Why do people regain
I haven't regained since I've only been in maintenance a few months, but my old habits and relationship with food are still there. It's truly a mental thing. I get hungry, but not that ravenous hangry kind of hunger I use to get. Food still tastes good and I still like it. For me, I have to stay the course 80% of the time and allow myself small treats or I feel deprived and am likely to go in a carb fest.

Regrets?
My biggest regret is not being diligent in following the plan right from the start. At nine months out, my old habits and addictions are rearing their ugly heads! I still am bad about drinking water.

What are your other addictions/ obsessions?
Angels baseball. I'm pathetic. I need to buy a treadmill so I'd at least walk while watching.

Nerves
Uh, yes! Perfectly normal for many. It's major surgery. Get a chill pill and it'll help!

Loss of Motivation
It must be the 9 month itch. I'm almost to goal and I'm slacking on sticking with my food plan. Fortunately, I'm really getting into running. I NEVER thought that'd happen. But I haven't lost in two months. I'm so friggin close.

Having a very hard and discouraging time at the plateau
Meal plan! Your wife and you, together, should spend a few hours each weekend to shop, plan, and prepare all your meals for the week. You'll be off and losing again in no time, and you'll command more respect from your wife. Let her help!

Risk of a leak?
My surgeon and NUT said 99% of leaks occur in first 90 days. I was cash pay and my payment included a supplementary insurance policy to cover complications including leaks. The insurance was for only 90 days because that's when leaks occur. That being said, I'm not saying you should overeat, but I'm pretty sure a leak after the first few months isn't really the issue with overeating.

Protein and calorie deficits after surgery
If you feel that much better, use it! You will be able to consume a lot more protein within a month or two and can stay away from supplements then. But you definitely will eat your muscle if you don't have enough protein. There are plenty of us on here that have done great with using supplements in the beginning. I'm eight months out and almost never use supplements any more, but I can eat a lot more now.

Syntrax users, anybody try the Lemon Tea flavor?
I mix it in a sports bottle that you can't see through. Much better when you can't see it.

When is it not a stall?
For me, I had to eat more to start losing again after implementing a running program. Just don't add bad carbs--complex carbs will get you losing again.
