  1. @ Jawbone is a fitness tracker like FitBit, etc. On the app you can find "teammates" which, in theory, act as a support system and encouragement.
  2. @@Chrystee oh that's good to know! I'll have to pay attention to that when I go a little later today.
  3. I'll have to check out the 3 o'clock position. My foot position should be pretty good as I'm using clipless pedals. I am stretching some but perhaps I should stretch more? I take my dog for a brisk walk, come home and stretch for about 5 minutes and then head out.
  4. @@jess9395 well that's part of what's so irritating - I went to a runners shoe store and sort of got "fitted" for shoes - I actually under pronate. But it doesn't seem to have made much difference. I've been doing the shin splint exercises as often as I can but that doesn't seem to help either. @@Chrystee I'll have to check those out.
  5. @@deedadumble How did you figure out if your really were shin splints?
  6. @@Thinside it's good that you're experimenting to find what you like. It's really hard to find a good one that meets all the requirements (not too high in calories, low sugar, high protein, not to mention taste.)
  7. I realise this is an older thread, but what do you runners do for shin splints? I get them really badly, particularly in my right leg. I stretch (after warming up - no static stretching) and have really good shoes, but nothing seems to help.
  8. @@dhrguru you could try Nuun for electrolytes. It's a little fuzzy so I have tend to put it in my water bottle at the end of a workout, leave the lid open for a few hours, and then stick it in the fridge for the next day's workout. Gatorade is ok in a pinch but it's got so much sugar.
  9. @@MissMac that's a good idea! I hadn't thought of that. @@pink dahlia I bought a few of the I Love Peanut Butter individual peanut butter packets last night. Weirdly, the act of just buying them kind of satiated the craving. I had one of the this morning when the craving hit and that seemed to help. I'm really hoping these cravings are period related and temporary.
  10. @@amazon @@CowgirlJane sometimes I wonder if it's the sucralose. That's one of the many reasons I try to limit my sucralose intake - I think it makes my sugar cravings worse. Plus it gives me a headache if I eat too much. A Quest bar a day is about all the sucralose I can stand. I made sure nothing else I eat contains it.
  11. @@CowgirlJane I was really hoping I'd like the premier protein or the pure protein bars because they're so much cheaper than quest, but alas. It's great that you identified them as a trigger though.
  12. Looking for Jawbone teammates. Any one interested?
  13. I'd be interested to see if anyone was taking this too.
  14. @@CowgirlJane I can definitely see that. It's funny, I have one a day and I always look forward to it like it really is a candy bar but they never live up to expectations. But I forget the next day. They do fulfil certain cravings I have though and, to me, they're the best tasting bar I've found that has the right about of protein, calories, and sugar.
  15. @InnerSurferGirl I actually became a little too infatuated with the chocolate calcium chews. Once I started including them in my daily calorie count (they definitely have calories and I kept ignoring that because they're vitamins) that helped scale them back. I looked at the WonderSlim but they're made with sucralose and I try really hard to limit my sucralose intake because it gives me headaches. Too bad really, I wanted to try their Irish cream hot chocolate.
  16. @@pink dahlia that's an excellent question. I may tried a controlled test - Sprouts Market sells individual packets of different peanut butters, including a chocolate PB. I figured I'd kill two birds and try it. See what that does.
  17. @@pink dahlia I have PB2, I've just never really used it. I should probably try it in my shake tomorrow! I was furiously googling healthy treats but it was making the cravings worse so I had to take a break.
  18. Thanks for sharing! I was wondering why they tastes a little different. I'm glad I wasn't just hallucinating.
  19. My cravings have been nuts the past week and a half. They jumped to an uber intensity on Tuesday when I did a shoot where I was surrounded by every possible dessert in the world. I'm almost 8 months out from surgery and I can confidently say that I've never had cravings like this. I feel like I'm PMSing - I have minor cramps, am super irritable, and I'm having serious chocolate cravings - but because my hormones are so out of whack I can't say for sure. I was told that WLS patients may have crazy periods, sometimes twice a month, but my experience has been the exact opposite. I'm two weeks late. Again. But that doesn't seemed to have stopped the PMS. I'm also obsessively craving Peanut Butter, which is new. I've been very lucky in that, for eight months, I haven't really had cravings. I see something that looks tasty, feel a brief pang over not being able to enjoy it, and then move on. This is been entirely different and very unpleasant. Now everything that tastes even mildly good I have to fight with myself not to go back for second helpings. How do you ladies deal with intense cravings? It's mostly peanut butter and chocolate - I know there are good alternatives but I'm already eating 1200 calories a day which I think may be on the high end for 8 months out, so I'm reluctant to add any more. Suggestions? Advice? Witty comments?
  20. @@gerio thanks! I thought about the fact that I'm using different muscles, but I had been doing 10 miles a day on my old cruiser.
  21. @@gerio they raised it a little bit but it hasn't made much difference. I'd go somewhere else, but after spending all that money on a bike and bike gear, I can't afford to pay another bike place to fit me.
  22. @@Chrystee I'm jealous! I'm so tired of the heat.
  23. @@gerio I did! That's why I'm confused. I was fitted when I bought the bike.
  24. So I need a little more advice - I got a lovely new Trek Lexa C but have been having trouble riding it. Almost immediately after I get on it, and go more than 400 feet, my quadriceps start hurting. According to internet searches I've done, it means I need to raise the seat. I raised it a little bit and it had no effect. Should I keep raising it? I know you shouldn't be able to put a foot flat on the ground, but at this rate I'm not going to be able to touch it at all. Any suggestions?
  25. @@gerio that's so impressive!
