DS and Absorbing Zoloft
So you got this from your primary not a Psychiatrist ? DS is very malabsorptive. They are going to need to increase your dosage, have they talked with you about that?

Ladies - How did you handle the shopping transition from plus size?
I'm glad you went shopping and had fun! This is why I really encourage people get new clothes or at least try them on, often. We used to have a lot of people post here that they lost 50 pounds but still felt they looked the same. They were usually SAHM wearing the same clothes they wore pre-op. Clothes and measurements are some of the best ways to really make the mind body connection with weight loss, for people that are struggling with it. It takes a while though. Every time I think I am used to being this size and can pick out clothes my size, I grab something in a large instead of a medium. It is a process. At least plus size clothes look waaaay to large to me now, instead of looking like the norm.

Best piece of advice you can offer for a post-op sleeve patient
803 days post-op Weigh all of your food, condiments, liquids. All the time. Get a pocket scale.

DS and Absorbing Zoloft
Have you talked with the Dr that prescribes the zoloft about your having surgery? Most Drs do not want people on those types of meds having a malabsorptive surgery because it is very hard to manage the doses.

Going off psych meds after surgery
@DrGee Why do you have to crush your pills? I was able to swallow large normal sized pills right after surgery.

Going off psych meds after surgery
Going off your meds post-op would probably be one of the worst decision you can make. Even people that are emotionally stable have lots of issues post-op. Your meds are going to need to be monitored but I wouldn't even think about dropping them until I was at a stable weight. The mood swings and issues from the massive hormone dump of losing weight is a real killer. It can push anyone over the edge.

Eating is a chore
Well not chewing is boring. Thte first 6 months you never know if something is going to get stuck or hurt. 2 years out my relationship with food is pretty normalized. I enjoy it. I don't have issues with eating. I am not food obsessed but I still love food and I am a foodie. It gets better. Hang in there.

Can I puree anything and would it be acceptable?
Purees still need to meet your nutritional goals, so no you can't just blend anything. Protein first.

EXPERIENCED SLEEVERS! NEED YOIR RECIPE WISDOM on protein shakes!
I hate chocolate too for the most part. I used unflavored powder with broth. I got sick of drink sweet stuff. There is also a lot of variety in the Syntrax nectars.

Now it just seems so hopeless
They have a BMI of 83, most Drs won't operate on someone that large.

Keto Krate
I have thought about it. I'm too picky of an eater to let other people pick foods for me. Plus it takes me too long to eat through most things. It would be a waste of money for me.

Are you getting your pain meds?
When my friend went to fill my script there was an issue because the PA wrote it and wasn't in the DEA system. They corrected it though and I got my script. If I went some place and the pharmacist was questioning me, I would just switch my prescription. It isn't like there is a shortage of pharmacies (for most americans, not talking about rural people).

Fobi Ring for sleeved patients
Never heard of it. Sounds too much like a lap band. Not interested in something that is going to cut into and erode my stomach, when it is already small enough. It sounds like path to full gastrectomy. This is like the 3rd post about this in the past few days. Wonder what the new interest is. I guess Sleeves aren't long term profitable enough for surgeons. If a Dr was trying to selling me a band over my sleeve I would think they were not confident in their surgical skills. A properly formed sleeve doesn't stretch and doesn't need a band.

What is a non-food activity your REALLY looking forward to?
That might seem thrilling now, but it gets annoying AF really fast. Once you are over losing weight and feel normalized and people are still making a big deal about how different you look, it is boring, annoying and irritating. It ends up just being a constant reminder of who you used to be not who you are now.

How to STOP losing?
This. Your body is going to stop when it gets to a point it doesn't want to lose anymore. Then if you want to lose more you are going to have to fight with it. Sleevers have a lot more control over their long term weight loss than other WLS because we don't have malabsorption. I have stopped and started my WL a few times.

Sugar free or Sugar substitutes
It is a lifestyle change so I think it is important to find quality replacements so long term you never feel deprived. If you feel deprived then it feels like a diet and that makes you want to cheat. If I want chocolate on my period I get Lily's which is sweetened with Stevia. If I want a quick something to grab I have protein bars or eatmeguiltfree brownies. Sometimes I have halo top ice cream. The kind and type of substitute sweetener you use depends on what you are making and the desired results. I always have good luck with recipes from here. https://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/ Good luck @PER

Honest question: new to posting
If you look at the top on the app, you can see where the thread is in the forums. It is not all that easy and you have to remember each time. Like you can see RNY posts on the app, when you won't see them on forums.

Help with this forum
Are you on a PPI? Also band to sleevers don't always have the same post-op experience as first time WLS sleevers. 25 pounds in a month is a lot of weight. I am not sure if only should ever go in front of a 25 pound one month loss... If you have a good surgeon and heal well, eating shouldn't be an issue. Also your ability to eat things depends on what you are eating. 4 ounces of yogurt is going to be easy to eat, 4 ounces of steak, probably not.

To Minimiser Ring or not to Minimiser Ring, that is the question.
I'never never heard of it. Sounds like a nightmare. The sleeve is tight enough as is, and it hard enough with enough pressure just eating normal portions. Adding a ring seems like adding lapband issues to a sleeve.

Am I the only one who gets annoyed by the question Why?
I never told people, so I never had to hear their dumb ass questions. I don't believe in borrowing trouble and talking about weight loss surgery to an in general ignorant and uneducated population is just inviting trouble.

Ladies - How did you handle the shopping transition from plus size?
I was a 16 around 250. I'm not sure how long you have been heavy but the longer you have been heavy the more muscle you have. Some of it is vanity sizing and some it is muscle. I had some clothes left from college, so it isn't all vanity sizing. I was definitely smaller physically, 50 pounds heavier than I was in college. If you don't want to spend a lot, Old Navy, Gap are good places to start. Old Navy regular sizes are cut large and I think they go to 18, I know they have 16s. Department stores are nice also. Macy's, JCPenney My advice is to find some place that has plus sizes and regular sizes. There was a time period I wore both. Honestly that is the most fun, you can shop EVERYWHERE. Find a place that has both makes the transition easier because you are not in entirely unfamiliar territory, you are just switching Depts. This is why Department stores are nicer places to shop than womens specialty stores, you can just transition departments instead of looking for an entirely new place to shop. Macy's and Penney's has really good sales, so you can find nice items on clearance and coupons etc. If you have time, go on a week day when the sales people are bored and no one is around and have them help you. They love helping people with a weight loss story in my experience. If not a week day then Sunday afternoon. If you can, just stop buying pants. You are to the point that is you are still losing, pants in this range are going to show weight loss fast, even if you do no feel like you are losing much or fast. Get dresses and skirts, buy tight to go under them if you are afraid of being cold. If you get pants, you might be saggy in the butt and upper thighs every 2 weeks. Pants are the most unforgiving when it comes to weight loss. Not sure about your work environment but learn to layer. Get a nice blazer, that is almost too small so it lasts a little bit, get a lot of tight shells, so they last longer or thin fitted tops, they will be loose eventually. Find some belts so you can belt dresses and make them last longer. Buy your sweaters a size smaller, so you can wear them all winter. Only buy things you are going to wear within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Don't try to shop ahead because you see a deal. Once you are in these lower sizes, a few pounds means a size change. If you buy 14s thinking you will be wearing them all winter or something you are going to be wasting money. You will probably be a 12 by Thanksgiving, 20 pounds should get you there.
