Rant from a single woman!
So, here I am, 35 and fixing to undergo RNY surgery in August. I'm not, in my mind, an overly large woman (the doctors and their charts tend to disagree), but due to multiple medical ailments, I haven't been unable to lose weight, and in fact, keep gaining. I'm okay with having the surgery, but in the mean time, trying to find a good man is nearly impossible. I'm sure they are out there, but thus far, I have met guys for dinner and never heard back from them. A few have told me straight up that I'm to "big" for their likes. Each to his own, but I wouldn't want to be with someone like that anyway. Here is my rant/dilemma...if I'm having a hard time finding a guy now, and I have surgery, then all of a sudden guys want to date, that really shows how shallow they are. Me and my lack-of-a-filter mouth is likely to say something if this were the case and it might not go so well! I've heard the same in the past from friends who had lap band surgery, but I'm not sure how to politely ask them WTH?!?! Has anyone experienced this? Not being able to find a person to date then all of a sudden, you lose weight and they're knocking at your door? How do you handle this? I don't expect the guys to be lining up outside my door, by any means. A few people at work know I'm having the surgery (I'm open and honest about having the surgery) and I've even had a few guy tell me "You're going to be so skinny I'm going to want to date you!" WTH!!! Not interested....NEXT! Just putting this out there and seeing if any others think/feel the same or experienced this and have any input.

I had my psych eval today. If that doesn't make you crazy, I don't know what will! I know its needed, but it just seemed a little much for the surgery. Anyway, next is my appointments for the blood work, ekg and clearance from my PCP. I'm worried that, because I have type 1 diabetes, my A1C may come back high and then they will postpone the WLS. So, if y'all can send some prayers, good vibes, positive thoughts, etc. this way for the 27th, it would greatly appreciated! Here's to (with fingers crossed) I stay on track with surgery August 26th!- First appointment with nutritionist yesterday...went great !
GREAT JOB! Its always nice when some of our fears/concerns are put to rest. I'm about 7 weeks out and struggling to cut the drinking while eating. Ahhh, I'm so afraid I'm going to hurt myself because its such natural response. Oh well, it will only happen once if I do the things I'm not suppose to. Keep up the good work!- Vitamins
Hi guys & gals, So, in preparation of my August surgery date, I'm trying to get everything I will need post op. I've got my multi-Vitamin (Flintstones chewable-because who doesn't want to be a kid again ) , my Protein for shakes, a chewable b-12, but I'm stuck on a good Calcium citrate. Does anyone have any suggestions? I currently take a gummy calcium, but I'm told we cant take the gummy ones. Just trying to be as prepared as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated!- Official August thread! Where are you guys?

Norther Virginia! I have two more pre-op meeting with the dietician, but everything seems to be moving along fine. I keep expecting a speed bump but nothing yet. I'm nervous right but ready to get this over with and start living!- Official August thread! Where are you guys?
Aug. 26th here!! Best of luck!- Pre op protein shakes causing tummy issues
Try changing the type of Protein shake you are using. I find that if I use soy protein I have the same problems. whey powders work better for me. Just a suggestions. Hope you find something that works for you.- Official August thread! Where are you guys?
August 26th here!- Nutrilite® Double X® Vitamin/ Mineral/ Phytonutrient info
Are there any post-op patients here that have used Nutrilite® Double X® Vitamin/ Mineral/ Phytonutrient? I currently take it, but I'm unsure if its an acceptable vitamin/supplement for post surgery. Any info would be helpful.- Type 1 diabetes and gastric bypass
What about the pre surgery diet? Did you have to do the liquid diet? Suggestions on Protein shakes that are low in sugar? Another question...are you in the pump? Do you have a local endo? I'm not happy with mine but can't get anyone to recommend a good endo. My BS said they may take me off the pump before and during surgery but I'm not even sure where to begin with all that... (I may be stressing a little????)- Type 1 diabetes and gastric bypass
I'm looking for anyone that may have type 1 diabetes and have had, or going to have, gastric bypass. What to expect with the need of insulin. What happens if you have a low blood sugar (especially before foods are reintroduced). Any information would be greatly appreciated. - Official August thread! Where are you guys?
