  1. Great job! I'm working to enjoy the journey too.
  2. I saw my surgeon today. Went in because I've been so nauseated - barfing -and had a crazy bellowing stomach for the last 2 weeks. Figured it was my lyme meds but was a little worried about a leak or obstruction or kidney trouble. Seems it's a little of both (lyme and bariatric). I've been losing about 2 lbs a week (averaged) and he wants me to slow down, to up the carbs. Wow, that is so hard to wrap my head around. But he said ill feel better and metabolize what I'm eating better. Well, while I thought this sounded like fun for a little minute he wants me to up the carbs with gatorade, blech. Apparently this is to have better control over the amount and to not get into bad carb habits. I feel like I have this little window and now I'm going to boof it up, and with what? Gatorade. Ugh. And start another new med at $150 for 30 days (well, go back on one I'd stopped). I hate my insurance. On the plus side we did an upper GI and everything looked good so no leak or block. Still have to have gallbladder function testing.
  3. Yea! Its very exciting, isn't it?!
  4. Good for you! And its gonna get better still.
  5. @@Veronica Page Iive and learn right. I had barbecue yesterday. No bread, no slaw, just the meat in sauce. Man, was so good. And almost no activity. 2 lbs up today. Gonna be a very low carb day for me today and lots of liquids.
  6. Hope my little bit helps. It's a devastating situation.
  7. @@wannaBthinsoon i have days of constant hunger (today) and days of meh, nothing sounds great (last 2 days), for example. Today I ate as much as the last 2 days combined. Anyway, I think when you get on real foods it will be better.
  8. I mkae yonanas once in a while but only eat a little bit. I have my ginger slices. And, once in a real blue moon, I have a slice of CPK tostada pizza. Its very thin crust and one piece only.
  9. Ostrim, soft jerky, cheese sticks, macadamia nuts ( I know they are high fat, I count the little #$%&%s), pistachios, peanut butter packets. And ginger slices cause sometimes I get really nauseated.
  10. Are you on any blood pressure meds? You might need to reduce, talk to your Dr.
  11. @@socialbutterfli mine said he'd need to check the scar tissue, but it turned out not to be a problem. @@VSGmary what are the symptoms that led you to have your gallbladder removed? Was it stones or did something else alert you to a problem?
  12. I told myself so long as they didn't expect me to cook those goodies early on I'd be ok. Either they can eat what I'm eating or they can make/get it themselves. It was tough in the early days but it has gotten better for me; I think it will be easier for you too when you have more options again. Most of the time I'm perfectly happy eating this better way. Now I even cook them stuff they love that I don't eat. Good luck!
  13. I am visiting my hometown next week. My brother and his sweetheart of a 2nd wife have been married a year but their cake was so good they ate it all instead of saving the top for their anniversary (and they are both buff!) . So they asked me to bring one out to them (they used to live here) to celebrate. I am not tempted by too many sweets, but wedding cake is a different story. Went to pick it up this morning and the bakers place smelled so dang good!! Man! I hope that thing makes it to Illinois!
  14. @@downsizingdiva your family let's you have the remote? Wow, I've heard of that!
  15. The first time I went thru the wls (band) consults, I had a terrible infection in my foot that required 3 surgeries of its own. You could see the bones and tendons. I didn't have wls until it had healed but it took long enough that by th e time it was, I was thru with all the prep and ready to go. This time I had a picc line in (6 mo of IV) and they did the surgery anyway. I just had to wait until I was well enough. In both cases, the wls was very easy (comparatively). So yes I agree; keep going thru the consults.
  16. I lurked for seven years in fits and starts. Started contributing when I had my sleeve in January. I do love this site, has been very helpful for me.
  17. I love the food network but I can't watch it anymore. The last show I watched was the 10 best breakfasts in the U.S. and I thought I would combust with desire for a peach Dutch baby.
  18. @@Eli Alexander how brave are you! I would love to take a new path. But I'm chicken and have a kiddo starting college in 2 years. Congrats on a courageous and surely awesome journey.
  19. @@spiritfilled this situation does seem freak worthy! I hope all goes well!
  20. @@glitter eyes wow congrats to you on that weight gone. I'm 50. My legs aren't terrible. My belly is going to be saggy, no question. My arms, the part I would love most to be sexy, are flapping all around. My face has drooped. Ah well. Still feel lots better.
  21. Sounds like no pants Friday! Good for you, wow, that weight has really melted off. (Men!)
