  1. It could be gallstones. I had similar symptoms when I was pregnant (I didn't have a band though).
  2. @"brishewski" Yes...Dr. Mitchell did my surgery and he did a great job! If you have any questions, let me know. Good luck with your surgery!
  3. I took a week off and was fine to go back to work. Others have taken longer to feel better. Everyone is different.
  4. I had my band done by Smart Shape in Calgary August 25th. So far so good. I can only speak for my own experience with them. If you have any questions, l can try and answer.
  5. Boo! I see you in a search but the add friend option isn't there.
  6. Oklahomagirl1970 I am going to send a friend request. My name is Lisa
  7. If you start it, I will join it! I could really use some friends in the same boat as me that I can talk to about all this before and after the surgery.
  8. I know! Hence needing the band!
  9. I'm not I rely worries about the port sticking out but pain is definitely a consideration. I only have a week off work and need to be well enough to run around a flooring store all day. It should be okay. I had a breast reduction a few years ago (tmi?) and went back a week later *should have proof read...not really worried
  10. Yes, I am a bit worried about it. I live in Canada and revisions are covered for 5 years as are adjustments. I worry whether I can truly learn to take small bites and chew well enough. The money part worries me too. If I fail...there goes a ton of money down the drain! I think having doubts is normal.
  11. Absolutely! This is not going to be easy at all. My fat friends (I can call them that because I am fat too), seem to think we can just split a sandwich or fries or pasta dish etc and all will be well. That is their idea of being supportive. I keep telling them I won't be eating like that anymore yet they persist on saying how we can just share our meals at restaurants. Um...no! Then there is another friend who is a twig and tells me I don't need to lose weight. Bah!
  12. I would love to have some friends who are going through the same things as me. I haven't told many people I am doing this and most of the ones who do know don't get it. Lol
  13. I am getting my band on August 25th. I start my pre-surgery diet of protein shakes and low glycerin veggies August 11th. It is coming up fast! Good luck to everyone else getting banded in August!
  14. Do you have a surgery date? I asked about the sleeve vs band and apparently I don't qualify for a sleeve as my bmi isn't high enough, but I am a perfect candidate for the lap band. Imagine that...he said I was obese but small in the gastric surgery world. At least I am small somewhere! ????
  15. How did your consultation go alviar? Mine went well. I got to play with a sample lap-band and now know where all my incisions will be etc. The surgeon patiently answered all my silly questions. I am feeling good about the whole thing. I hope your consult was equally successful. ☺
  16. My first consult is July 7th too. Actually, I had a brief phone consult but my "in person" one is July 7th. Surgery is August 25th. Good luck with your consult!
