I'm here to help...
Linda...nice to see your post. We were posting about the same time. Oh, would have been nice if you could have met up with Lori and I. I never thought it would be that far for you. Great photos. Your GD is sooooooooooo cute. Good to get her into the exercise early. I had a friend that has had both hips done. Each a year apart. She was in her late 30's at the time. (She beat herself up exercising, running, playing racketball). I know she was younger but she says it was a breeze. I also have another friend that is going in a couple of weeks to get his second done. He cannot wait for that pain to be gone. Just do as your doc says and you will have good results. Did your SD ever have the gallbladder function test done? Not just ultrasound. I suffered for 10 years and kept getting negative results. Doc would not listen to me. (Nothing worse for a doc's ego than a patient that self-diagnoes). I insisted on the test and showed it was only functioning 11%...surgery the next day. Botched surgery and spent 5 weeks in hospital. Just something to check out if it has not already been done. Gotta go.

Well, got home from apt and saw a combine in the yard with a corn head on it. Maybe corn harvest will happen after all. Spent the day shrink wrapping furniture. Tomorrow and Monday furniture is being moved and all the boxes. Tuesday or Wed is cleaning day and then we are done. It's been a huge project and I can finally say that tonight I am SHOT. Been very careful to get extra calories in as to not lose any more than I have during these physically stressful weeks. Lori and I are pretty much set for our meeting next Saturday. You all say a special prayer that our roads are good so this meeting will take place. (Please). Julie...did you injure that shoulder at some point? Or did you have a job that you repetitively used it? I am happy to hear that they let up on the PT for now. I feel so bad for you and PLEASE do not stop posting. We can take whatever you have to vent about. Lord knows we ALL do enough of it, and, do you hear anyone complaining? Nope! Hope you get some of that much needed sleep. Just thought I would check in b/4 my guys get in from tiling in a mud hole. They will be hungry, muddy and tired. My poor entry way. Baked ham, garlic potatoes, sweet corn, pepperoni corn bread and two different kinds of bars for supper. Not at all band friendly food but I am sure they spent some calories today. DH has taken off about 10lbs in the last two weeks without trying. Gotta get the table set. Hope you girls are having a great time together. How was my foo foo drink?????

Cheri...Long John Silver has a grilled salmon that isn't too bad. I do not like to waste money on things I cannot eat either. Great...your GM sounds so cute and so fun. How many 100yr olds get out and really want to do it. You go Granny! LauraK...cograts on raising an independent daughter and for teaching her that she has all kinds of options even though she is hearing impaired. Melissa...How ya doing? A better week this week? Hope you were able to turn that bus around and get back to your better eating habits. No fun to hit that wall. Meredith and Julie, someone scare you away? Missing you. Well, was a busy day and ready to follow DH down the hall to the bedroom. Told him to give me 5 cuz wanted to check in with my "girls". Did apt...packing glass from curio cabinets, went to wake for young many 36 who died of a heart attack (by no means was obese) and then heading home and thinking I would hop in bed early. Got the bug to do some cooking and lunch packing for tomorrow since I will be at the apt. again for the entire day. Feels good to have it done. Oh yeah, replaced my lost diamond bracelet...it's on my finger. Typing is going slow....I keep looking at it. Had it sized. Told clerk I wear a 4 on left hand and a 4.5 on right. Told her twice....she had the jeweler do 5.5. Cuz you don't want them too tight, ya know. Darn her. It won't stay on my finger so now a trip back to get sized AGAIN. Waste of my time and just wish ppl would listen and do what a customer wants. Anyway, beautiful ring I picked out....if I do say so myself. I am going to ask for the $$ back that they charged me for sizing. It will be at least that if not more for gas spent going back and forth for the second time. What happened to the days when you bought something and things like that were included. OK...enough complaining. I need to breathe deep and think peaceful thoughts b/4 bed or I'll be dreaming dreaded things in technicolor. Hey Laura...hope things are going OK. Got my days mixed up and thought the "shopping expedition" was today. Have fun girls! Wish I was there with ya. Have a foo foo drink for me...

It's Allie's turn for plastics!
Thanks for the update, Danny. Think of you, Allie, and these next few weeks as you recover. It will all be worth it in the end. You were a beautiful woman the way you were...but...a little more icing on the cake can only make it better. Take care and you are in my prayers for a speedy, painless (ya, right) recovery.

