AUGUST 6 GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY
Hi Ellie! I had my surgery on Monday. Stayed in the hospital until Wednesday. I can honestly say, that you can eat more with the bypass than the sleeve. When I had my sleeve, I could barely tolerate 2 ounces. Now I can do 4 oz of cream of chicken soup or an entire protein shake with no problems. The pain has been worse for me with the bypass, to the point if I am no better tomorrow, I am going to the ER.

Sleeve to bypass
I will be converting to bypass from sleeve 8/6 because of GERD. I had the sleeve 4/6/2015. I was extremely successful and then old habits crept back in and I had the vicious regain. My bravo testing was off the charts so my insurance will be paying for the surgery.

The truth... the whole truth.... and nothing but the truth
I know I will be ok once I start the 2 week diet. But until then, I am battling being a pig. I am so excited for food NOT to control my life anymore!

The truth... the whole truth.... and nothing but the truth
I had to have 6 months of documented weight loss appointments with my pcp. I did that before I ever went to the surgeon. My surgeon requires a 2 week pre-op diet which I start 3-23. Luckily, both of my insurances will pay but I will still have some out of pocket expense.

The truth... the whole truth.... and nothing but the truth
So things have moved very fast for me. I met my surgeon for the first time in late Jan. Within 1 month, I completed all the appointments and a sleep study and upper GI. I have a tentative datr of April 6th. I have gained 2.8 lbs since my first visit. Not making an excuse, but I have quit smoking. That was a requirement as well. I am eating all the things I won't be able to eat once surgery is done.( well at least for a while). I wonder if this is part of the emotional process. I start my 2 week preop on the 23rd and that's scarier to me than they surgery. I see all of these posts where thry have lost weight waiting on surgery.... and I have gained.... any thoughts?

Susie..... hair cycles.... but if you get your protein in and take biotin, no worries. My doc says use sea band products if you have nausea. Annie...... I can't wait to hear about your post surgical experience!
