    pilates chair

I saw an infomercial on the malibu pilates chair and it looks to work wonders (as all equipment does). Has anyone tried this or know someone who has? Would you recommend it?
  2. I finally got the nerve to take an e.p.t yesterday and was positive x 2!! I had my IUD removed Jan 24 th, my DR said "it will be 3 months or so before you get your period".....I got my period Feb 17th!!! and then nothing in March. I started having breast tenderness a couple weeks ago but didn't think much of it. I'm going this morning for testing with my Dr. As for my band, I had 1 cc removed recently due to throat burning and have managed to gain 8 lbs. I know weight gain/loss should not be a big concern right now.....however! I have been eating way to much and want at least 0.5 cc fill. I have no restriction at all.... I would like to know, how much weight have others gain thus far or throughout their pregnancy in general......
  3. I had a fill on Tuesday, at the time I had lil restriction as to how much I could eat and I could not do bread. After the fill, I have none whatsoever!! I can gulp water and could not before....I ate a normal size plate of food without problems....Has this happened to anyone else? I know it takes time for the fill to kick in but I lost all I had and getting hungry....

    9 Month Status

2/26/08 was my surgery date and I have lost a total of 75 lbs (15 lb preop and only 1 lbs in 8 wks). I'm not complaining because I know where I went wrong.....lots of emotional stress which leads to eating and no exercise!! After getting my fill last week, I starting to make better choices.
  5. There are several non-prescription and prescription medications that you should not take unless you receive permission and instruction from us in how to take them. Among the medications in this category are all arthritis medications, aspirin, and aspirin- containing products, including many cold medications. Alka Seltzer®, BC powders®, Goody powders®, Bufferin®, Ascriptin®, and many other medications that contain aspirin or salicylate compounds are prohibited. These can greatly irritate you stomach pouch and cause a number of serious problems. You should also avoid taking Nuprin®, Advil®, Aleve®, ibuprofen, or other over-the-counter arthritis pain or menstrual cramp medications. If you have any questions about whether a prescription medication or a non prescription medication contains aspirin or other stomach-irritating compounds, check with your doctor or pharmacist. Do not take any of these medications unless you have first spoken with your surgeon or someone from the bariatric surgery team for permission and instructions on how an exception might be made in your case.

    possible port?

congrats on your surgery, sounds like you're doing great, believe it or not!! the port is usually behind the largest incision, if you can tell which one that is...
  7. Hi all, I lost 12 lbs the first 1 1/2 wk after surgery, I have gained 2lbs in the past 2 days...I eat approx. 700 calories/day, but I admit I'm not drinking enough. I also have pain... on the left side under my ribs (mainly after eating, after being up several hours and at times when I take a deep breath) my doc says it's "postop" pain and should go away over the next few weeks but to call him if it gets worst. I was told to start walking immediately after banding but wait 4 wks before going "full-force" except weight-lifting (6wks for that). I no problems walking but I get that ache in my left side if I try and cycle.
  8. I have a friend who is participating in a "biggest loser" contest at work, she is trying to lose 10 llbs in 2 weeks. :eek:I have seen preop post where isopure drinks were mentioned, and I want to get an idea on how much wt was lost. She works out approx 1hr--4 days a wk and daily caloric intake is approx. 1000. I know this is not a healthy idea but....any help in appreciated
  9. Banded 2/26, total of 26 lbs lost, 11 lbs since surgery!!
  10. before I left the hospital I was given celebrex (for whatever reason) but the nurse opened the capsule and mixed the contents with water....I was prescribed Nexium and it wasn't specified whether to open the capsule or not:confused:Yes I am a nurse but I didn't think to ask. I would assume that the capsule would eventually dissolve in the pouch but you know what happens when you make assumptions....
  11. Correct me if I'm wrong....while on a liquid diet you will be able to take in more than 1/2-1 cup because the liquids just pass through the band (at a slower rate)..The first day postop I was able to drink the whole cup of broth. Now that I'm 5 days banded I try to limit myself to 1/2-1 cup because I don't want to "stretch" anything and besides I get a lump in my chest....

    sleep position?

thanks for the info and congrats on your wt loss thus far..
  13. I always sleep on my stomach and since surgery I have been sleeping on my back and sides. Well, the problem is, my hips are sore and I don't sleep as good on my back. Is it ok to sleep on your belly? I was told that sleeping on your side is ok but didn't address the belly:confused:
  14. I was banded 2/26, down 22 lbs (7lbs since surgery) WOOHOO
  15. I had a similar experience but it was gone in a couple of days. I think it comes from retaining fluid, I was getting 200 cc of fluids every hour intravenously. The docs want to make sure you're well hydrated.
  16. Hi All! I was banded 2/26 and I'm feeling ok, still a bit sore. I'm not hungry at all and I have only been sipping here and there. I'm afraid of puking so I'm gonna continue to take it slow.I feel like on clears, it's hard to get in all the protein. Does anyone have suggestions?
  17. I had my preop testing done today and the nurse informed me of what to expect on surgery day (2/26). It's the exact same as heidabear wrote except I get lovenox and an antibiotic. I'm very nervous regarding surgery also but I find exercise to be a good release for that "nervous energy". Besides you need to start preparing yourself for postop (if you haven't been). I'm just trying to stock up on things to eat postop. I'm a nurse and you think that would be simple.
  18. Welcome David!! Sorry to disappoint you but fudge pops are not clear liquids....I get my band 2/26 and I was told to start low carb dieting (60 grams) now and clear liquid only the day before surgery... I guess each surgeon has their own rules.

    I'm SOOOOOOOOO excited!!!

isn't that a wonderful feeling. I received a called yesterday.....I will get my lap band 2/26. It took exactly 1 week to be approved by UHC. I'm just thrilled!!
  20. I was approved by UHC-Choice Plus in 1 week. I received a call yesterday and I'm scheduled for surgery 2/26. My BMI is >40 and I have no comorbidities....
  21. Congratulations....WOW....I'm impressed.......What does your exercise routine consists of ? I'm still waiting for insurance approval all preop requirements have been fulfilled....
  22. TRENYA07

    Insurance

I have UHC and I was told that they do cover this procedure. I called myself to be certain (there is certain criteria that you have to meet, ie BMI > 35 without comorbidities).

    fill doc in wilmington?

There are 2 surgeons in Wilmington, NC that do lap bands but I don't know their policy on filling pts they didn't band....Drs Harris and MIles.
  24. I have recently completed all preop requirements and now waiting second visit to MD. My surgeon of choice is Dr James Harris who is relatively new to the lap band procedure. I'm wondering if there are any of his patients or people who were banded in Wilmington, NC on this site.:girl_hug: I have plenty of questions, and now searching for clues...
  25. :redface:I started my journey towards bariatric surgery the end of November 2007. I'm being worked up by James Harris, MD in Wilmington, NC. This past Friday I finished up all my preop requirements and I'm waiting now for my second appt with the surgeon...I'm somewhat undecided between which procedure that I want to have. This particular MD have done over 300 gastric bypass procedures (with a high success rate) and just started doing the lap bands. I'm curious to know if anyone out there has heard of this surgeon or been banded by him.
