Good luck. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Insurance Timeline to Approval
Typically your surgeon's office will call you. In my case, my insurance called me before my surgeon's office had the chance. You can always call your insurance a couple of days after your paperwork has been submitted.

On my way in!
Good luck. Our prayers are with you.

Pre-op diet is a b***h
The rest of us are jealous of you. Lol Very jealous. I'm in the middle of my 2 week liquid pre-op and I'm struggling not to cheat. Don't even know why I need one, I have a low BMI ????

Conditional Approval? United Healthcare Oxford
I have the same insurance, their approvals come through pretty fast. I was approved on the same day my paperwork was submitted. If your new office has all of the paperwork together and they are on the ball, you shouldn't have a problem.

Insurance Timeline to Approval
Your new PCP should be able to get your records from your old PCP. So you will have some history. You should check your insurance website, they change requirements all the time, you might not have to meet that requirement anymore.

"I don't get it, why are you so fat"
Hi, could you share a link to your blog?

Final count down!
That is fantastic. I really hope my surgery is as easy as yours. Congratulations!!!

Insurance approved today! Set for May 21st! Anyone else?
I'm on the 21st as well. Everyday I get a little more nervous. Excited...but very nervous. How's your preop diet going?

Insurance denied me :/
I also have United HealthCare. It is their policy to deny a certain number of cases every year. Many people never appeal the decision so they save money. Typically people who appeal are approved. Don't give up.

Looking for a buddy with lower pre op BMI
BMI of 35 when I started this journey, now I'm at 36.9. It's a shame that we know better than anyone else all of our underlying issues and why we chose to finally take the surgery route. But it's undeniable, at least for me, that I feel guilty whenever I hear "you're not that fat" or "you don't need surgery" because society has conditioned us to believe that it's only the weight that matters and that if we're not over 300lbs then we shouldn't "need" surgery. That unless we're on our way to needing a rascal to get around that we're taking the easy way out. My support has been mainly you all here and the weight loss community on YouTube. I dread walking into an actual face to face support group for fear I will be judged as "that skinny b*#ch".

May Sleevers...where are you?
Good luck Val, but you don't need it, you'll be just fine. Still, I'll be sending supportive energies your way for a swift recovery.

Insurance Timeline to Approval
Thirty days? Wow. I was under the impression that most insurance try to get an answer back within 10 days. I'd go crazy waiting for another month just to get an answer.

Insurance Timeline to Approval
I just got the insurance paperwork now, they apparently approved me the same day the dr sent in the paperwork which was last week Tuesday. I have United HealthCare/Oxford.

May Sleevers...where are you?
@@ValerieDee1975, sorry to hear you're going through this. Sometimes doctors can be very annoying. You tell them something and they swear they're listening and they haven't heard a word you've said. I think if you took a trip in to your doctor's office and he sees your face it might jog his memory as to who you are and that you have indeed spoken with him about your plans.

Hello(:
Welcome to the beginning of your new life :-). I'm scheduled for May 21. So far the pre-op diet is kicking my butt. How are you fairing so far?

The old office is keeping my records from me…
If you are the one requesting your record they cannot deny your request for a copy. If it were the other office requesting it, maybe they could have used the excuse of not releasing records. Since you are physically picking up the records yourself that excuse goes out the window. They are essentially holding your records hostage. Get a lawyer.

Insurance Timeline to Approval
Here's something I've always been curious about and no one has every really addressed it or commented on it so I'm trying to get a list together for us newbies to kind of get an estimated idea of the wait. So the question is, what is your insurance and how long did it take between your dr submitting your paperwork and getting approval/denial?

Medicine Question
Thanks everyone, I was worried about the ability to swallow pills but I guess I'll be okay. My pills are very small.
-
Medicine Question
I'm just wondering, if you're already on medication before surgery for high blood pressure etc. are you okay to take the same pills after surgery? Or does your doctor have to substitute with a liquid?

Ask your dr if you can take a little milk of magnesia.

Pre-op diet is a b***h
Thanks for the encouragement guys. I don't think I've ever been so miserable when it comes to food. I always thought I didn't have a food addiction but after today I think I may have been wrong. I felt sick and light headed and got a sudden headache. But I knew if I had one bite it would turn into at least 2 slices. It makes me question, will I be able to handle the post-op?