Have a great time, Eva. Drive safe, load the trunk up with "useless sh_t" as my DH would call it. Hey...I've always been going to tell you girls about a scent that I like and Janet talking about little shops brought it back to me. When DH and I were in St. Augustine last year we came across this little shop that has soaps, candles, candies, etc. They had this body mist that is absolutely the best smelling in the WORLD. It's called Rain made by Terra Nova. All they had left the day we were there was their sample bottle and she wouldn't sell it to me. Went home and ordered on Amazon.com (for 1/2 the price). Anyway, it's the best. Makes me feel like a jungle goddess when I wear it!!!!!!!!!!:bored:

LauraK...I think your daughter would be a lot closer to Meredith in Michigan. It's also about an 8 hour drive for me..depending on her exact location. I love it up there. So beautiful. It's difficult having them that far away, isn't it? I handled the empty nest. I missed them but proud they were independent enough to get out and go. My youngest moved to Alaska at 18. Lived there for two years then onto Santa Barbara for a year, to Daytona Beach for 4 and now in Atlanta for 1 year as of today. He makes my head spin. Miss him but with the business he has, it has to be located in or near a larger city. Great did zumba for awhile. If I remember right, she enjoyed it. There are days I wish I could join a gym. Too far of a drive for me and I am very active so would most likely be a waste of my money. Glad you enjoyed it....half the battle when it comes to exercise. I thouroughly enjoy the tread mill. I have a Bose system and Bose head phones. Either listen to a book or sing to the top of my lungs. It keeps the guys out of my house!:bored:

If you go up to the top of the page and click on "User CP", when the page comes up, scroll down and you will see all your "Subscribed" threads (threads that you have posted in). Just click on the thread you want to visit and you will see the entire conversation. If it is a long thread you will want to click on "Last Page". As far as eating and drinking...you should really be making this a practice in your daily routine. You should be eating your "hard" proteins first and then and veggies or fruit that you can eat till you are full. Depends on what your doc's orders are on how much he wants you to eat at meals. Some say 1/2, some say 1cup. A typical meal for me once I was on solid foods was: 3oz of hard protein (chicken, tuna, fish, lean beef), then I might have a couple bites of veggies and that's all I could fit in....even b/4 my fills. Drinking while eating washes the food right through and you will not feel satisfied as long. Sorry to hear you had trouble with your first fill. Are you chewing your food reallly good? Not chewing or taking too big of bites can cause problems. Practice eating very slowing, set your fork down in between bites and chew, chew chew.

Good Mornin' Girls... Even earlier morning this morning. DH had hopped out of bed (happy and smiling) and said "Good Morning, Honey". I looked at the clock through my grogginess (with one eye) and it was 3:20am. Now, I AM a morning person but it's been 4am for a couple of weeks now. It's called "Making hay when the sun shines". To translate into what that means for us is "Cutting in fertilizer when it's frickin' cold". (Only way it works is well below freezing). Anyway, by 4am, coffee with DH was over, all the lunches were packed and ready to grab, a load of laundry done, dog fed and watered. Still need to plan supper in the crockpot cuz I will not be home later in the day. Heading back into apt. today for more packing and stacking. Sis is heading back home again today and need to be there to help. She was diagnosed with a not-so-good disease a year ago and stress and too much physical exersion can bring her out of remission and lots of discomfort. Also have a wake to fit in sometime later today. My friend's son (36) died of a heart attack. This family is also related to "mom's" family. Really sad. His mom is one of my neighbors at the lake. Janet...the steering in the right direction comment....it was just my tactful way of saying...."Watch out...I hear Janet coming"! Hoping you all have a good day. Can't remember if today is the "shopping" day. If it is, have fun and take a little slack out of the checkbook...you deserve it. Hope Earl does not get too bad of a case of "shopping mall bench butt".

Oh NO!!! Falling down the stairs is catching just like the dead battery virus that's been going around. Coconut....I think you are the third person in a couple of weeks to take a trip down some stairs. I did two weeks ago and was very lucky not to break anything. Came out of it with just a jambed wrist. It will be fine but still wakes me up at night. Are you OK? Anything broken? Good goin' on your eating and drinking habits. Be patient. You've just been through surgery. This part of the journey is for healing. We all know it's tough to stick to the certain food stages post-op but there is a reason for it. You doc wants you to heal properly. Are you weighing yourself every day? If so, try to avoid the scale for a bit. Give things some time, continue to follow doc's orders. I know it's tough but so worth it! Hope you heal quickly from your fall. Poor Girl!

So sorry you lost your mother and for all you are going through. You are making a step in the right direction in asking for help. Can you give us a little info on how you did to begin with after getting banded? Did you lose? Have you been seeing your regular doctor for your diabetes issues? Just jump in and ask any questions you might. We have a great group of people here and there's usually someone that will respond to your post. Janet (Indiogirl) started this thread many, many months ago and is a great help. She does not mince words and if you need a shove in the right direction, she'll steer you there. Welcome.

7 years, lost 120, got rebanded!
Tennessee...think you hit the nail right on the head...key word being "deprivation". Depriving oursleves sets us up for failure. LP allows us to eat but just in smaller portions. I never feel deprived. When I first had the band I stayed away from so many "naughty" foods. Now I allow myself anything. I do have some foods my band does not allow me to eat but not many. If I want some pasta salad, pototoes, etc., I eat. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy. Keep a food journal, get enough protein per day, take your vitamins, don't get into the routine of eating "slider" foods and enjoy your life. See this as a way of life, not a life of restriction and deprivation.

