  1. Could it have possibly been coloring from any of the many pills that you took? Just a thought.
  2. I haven't tucked my shirt in my pants in more than 6 years!
  3. Exactly. We don't have WLS to lose weight fast. We have it so we can lose it and keep it off. I only lost more than 10 pounds for 2 months. I just posted this in another thread. Doesn't make me any less successful! Month 1: -17 Month 2: -10 Month 3: -9 Month 4: -8 Month 5: -5 Month 6: -5 Month 7: -2 Month 8: -7 Month 9: -7 Month 10: -3 Month 11: -5 Month 12: -7 =85 pounds and goal of 150 Month 13: -3 Month 14: -5 Month 15: -0 I love that you gave us the breakdown of your weightloss. I have often wondered what the typical progression looked like.
  4. I put a spoon of what ever I wanted on my plate but by the time I finished the turkey and had a bite of the ham I never made it to the rest lol, it was on my plate so I felt like I had it lol. I am only 2 and a half months out so like Babs, the true test will be next year.
  5. Can someone refresh my memory as to why we are not allowed caffeine containing drinks.
  6. congratulations, its a pieceb of cake you will do great!
  7. Shoulder pain is a classic symptom of an absess I have since learned after my own experience with an absess
  8. Update… . I asked my Doc about artificial sweeteners at my appointment. His exact words were, "I don't care if you use artificial sweeteners, really no difference in which one it's your preference. It's not going to hurt your weightloss"
  9. Checking to see how your feeling?
  10. Thanks for the link. That is probably the best written and most informative article I have read in regards to the whys and why-nots. I have a VSG so alot of it doesn't apply but informative none the less.
  11. I just read this entire thread and was wondering how you are doing?
  12. good question here. I too would like to know if there is a "good" artificial sweetener or if all are taboo. I will ask the NUT today while at my Dr's appointment. I believe I read in my WLS bible binder from my NUT that your body doesn't know the difference between one sweetener or the other, it just recognizes them all as a sugar/carb. But it's an important bit of information to be sure of.
  13. Same thing here but the pain started high at the top of my stomach radiating up into my left arm. Felt like I was having a heart attack. Every drink or bite of food I took was excruciating, but the pain never stopped. Turned out I had 2 pockets of fluid. After a week of pain and discomfort I had to go back to the ER and it had become an absess. That started a week's long stay in the hospital. So the moral of my story is even after you go to the ER, if you haven't found any relief in a few days go back. 2 weeks without food or liquids equal a very sick puppy. I had no idea how ill I was until they transported me from one hospital ER to the hospital where my surgeon practiced. Praying for a good outcome for you!
  14. Thank you, very much! However, I can't take all the credit. I was in the hospital due to an absess, so some of the loss was just because I was too ill to eat. But it was still very exciting to see my name listed as the top % of loss. Thank you for your hard work and time spent working on the challange.
  15. After reading this entire thread, I am just going to say this sorry if its offensive. Ignorance is no excuse. You are responsible for gathering the necessary information for success. The use of my "failed surgery" term is too loosely used. A failed surgery is that which due to a medically unforeseen complication resulted in unforeseen adverse challenges. Refusing to wrap your brain around lifestyle and behavior challenges and necessary changes is a "patient failure". Excuses are just that and you won't find any of those in medical journals. Sorry if your feelings are hurt or you feel like you are being judged. That's life, you don't get a participation trophy in WLS.
  16. LMBO these exact words came out of my mouth on a couple of occasions!
  17. Yum so many ideas!
  18. Thank you all so much. I have just been afraid to try different things thinking they were not allowed, but from these examples I can add alot of variety.
  19. Anyone like to share an example of their daily meals and snacks? I am 2 months out and need some ideas. I am tired of the same old things and to be honest I have never liked to cook but now I find I want to but just have no ideas.
  20. Hey I have a question for all. At what point did you stop wearing you current clothing after surgery. I am 8 weeks post-op and down 38 lbs but I can still wear my same clothes. I just tighten up the belt or whatever. Plus I now can just dry them instead of hanging them up to dry yeah! But my family members keep saying stuff like your pants are too baggy stuff like that. But I just think they are comfortable so why bother. What do you think is it a psychosomatic thing or is this what everyone does?
  21. Okay, I thought tht is who you said before, but I couldn't remember. Dr.T is my doc as well. I love him and his entire staff. You will do great!
  22. Sounds great! I added you!Lynn, how did surgery go? How are you feeling? Actually I didn't get to have my surgery on the 27 th I went in even got all the way through getting my IV and all my pre surgery meds and into pre-op for 3 hours then the anesthesiologist found some irregularities in a thyroid test that had been taken two months before so they said it wasn't safe to do my surgery not knowing what my thyroid levels were that it was possible I could even crash during surgery so they said they would do a thyroid test and then get the numbers put me on meds for a month retest and then reschedule the surgery I was pretty bummed but it was better then the alternative of dying in surgery however the next day the surgeon called back and by some miracle my thyroid test came back normal so I don't have to wait a month they rescheduled my surgery immediately for this coming Thursday November 5th and in all actuality a Thursday surgery works out better for me as my husband can take less days off work and it is only a difference of a little leas then a week and it proves to me they have my best interest at stake so it all works out bit I will keep you updated! Better safe than sorry! I wish you a quick recovery. Everything will go wonderful and you will be on the way to your healthier life! Keep me posted of your progress. Remind me of your surgeon again and is it at a local Sentara Hospital?
  23. Sounds great! I added you! Lynn, how did surgery go? How are you feeling?
  24. @@lizag234 you are only a few days post op. Based on my experience I had one episode of head hunger around that 2nd week and it was when Hubby made tacos which is my favorite. It was extremely frustrating and I had to go to another area in the house to avoid the smell even. I drank my protein and water and made it through. The next time he made them. I just stuck to my guns saying there is no wway your hungry you just want it. Drank my water and kept my self busy. I started using the meal timer on wrek 3 when I progressed to soft/pureed food. When it went off I ate, in between I focused on my water and sometimes crystal light peach tea. I wish you luck but your doing great I think everyone finds their tolerable place within weeks 3-6. Please feel free to message me any time if you need to talk. It is nice to have someone to share and compare notes with.
