  1. I bought the Celebrate Vitamins offline. It's one Multivitamin, no need for Iron because it's included, and it's specific to bariatric sleeve patients (if you choose that option). Dissolves quick. I was super N/V after surgery & have done fine with these. Do what works best, just what I'm doing as a though. ☺️ https://www.celebratevitamins.com
  2. So, I'm one week out today and went in for my post-op appointment...and the provider I saw (who I usually see, not my surgeon) is totally giving me a complex! So I seriously just need some reassurance here, cause if not I'm gonna end up with more issues than I have... First off, I've been on a liquid diet for a month. At my last appointment before surgery, I weighed 305lbs. So, two weeks later at my first post-op appointment I weighed 291lbs. I thought I'd get some encouragement from this... Instead I got a little speech on how "it's not uncommon to not like that much the first week, because of IV Fluid ect..." I thought I had done OK, but they totally made me feel inferior... My diet was also advanced & I was informed to start with an egg. However, "most patients don't finish the whole egg, and if I did, I would be the first one ever"...same song & dance from the NUT about the Protein shake. Now don't get me wrong, I'm a sensitive person, but I think it can be quite detrimental to a person (especially one in my situation), when things come across more derogatory than positive. So now I find myself criticizing everything I do... I ate half the egg, because I was scared if I ate or was able to eat the whole one it wouldn't be "normal". I drank a little less than half the Protein Shake, for fear I might drink the "whole" half and not be "full". Also, yesterday over about 15 minutes I was able to eat the pre-portioned SF jell-o serving, and didn't hurt...to which got me a look from the NUT. So basically, here I am now. Typing and feelings hurt... I'm sticking to this to a "T", and am already worried I'm either not "normal" or have done something wrong... Anything you can offer is greatly appreciated... ????
  3. I'm day 5 post op today. I don't really need the prescription stuff any more. So I took some children's liquid Tylenol instead... It was a little thicker, but when it hit my stomach, I got crazy bad sharp stabbing pain...?
  4. Sounds great! Going to check it out ASAP. Does any of it have the protein aftertaste?
  5. OMG!! Where is this little miracle concentrate found? Lol
  6. I am 30 years old, and my husband and I are waiting a little longer to have kids. So, in order to have the surgery my surgeon said I had to have either an implant or an IUD. He said this was because the pill is no longer effective postoperatively. I'm assuming it has to do with the site of absorption of the pill. So if you aren't having a cycle or irregularities with it postoperatively it maybe due to a decrease in the absorption of the hormones. Just a thought... Hope this helps.
  7. Yes, I can. I just can't count broth or bullion. I just have trouble drinking the protein, the taste is hard to contain in large amounts.
  8. Yes, coughing does suck! I had a hiatal hernia in addition to the sleeve, so I'm having lots of chest pain too. I'm only 30, and I feel like I'm 85! Lol. I can use the water from my protein towards my fluid intake, just not broth. I just have a hard time drinking the protein. I really like the idea of an ounce every 15 min. Going to try that... Have yall seen the waterlogged app? It's a water diary, and you can even set it to where it'll remind you to drink... It makes a flowing water sound. Going to set mine for 15 mins, and see how it goes for the day.
  9. Thank you both very much...& please don't praise me yet... Today is the first day of the 3 that I've gotten more than 30 oz in. But I wasn't sure where my priorities were to lay... With the water or the protein...? I feel like I can do one or the other... Lots of trouble with both... It's 11:00 pm Texas time...& I've only gotten down 40 oz... I want this so bad...but I'm so scared, because I don't want to mess anything up...
  10. I'm on day 3 post-op... OK, so I'm having trouble consuming all the liquid (my program pushes for 80 ounces), in addition to a Protein shake a day. For right now I have to be able to mix a Protein Shake with Water. So it's super hard to take in ALL this liquid... I also can't stand the milk based shakes (chocolate, vanilla, ect), and I can't drink cold Fluid. So I've been using the nectar fruit flavors (fuzzy navel, strawberry kiwi, ect). Is is a bad idea to combine the nectar protein mix into like to shot glasses with water? So it's just enough water to get the required protein down? I did mix it just to see, and wasn't too thick and filled two shoot glasses perfect. Is this a bad idea?
  11. I've officially stocked up on crystal light! It seems to be easier with that than the water as you suggested. Thank you so much.
  12. Regarding the weight gain while in the hospital, I'm sure it has a lot to do with being dehydrated pre-op, and then getting round the clock fluids while being admitted in the hospital. Plus tack on swelling from the surgery itself. It all kind of evens itself out, so by the time you're DC'd it's perfectly OK, to have not lost & maybe even gained. I hope that helps a little...?
  13. Thank you so much for your replies. For some reason today, being day 3, has been a rough one. I wasn't sure why, but it's a relief to know its not just me. I'm going to go ahead and cut the miralax dose in half too. Thank you again. It's nice to know the light at the end of the tunnel isn't a train. Lol
  14. My surgery was on Monday, so I'm about 3 days post op. I had the gastric sleeve & a hiatal hernia repair. This was also my 1st surgery ever... So a lot to take in... 1. Water, I'm drinking it, but it hurts. Especially anything cold. 2. Protein, I can't drink the entire 8 ounces at once. Is it OK, to sip on the same glass throughout the day? 3. Gas pain, I'm still having gas pain, and it's really painful to burp. 4. Bowel movement, my NP said if no BM by post-op day 3 (today), to start miralax. So I've started that today...has anyone else had to take miralax? Any issues? Thank you in advance for your time & answers. Feeling very overwhelmed! -JM
