Food funerals
I've def used the last 12 months to say goodbye bad habits and hello to new life long habits. I gave up ALL soda September 2014. I switched to carbonated Water for a short time, but I've been fizzy free for about 10 months. Additionally, I've gotten my over eating under control, well as much control as I can have before I get my tiny tummy. I don't see eating post surgery portions as an option as there is no way possible I'd be satisfied. I consistently log my food and count calories. More recently, I consistently drink 64+ oz of water daily. I also do not have any Pasta and potatoes as sides. My family still eats them, but I don't put them on my plate. I've made lots of positive changes to help me be successful next month. I also joined a gym. I'm walking/slow jogging 2miles on the treadmill and biking 5 miles two times a week when I go to the gym. Thanks for the encouragement. You're right. It's not forever, just temporary. The foods in "worried" about missing are Protein. I'll just be taking a vacation from them.

Thanks for your response. I don't take it as a sign I'm not ready either. I appreciate your point of view!!! I'm very aware of my thoughts and I'm not binge eating. Just very carefully planning my favorite foods over the next month. My husband is amazing on the grill. I know that there will be a time during recovery I won't be enjoying his amazing dinners. I'm still choosing protein and limiting my carbs. I'm just mentally preparing for missing food as I know my life is about to change for the better.

Help! I know I shouldn't, but I am... So some of you are aware that I have a 12 month insurance program. During this time I've lost 40lbs. I graduate on September 30th and have a surgery date of October 19th!!! With that said, I know I shouldn't have food funerals, but now that I'm a month away I find myself saying...I want to make sure I have X before my surgery! I monitor my weight and I'm not gaining. I am definitely not eat as large of portions, but I need help changing my mind set! I know I'm not saying goodbye to smoked BBQ and grilled chicken wings for forever...

I'm official...lots of dates added to the calendar
It's a 12 month educational program...not a diet. Though I have lost and gained some along these 12 months. Congrats for being able to skip the 12 months. I wish I could have, but such is life.

Surgery is so far away!
Pick one habit to focus on each month. First I got rid of soda, then focused on portion control, next increasing protein, then increasing water....helps pass the time and shift to new post op habits.

That's insane!!! Their were self pay people at my seminar, but he was very clear the self pay patients get a great package and insurance is billed for a whole lot more!

Who, and when, to tell about surgery?
I've told everyone about my upcoming surgery. I've only received support. I figured people are going to talk either way. I wanted them to be informed when they talk. Lol. I'm very positive and up beat about my surgery (have some personal worries and fears). If anything some friends comment they wish they could has it done. The only "negative" was concern if it was a lapband, because they knew people who had problems with it. Everyone is different, but I wanted to be 110% truthful, maybe my journey will help another person I know start their journey. I know 5 people who have had WLS. I think it is becoming somewhat normal and less taboo. Good luck to everyone on their journey.
