  1. I was banded on Wed, Dec. 5. I went back to work on Monday, Dec 10. I am still on light duty, for another couple days. I am an electronic engineer tho, not a very physically demanding job. But I had no problems going back that next Monday.

  3. Im with You LapbanderNC...I try to burp sometimes and its a chore lol. With the gas annoyance, sometimes I find myself talking to my stomach encouraging it to burp:heh:
  4. I went through the same thing. I was banded on Wed, 12/5. Today (Sun 12/9) I feel almost normal, just a little bit of port pain. As far as the pain goes, the shoulder referred pain was the worst, but the meds kept that tolerable. Walking did wonders too. They had me walking the day I went home, slow and frequent, and that kept the gas moving. Hang in there guys, we can do this!!:clap2:
  5. I can feel your pain vs these insurance companies. I'm Humana, and they basically laughed at me when I asked them about Bariatric -- any of them, but mainly the Band. I fought against them for quite some time, even looked into getting legal council, but decided just to bite the bullet and pay it myself, outta my 401k. I mean I understand the places opt out for certain procedures, to keep insurance costs down, but I still whine and complain about it:(
  6. Hey there smaller. I had absolutely no problems after I arrived home. I was at the Surgery Center at 630am, home by 11am. I wasn't even sore at all, tho most of the time I just relaxed. But I needed no help after I got home and situated
  7. Hey there folks. Just wanted to announce my new band -- in Wed 12/5/07. The surgery was easy as all get out, not a problem (I was scared ta death about that). Only the port is causing any pain at all, and thats not that bad. I love this forum, I have learned so much and it definitely informed me as for my decision to do it. Here's to losing this weight and starting my new life!!!:heh:
  8. Thanks Kat, that does a world of good to my nerves :nervous
  9. Hey there everyone. I'm dated to have my surgery 12/5. I've been on the 2 week pre-op diet and have lost 12lbs thus far, and still have a few days ta work on that. I'm 6' 5" @ 431lbs so that makes me at a BMI of 54 I think? My Dr. tells me not too worry about it, that I will be fine, losing the weight that I have -- but I am still worried. Is there such a thing as not losing enough on the pre-op diet? I'm so nervous about this operation (never been operated on before) but so excited to get this weight off!!!
  10. I've known a few people to get the Band, and a couple peeps to have the gastric bypass done. One of the three people I know with the band had to have it removed due to slippage, but is still happy she had it. Both people that I know that had the bypass (both the RNY) are unhappy with it. One has had severe problems and is in a pretty serious situation, the other is heavier then when he started :phanvan

  12. Hey there folks. Names Jeff, from Ohio. 32, 6' 5" 429lbs -- band date of 12/5/07, and I am really nervous. Actually I think I am more nervous because of the operation, never had one before. The preop diet is a killer, on 4 SlimFast shakes a day (nothing else) for 2 weeks :faint:but only a week left. Fought with my weight as long as I can remember, and been on almost every diet known to man, even the fad lose 10 lbs in 1 day stuff :rolleyes. But I wanted to introduce myself, and say howdy, love the site and I hope to post a lot more good news!!!
