  1. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and went back to work the next Monday. I have a desk job too. Was 34 when I had the surgery. Did just fine but was a little tired the first few days. The part that was difficult for me was I still had pain in my back/shoulders from the gas they pump into your abdomen during surgery so I just got up and walked around a lot. I kept my protein shake on my desk all day and sipped on it every 15 minutes. No one had a clue anything was different. It worked out well for me.

    March 2015 Surgery!

Doing good here. Haven't seen much weight loss in the past couple months but I'm still happy. I have bought more bras over the past year than I imagined. It's like I'm going once a month to get a smaller one. Honestly that makes me happy too. The weather here has been so mild this winter that I've spent most of my time skipping the gym and going outside to exercise instead. How is everyone else doing?

    March 2015 Surgery!

How's everyone doing? I'm down to 173 now. Officially down 81 lbs from my starting weight. All is good here. No issues at all really. I still haven't been hungry since surgery which is wonderful. Weight loss has decreased quite a bit since I hit 6 months post op. Still super happy!

How's everyone doing? I had my 3 month checkup today. So far I have lost 43% of my excess body fat (50 lbs).... And only 2 more lbs before I'm under 200. I'm pretty happy about that! Now I'm back on a "regular diet"... No restrictions. Woo hoo! I've been dying for a salad... Wouldn't have said that 3 months ago. Ha! Averaging 550-750 calories a day now. I can eat about 1/2 - 2/3 cup of food at a time. How about everyone else? Anyway, hope everyone is doing great!

Angelface811, congrats on being "normal" again! Super happy for you.

    Stalling

I'm 5 weeks post op and at week 3 I stalled for about 10 days straight. It has finally started dropping again. I'd be curious to hear what some people a little further out have experienced.

Wow, our stats are really close. I'm 5'5", starting weight 252, goal weight 150. Congrats on your success so far!! Keep up the good work! All is good my world. One of the absorbable stitches (that didn't "absorb" yet) started to pop through my skin so I pulled it out. That's about the most exciting news I have this week. My next checkup is at 6 weeks. Hopefully I'll have some good news to share then.
  12. My brother had surgery 2 years ago and his dr allowed him to take it to help get the weight off. He had to lose 50 lbs before they would do it though. Don't know if that played a role in their decision or not.
  13. Great job! Keep it up!
  14. You look awesome! Great job!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention... Even though the scale isn't moving the inches are still coming off (or shifting). My "fat pants" which were really tight before this this journey are now falling off by butt!! So something is working at least.

Guess what... I jumped on the scale again this morning only to disappoint myself with the same number that has been on the scale for the last 3 days. You'd think I would quit looking for a while. I've been averaging 500-550 calories. Been focusing on keeping my Protein above 70g per day, sugars and carbs below 5g per meal, and fats below 10g per meal... Dr's plan. Last week I was released to get "really hot and sweaty"... ha! Cardio only. Still can't lift over 10 lbs until 6 weeks out. I have a spin bike at the house so I've been turning up the resistance and "getting sweaty" for 30-45 minutes a night. There were a couple days where I was too tired so I walked instead. I'm down a total of 25 lbs, but 12 of that was pre-op. Glad to see I'm not alone in this boat. Hopefully all of us will start losing again soon.

I was just thinking that I need to stop weighing every day for the exact same reason. Think I'm going to cut it down to once or twice a week. It's crazy how fast it slowed down after I started introducing food into my diet... barely eating anything and only eating lean Protein.

Sorry you're feeling so bad. I remember it was very uncomfortable the first week or so sitting at my desk all day. I got up and walked around every chance I got. I'm still feeling weak too. It's worse if I do a lot of physical work. Hope you start feeling better soon!
  19. I had surgery about 10 days before you and I had the same issue when I first changed over. Honestly I felt that way from the start of this whole thing... Very full when eating or drinking barely anything. I have been able to eat a little more over the past couple days. I went back to drinking 1 Protein shake a day to help get all the protein in. It will get better. Hang in there!
  20. Good luck on your surgery! Praying all goes good for you.

    Learning how to eat slowly!

This may be a silly question, but will we always have to chew our food so well or is there a point where we will be able to eat like before surgery?
  22. I went back to work 6 days post op. It was uncomfortable sitting up straight and I was a little more tired than usual but it wasn't anything I couldn't deal with. Just got up and walked every couple hours which helped. I only have 2 weeks vacation and didn't want to burn all of it now.
  23. I would bring some loose fitting pants to wear home from the hospital (yoga pants, pj pants, etc...). Your belly will be a little bigger after the surgery and you won't want anything tight against it. My surgery was March 31st (Tuesday) and I went back to work the next Monday. I have been able to wear the same slacks that I was wearing before surgery. I have been leaving them unbuttoned though so they don't rub on my incisions. Finally feel like everything is healing up so maybe I'll try buttoning my slacks tomorrow.

    Protien shakes

Hey Sam, my doctor said we can replace a meal with a shake if we need to but they didn't suggest eating in between meals. So anyway, there's my 2 cents. I'm probably still going to do a shake for breakfast because I'm lazy and I don't think I'm going to be able to get enough protein in during the day.
