@@retrieverguy You are getting there. I admit I called my insurance several times just "checking" to see if I had been approved yet. lol You have done great this far...you're almost there! When are you going on vacation? I'm going the end of July to the beginning of August. I'm taking a week to do my pre-op diet/cleans before surgery.

My thinking is that I wanted to be able to tolerate eating solid foods before I go back to work. I too am a nurse and I don't want to feel week or have an issue with nausea while stuck in a case for several hours at a time. I really hope 3 weeks is enough time.

I've been scheduled for August (YAY), I am planning on taking 4 weeks just to make sure I am ready. How soon did you notify your employer that you were going to be gone? Once you received your date, how soon did you fill out FMLA paperwork? I'd like to hear people's experiences with this. I'm about 40 days before surgery and I'm wondering how soon I need to act. Thanks!

I'm sooooo happy! I got a call from the Surgeon's office today and they scheduled me for surgery! We decided on August 10th. I wish it was sooner but I have a vacation planned for the end of July and don't want to be out of the country post-op. Suddenly my stomach is in knots and butterflies. I guess it's a mixture of joy and holy crap! lol Any other August sleevers??

I have BCBS. I am 38 with no previous cardiac history. The cut off for mandatory EKG is 40. I asked the Doc about checking, or even possibly removing my gallbladder, but he suggest since I'm not having any problems or symptoms it's not necessary.

Well, I had my very first appointment today. It went better than I expected! My surgeon is amazing. He said I am a great candidate for the VGS. I also saw the Behavior Health Specialist and Nutritionist today. That's pretty much all I have to do. My insurance has me on a fast track so it's just a waiting game now. My patient advocate says she usually hears back from the insurance company between 1 and 2 weeks!!! Now comes the nail biting???????????????????? Not-so-patiently-waiting.... So friends, how long did it take to get your final approval?

Good morning and Happy Friday! I'm having my first appt today, meeting the surgeon, behavior health specialist, and nutritionist. I'm very nervous and excited! I had a million questions to ask them yesterday but this morning, I can't think of a single thing! LOL
