  1. Hi I am 5 days post op today and I love to cook and find myself creating eatable liquid stuff I bought the ninja thing and I'm using it for everything. So far I have liquified avocado with cilantro, ricotta cheese olive oil and lime add Water for liquid consistency. Tomato bisque: 1 tomato can, chopped onion, garlic, drizzle olive oil , I sauté garlic and onion in olive oil, tomatoes, added chicken broth, pinch of paprika and cayenne , salt & pepper a spoon of heavy cream and to the blender tasted like heaven Tzatziki blended plain Chobani yogurt , with green house cucumber, dill, garlic water for liquid consistency and salt it was fresh and yummy Spanish gazpacho: blended seeded 3 fresh Roma tomatoes, 1 Clove of garlic, half seeded green house cucumber, 1/4 green bell pepper, olive oil drizzle, water and salt it was yum ! I also add to these mixes unflavored Protein powder so far so good! I am a foodie all about the taste and texture, I'm giving up the texture for now and trying hard to not give up the flavors! Do you have any recipes that you can share?
  2. Thank you all for sharing, my surgery is scheduled May 5th I can't believe it's happening I already have a Lapband, it has given me some problems so going in to revision to sleeve, I am panicking, Lapband surgery was much easier, I guess the fact of getting my stomach cut escalates the panic to another level. I'm praying for strength to not chicken out, my Wheight is currently out of control due to the Lapband had to be unfilled, gain 20 pounds in 5 month... Trying hard not to and working out a lot I still gained them! Reading this thread made me realize my feelings & fears are more common than what I thought, I am fearful to have a nervous breakdown this Tuesday and not follow through with the surgery, but if I do I will never forgive myself! I am finding comfort in prayers and positive thoughts! Thank you again for sharing and being supportive through your own experiences.
  3. I was very scared to use a straw since my surgeon post op book says not to use it, I tried it today 5 days post op and it works incredibly well for me! So just curious about others sleeved buddies experiences with the use of a straw! On liquid diet, and kind of starting to crave for something to chew! But will stick to liquid or at least very mushy diet for now!
  4. Hi, Im thrilled for finding this app, I did my Lapband 3 years ago it went great! Until 4 months ago I started having horrible reflux episodes while sleeping. About 6 events per night coughing terribly and I tried everything even sleeping in a seated position. So my Lapband had to be unfilled, my esophagus was swollen and dilated and dr does not recommend filling it again, in these months with my unfilled band I have gained 18 pounds. I'm still at this moment a low BMI patient but I'm going for the sleeve on May 5th. With Dr. Mark Pleatman in Michigan he is charging me $13200 I'm self pay, I feel so tempted in going to Mexico and pay half after reading great stories here but I don't think I can deal with such a huge change in my plans. Has anyone had this experience? How is the sleeve on low BMI patients? I would appreciate to know about someone with similar experience
  5. Hi I am new to the site and just got sleeved, I was banded 4 years ago. I am 8 days post op, I am having trouble understanding when my tummy is now full, I lost the full sensation that I knew, I don't really feel full any more like I used before, after more than 4 oz of food I feel pain and discomfort is this the new fullness sensation I should be waiting for? Also I don't really feel hungry as I used too, I now know that I am hungry when I feel anxious, is it only me? Am I a weirdo? I feel that I'm lost with this new tummy sensations so different than before

Thank you freezing stuff as I text! Need to chew so bad will try this for sure!
  9. Yes, feel same way here! I can eat a whole yogurt of 150g with no problem, and don't really feel fullness sensation I should be expecting or as it was before, I have no problems drinking liquids at all actually gulping it down is no problem for me... I even can tolerate eating my liquids Soups and at the same time drinking Water etc, I guess that will change with solids... My Dr. Is an expert over 700 sleeves if not I would be doubting my result, only sensation is discomfort when I push to eat more I stop due to get scared for my new tummy but not really because I need to stop or feel full! I had the band for 4 years and that enlarged my pouch a bit maybe that's why, at this point I so hope afterwards I will be able to know this better... Had that my sleeve really works

    Hello

I felt the same way 8 days ago, I was convinced I would not survive, hug you kid and assure her you will be ok, both of you get into that God(mahoma, buda,Adoni) will be looking over you, and visualize you getting out of surgery perfectly fine, from that point have no doubt, it's not something you can control anyway, but you can bring the best of energies to it and let it go!
  15. Your post is extremely inspiring as well as all the incredible people who have written a supportive comment, thank you for sharing!! I am grateful for this site and to know I am not alone
  16. Actually this is a picture of me 1 day before my surgery! I am a revision so I got my Lapband unfilled December 2014 and gained 15 pounds from December to May! The Lapband worked wonderful for me until I developed GERD, so hoping to get those 15 pounds of with my sleeve have to say tho I am very conscious with eating natural healthy foods and I do hot yoga 3 times a week, still managed to gain 15 pounds being careful! I've already lost 10 in the week post op! So almost there!
  17. This is the one I bought cost $99
  18. Yes I guess each Dr. Is different I was not told I cannot use the blender I was told to be careful what ever I put in my mouth is liquify, I wasn't told I can't play with flavors actually natural spices like garlic can contribute on your healing. It's a natural antibiotic, I do recommend each of is to follow your Dr. Instructions, I and 1 week post op and have had fabulous Soups , all liquified with taste! Last recipe I tried yesterday : Bought Swanson Thai broth, added coconut milk and thin cut cilantro it was yummy and filling, no problems at all with my new tummy!
  19. Thank you so much! Those recipes are awesome and I will for sure try them when I get to that phase please do you have more liquid phase ones? I still have a week to go on liquids and as a fellow foodie you must know what I'm going through! Thank bunches!

  21. That is a very interesting question! I hope a veteran sleeved will let us know if drinking with a straw affects the stretching of the sleeve! I'm quite surprised to see that it doesn't bother us to do so even if Dr.'s request us not to!

    Low BMI-ers

No pre op diet for me either conversion from band to sleeve at 25BMI actually I tried to gain a little before surgery
  23. I am 3 days post op have not lost a pound! But honestly not frustrated, at some point I have to start loosing! It's like my body is retaining the weight!
  24. Me neither I have no interest for solids none! I am 3 days post op and had sautéed broccoli with garlic and shallots, blended until broth consistency, I had avocado cream, that had cilantro, lime, shallot , blended with broth until broth consistency, I had gazpacho Soup, which consists in cucumber, olive oil, garlic, green bell pepper and tomato, blended until it's broth consistency as well. I am actually having fun with these recipes and very little makes me feel satisfied! I actually don't care for solids at all! Tomorrow trying roasted cauliflower with cumin and chicken broth! Blended until it's a broth! I bought the ninja thing before surgery and I think was my best buy!!!
