Hello everyone!! I recently read a post, that someone couldn't have the lapband put in because she had too much scar tissue from a previous surgery. This got me to thinking about the huge scar I have from an emergency spleenectomy in 2000. The scar goes from bottom of breast bone to about 4" below my belly button. I did ask the dr(not the surgeon) yesterday about this happening to me and he said ...yes it could be but that it wouldn't be known until they try to do surgery. If it is a problem that I could have an open surgery instead of a laproscopic surgery. Is there anyone out there that has had their band put in and not had it laproscopically? If so, what helpful info can you give me? What problems have you had that are due to the open surgery? Have you had any band problems related to the open surgery? This is really an issue for me because I have been split open once and it was awful, but at the same time I wasn't prepared in any way, mentally, home care or any other way. Wish I had known what toilet tongs were back then, lol, ...it would have been much less humiliating for me and my dh who took such good care of me then. Any stories or advice would be greatly appreciated. I want this to happen so badly, that I will probably let them cut me wide open but the thought of it has really taken aback to the point that I'm now scared, and I wasn't before. I'm so close to making this happen, less than a month to my last appointment for my 6 month supervised visits. One of the my biggest reasons for opting for the band was it was less invasive. If I have to be split open anyway, maybe I should go ahead and do the rny...any thoughts??? Also, when insurance approves for wls, do they approve for the band, or for the rny or just for wls in general? Is this even an option on the operating table? YES...my mind is working over time on this and I'm a little depressed about it. I have to wrap my mind around the possibility of this.:help::help::help:

Crystal115, I've been taking 1/2 a tab, 5mg in addition to my wellbutrin since October. It gave me enough of a boost to get me out of a depression I was slipping into, usually the wellbutrin is enough and this is the first time I have ever been on anything in addition to that. Its been a major help and haven't had any side effects.

I have something to do now...going thru my old emails for funnies.... Blonde One winter morning a couple was listening to the radio over Breakfast. They hear the announcer say, "We are going to have 8 to 10 inches of snow today. You must park your car on the even-numbered side of the street, so the snowplows can get through." Norman's wife goes out and moves her car. A week later while they are eating breakfast again, the radio announcer says, "We are expecting 10 to 12 inches of snow today. You must park your car on the odd-numbered side of the street, so the snowplows can get through." Norman's wife goes out and moves her car again. The next week they are again having breakfast, when the radio announcer says, "We are expecting 12 to 14 inches of snow today. You must park..." Then the power goes out. Norman's wif e is very upset, and with a worried look on her face she says, "Honey, I don't know what to do. Which side of the street do I need to park on so the snowplows can get through?" With the love and understanding in his voice that all men who are married to blondes exhibit, Norman says .. Why don't "you just leave it in the garage this time?"

It's really slow at my job too, and I always have this board up.:ranger: A couple of years ago my daughter who was 18 at the time was watching something on tv about Michael Jackson....and says... "Michael Jackson used to be black??? OMG I didn't know that!" Kids say the darndest things:rolleyes, she makes me so proud somedays:rolleyes:

ROFLMAO!! I'm mean..If I had been at that elevator, I would have knocked on the door really hard and said something (brilliant, i would hope). Thanks for the laugh, sorry for your ordeal.

I haven't been banded yet, but its a chance I'm willing to take. Besides, I'm married to my second (and last husband) and I never thought of myself as pretty at any age or size, so if i look worse thin...no big deal to me.:noidea:

I'm so happy for you...congrats!!! Can I ask what insurance you have?

Mid missouri has been lucky compared to some. Power outages are hit and miss. I think around the capital area and kc got it much worse than us. We were supposed to get more last nite but it missed us. DH has family in South Carolina--they called to check on us--80 degrees there.

I'm in central Missouri, and I wanna be wearing flip flops outside too:think. We made it thru the last storm without losing power, I hope we stay lucky this go around, but I'm ready as can be, I guess.

just wanted to say hi. first time posting on this site, i hope i'm doing it right. i've been reading for about 8 months and in the process of getting thru the insurance hoops. hope to be, maybe february. i've had to do 6 months supervised and january is the last month for that. i've been going to columbia, mo to the university. is there anyone that has had there band done there?
