous! Congratulations
  21. Lynn I sent you a friend request sylvia smith bryant. Hey I have an idea, maybe we all can get together on a Saturday some where centrally-located.
