  1. some may disagree and im sorry in advance, but I wouldn't recommend this site to anyone. I've stopped using it because I read posts that don't get answered, and I post some of my own and no one responds. I haven't been on here in weeks because of it.

I've noticed that sometimes, once a post gets one response, it just disappears.

  2. I've posted a few times on this site and I'm a little disappointed by the lack of responses I've gotten. Wasn't this site to help users new and old to the Gastric world with questions or problems they maybe having, and to help with advice from someone who has gotten exactly what you have done?! anyway my question is...carbonated drinks...like beer, I've read some people drink them after they've sat out and gotten flat but I'm very interested in what people are saying about BEER, can I have a few sips? none at all? has anyone commenting tried to have some after their surgery? any advice would be great!!!!! and GO.....!!!!!! Start weight on June 3rd, day of surger- 222lbs Goal Weight- 120 or less Current weight 200lbs 24 days post-op and I've lost 22lbs

    My Progress

I will post as much as I can with my weight loss progress. My surgery was June 3, 2015. I'm 26 year's old, 5 feet and I have 3 children. You can only imagine why I chose to have this surgery done and it wouldn't come close to all of the reasons why I decided to have it done. It's June 29th and I've lost 21 pounds so far. This is only the beginning and I cant wait to see what this journey has in store for me!

  7. No I would never buy a 6 pack for myself. but if my husband bought some I would just have one of his and he could have what I dont drink. I love beer and im OK with not having soda for the rest of my life. but there is something about pizza and a cold beer in the winter its delish!!! how long out did you wait before you had an alcoholic drink

I'm so impressed that your surgery was 3 weeks ago and you've lost 50+lbs already!! I know everyone is different but are you walking on a treadmill? or any specific exercise routine daily? I would LOVE to lose that much by my 3rd week. I'm 1 week post op and ive lost 11lbs so far!

    newbie :)

Congrats!! I had my surgery June 3rd. My weight the morning of my surgery was 222lbs and I now weight 211. My goal is 120-130. It would be amazing to get down to the 120s but if not 130 is ok for me!! My visit with my doctor was the morning of my surgery because my flight didnt get in early enough the day before. He took my vitals and my weight. Asked me a few questions and pretty much just went through what was going to happen. They had me in and out! Some advice: take before your surgery pictures so you can see in 6 months how far you've come . take advantage of the pain meds while in the hospital! walk, walk, walk!! it helps with the gas! prepare yourself to get bored and a little frustrated with the liquid diet. If you love food like I did, It has definitely been a challenge sticking with the liquid diet. But ive been telling myself everyday "I can do this, I will do this, and it will be all worth it!!" I absolutely LOVE that only after a week and 11lbs lighter, I'm already feeling more energized, I can see the difference on certain parts of my body and this is only the beginning! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!
  13. I'll be 1 week post-op tomorrow. I still feel some pain especially in the morning. I also bought a treadmill and used it yesterday, I walked for 10 min at 2mph and then I started to feel pain. Everyone's body is different. I feel pain when I sit on a chair or on the floor with my kids, if im not lying down or somewhat on an angle, my belly fat pushes on my newly stapled stomach and that causes pain. As far as my incisions, I havent really noticed them but this morning my night top (which has a built in bra with elastic) caught the edge of the glue and when I went to take my shirt off I didnt realize it had completely ripped it out. Walking and staying active, within limits of course helps!
  14. Hello, my name is Heidi. My surgery took place on June 3rd at exactly 2PM. I was 3rd in line, last person for the day. I traveled to Miami, Florida with my mom and sister to have my gastric sleeve done by Dr. Michael Choi. Pennsylvania offers the weight loss surgery through some insurances (which is what my dad did) not only was he denied, he had to plead his case why the gastric sleeve would better his life. He had high BP, high cholesterol, and severe type 2 diabetes that he was diagnosed with 9 years ago. Finally, after almost 18 months of testing, meeting with numerous doctors and psychologists, March of 2014 he was finally approved for his gastric sleeve surgery. I have my own personal reasons why I chose to pay out of pocket and travel to Miami for my surgery and I couldnt be any happier with my decision. It's Friday, June 5th and I stepped on the scale today after meeting with the doctor once more before I went home and I have already lost 3lbs. Though, it doesn't feel like it because im still swollen and sore. This process of making sure I dont swallow a whole mouthfull of Water and I cant just grab for a bag of chips has been a very big challenge so far. I do have the support from my mom and sister who had to help my dad through it when he had his surgery so I am thankful they're here with me! I do fear that it's going to be a lot more difficult when I get home because I have a husband and 3 children waiting for me back in Pennsylvania. I have spoken with my husband everyday since I arrived in Miami, and have reminded him time and time again that I'm going to need as much help as possible when it comes to food and the temptation of not touching it! any advice or comments are greatly appreciated!!!!
  15. I have a fairly large tattoo that starts 1/4 of the way down my arm, covers my shoulder blade and ends on the top middle of my back. It is my daughters name, her feet and Lillie's surrounding. The tattoo is black and grey. My question is, after your surgery and lbs that were shed off, what happened to your tattoo? If anything at all?

Why are you getting the surgery

#1 reason is because I'm very insecure. It really hit me a few weeks ago when I took my children to the Zoo. We waited in line for 20+ minutes to ride an 800lb horse. When we got to the front of the line, the man helping children and adults get on and off the horse gestured and said to me "mam, you are just a little "TOO BIG" to ride the horse, were going to ask that you have someone else ride with your kids or have them ride alone" I was so humiliated, embarrassed and all around upset. On top of this incident my husband bought a wrecked Lotus, fixed it up and took me for my first ride about 3 weeks ago. If any of you know what kind of car that is you'll understand how small it is, if not look up Lotus Elise on google and look at the pictures, the seats are about 2 1/2 feet wide and there is hardly any room in the thing to begin with. We'll after having to practically roll out of the car, I finally called to have the sleeve done. My second reason is because high BP, cholesterol and type 2 diabetes runs in my family on both sides. My dad had the sleeve done a little over a year ago. He is doing great! weight over 320lbs and now weighs a little under 180. Im only 26 years old, I have two children ages 3 and 10 months and I cant run in the backyard with them without wanting to quit because I cant breathe, My husband and I haven't been intimate in over 3 months because I just dont want him touching me. I strongly feel this is 95% of the reason why my depression wont go away.

    June 3rd here!!
  19. In hindsight, I'm glad for my 2 week pre-op. It prepared me for the new way of eating for a bit. It prepared me for the post-op life ???? this!! My doctor wants me to diet two weeks, he says because of my age, height and BMI. He wants it to be as easy as possible and this will help me prepare for after surgery!

I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)

did you have any liposuction or tummy tuck done? Or did the gym tighten everything up for you? My surgery is june 3rd. I paid for it in full but obviously I have to wait a full year before info looking into any cosmetic surgeries. I'm going to try the gym but I'm feeling a little discouraged with the amount of fat I have sagging down already, then I think when that fat is gone it's going to be skin.
  21. Paid for my surgery in full today! booked my Plane ticket.....now just the dreadful wait of 23 days!!!
  22. Mine is June 3rd and it isn't coming soon enough lol