Good morning! I envy you girls...going shopping in warm weather. We won't see a day like that until at least April. Hope you just have a really good time together. Was another 4am morning here. Had a quick cup of coffee and homemade blueberry muffins (made with no fat...just applesauce and ground almonds) and he was out the door to cut in some more fertilizer. Have a big day. Bookwork this morning and then meeting my friend for lunch (which is also my ins agent) to go over our farm renewal. The scheduled items are the bugger. Gotta grab DH long enough to have him go over it with me to make sure we have nothing to add or delete. After lunch we are going to hit my friend's "overstock" store (all new items he buys in bulk....no two things alike but high end brand names) and also hit the consignment shop in town. I was doing some "scouting" for her yesterday. This overstock store has some really nice things and everything is under $20. A lot of Loft and Ann Taylor, Pendleton (the BEST wool creations), Jones NY, etc. My friend has had a huge gain in the last 3-4 yrs. She was always about a size 6. Type A diabetes and mega weight gain without eating much. Anyway, found her some cute stuff and maybe it will make her feel better. She is an absolute beauty. Looks similar to Melanie Griffith (b/4 the botched face lift) and she is still under 200 but such a slam for her to go from a perfect figure to gaining 75lbs. I feel for her and you know with diabetes you don't just crash diet (it would cause her to crash). So...... that's part of my day. Need to do some things outside this morning and do some Christmas wrapping. Pretty close to done with shopping for everyone. I bought personalized glass domes for everyone (even little great grandkids) in "mom's" family. They we a little spendy but something to treasure forever. She was an angel collector. There's beautiful angels inside the dome and instead of snow it is teal colored glitter. She turns and plays "The Lord is My Shepard" . "Mom's" favorite. On the little plaque is just put "Our Mom, Our Angel" and then had her name written below. For the little kids (4 of them under the age of 7) I ordered "Protection Angels" in the globe and put their name and "Remembering Granny" and then Granny's name under it. Not sure what I will get DH yet. Gold toed socks are always a staple but usually come up with something else too. Just a box of Russell Stover makes him smile and then he tries to see if he can eat it all in one sitting. Yes, Janet, was sick about the bracelet. Didn't even want to tell DH cuz he gave it to me. He just said not to worry "It's just a thing". All I know is that it made me nervous to wear it and I don't know why I was wearing it that day. I usually save it for special occassions but, no, I had to wear it for trying on coats? I just can't figure me out!

Good Evening everyone...things are better and thanks to everyone for your encouragement. It's not such a bad thing to cry and feel the feelings but I just knew I could not be alone again all day and repeat yesterday. Sooooooooooo...I finished up my books, went to the bank and then took off for the lake and just walked around. Was so peaceful up there. We are used to being there when all the leaves are on the trees. Seemed so bare. But it was a nice trip there and back. Even found time to stop at a consignment shop. And, when feeling a little low, buy four purses. They were $8 each. All new looking. In fact not even a spot on the inside and looked like they had never been used. A black cloth DKNY, a brown leather Nine West, a kind of woven Anne Klien, and a tan and taupe Liz Claiborne. "Mom" would have approved and if she were alive today most likely would have been with me and bought many more than I did. I really am dealing with things just need to not spend as much time alone as I have been. I appreciate being able to unload with you guys. Good goin' on the knee decision, Lori. You won't be sorry to have them both behind you. And, an added bonus to get in on this year's deductible and out of pocket. At least you will know what to expect. Well, gotta go surfing the net...I can't remember if I told you guys I lost a diamond bracelet on Friday while I was trying on coats. Anyway, someone got an expensive treat if they picked it up. It was insured and no deductible. Not going to replace the bracelet. They make me too nervous and rings seem to stay on fingers. Going to just check out some styles and go to my fav jeweler to see what she can do. Great job on the walking and the pound dropped, Cheri. You will be at goal b/4 you know it. Yep, it sucks to walk indoors but I am looking at that soon also. You all have a great evening. Again, you guys are great and thanks for the support.

Hi, I'm new too!
Welcome Mimi...let me start out by saying congratulations on the decision to have LB surgery. Do all the reading that you can on this site and get yourself educated on LB surgery any way you can. It will help you in the long run. Sounds like you have already changed your way of eating. That's a total plus in preparing yourself. Good luck on your journey to a new/healthier you!

It really doesn't bother me...my friends love me...I do the DD all the time. I don't judge others that partake (as long as there's not getting in the vehicle). My body just does not like booze and reacts in a negative way. I think it majorly affects my central nervous system. A "normal" person should be able to handle 2 drinks without too extreme of side affects. 1/2 beer just about does me in. It wasn't quite as bad when I was heavy but my 98lb friend could have 5-6 drinks and I was still on my first and litterally be walking tilted and tripping on my way to the restroom. I sometimes wonder if it is due to the vertigo which I have had since early teens.

I LOVE a good party. My body has never processed alcohol the way it does for most. All our friends partake and so does DH. More than one makes me slur and walk crooked. After LB tried but was much worse so had to give it up. Not like it crimped my style. I'm still the first at a party and the last to leave. Even when my son has his "after parties" in his shop in town. I'm there. Love to socialize.
